Hello dear mummy!
I`ve finally arrived to Maria`s flat! It took a month!!!
But it was great pleasure to go out of my envelope! Many TVs were meeting me - it was a pleasure. I brought the flag of England with me, because now I`m the fan of England
Hope my stay in Russia will be interesting as well and I`ll become a fan of Russia too

Hello dear mummy!
This week-end I spent at the country-side where Maria has her small country-house.
The weather was quit fine, but it seems that very soon it will be cold.

Lenino, Russia - 18th September 2010
By: TaisAfinskaia
Hello mummy!
I visited War-historical museum. Here in Lenino was very important battle - Russian 16th Army stopped fascistic army on its way to Moscow.
Quote: | In September 1941 Konstantin Rokossovsky was given command of 16th Army and tasked with blocking the Volokolamsk Highway, and barring the German forces' access towards Moscow. By late November, 16th Army had gradually been forced back to a line Krasnaya Polyana-Kryukovo-Istra, but here it held firm until the Red Army went over to the offensive in December. In June 1942 however, Rokossovsky was transferred to take command of the Bryansk Front. |

Hello mummy!
Don`t be upset that you don`t hear from me much - there are so many TVs here and we can`t get photos in one moment
On Monday I was at Maria`s work. She is working at big building!
And after that I had a trip in the underground. Te station where I was is very nice and beautiful! And I saw the train - it is just a train, nothing special.

Paris, France - 7th November 2010
By: TaisAfinskaia
Hello dear mummy!
I visited the main cathedral in France!
Quote: | Notre Dame de Paris (French for Our Lady of Paris), also known as Notre Dame Cathedral, is a Gothic, Catholic cathedral on the eastern half of the Île de la Cité in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. It is the cathedral of the Catholic Archdiocese of Paris: that is, it is the church that contains the cathedra (official chair), of the Archbishop of Paris, currently André Vingt-Trois. Notre Dame de Paris is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in France and in Europe. It was restored and saved from destruction by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, one of France's most famous architects. The name Notre Dame means "Our Lady" in French, and is frequently used in the names of Catholic church buildings in Francophone countries. Notre Dame de Paris was one of the first Gothic cathedrals, and its construction spanned the Gothic period. Its sculptures and stained glass show the heavy influence of naturalism, unlike that of earlier Romanesque architecture.
Notre Dame de Paris was among the first buildings in the world to use the flying buttress (arched exterior supports). The building was not originally designed to include the flying buttresses around the choir and nave. After the construction began and the thinner walls (popularized in the Gothic style) grew ever higher, stress fractures began to occur as the walls pushed outward. In response, the cathedral's architects built supports around the outside walls, and later additions continued the pattern.
The cathedral suffered desecration during the radical phase of the French Revolution in the 1790s, when much of its religious imagery was damaged or destroyed. During the 19th century, an extensive restoration project was completed, returning the cathedral to its previous state. Additionally, the cathedral houses the purported Crown of Thorns in its reliquary. |

Moscow, Russia - 5th December 2010
By: TaisAfinskaia
Hello mummy!
I visited the museum of Vera Mukhina. She was the architector of famous Russian sculpture Worker and Kolkhoz Woman
Quote: | Worker and Kolkhoz Woman is a 24.5 meter (78 feet) high sculpture made from stainless steel by Vera Mukhina for the 1937 World's Fair in Paris, and subsequently moved to Moscow. The sculpture is an example of the socialist realistic style, as well as Art Deco style. The worker holds aloft a hammer and the kolkhoz woman a sickle to form the hammer and sickle symbol. |
You can see the small copy of it at the second photo. The museum is very interesting and I enjoyed old Russian photos as well.
