Vienna, Austria - 8th September 2012
By: Mausbären
Later on we went to explore a little bit, and met two other travelers, wo were sitting in a car. They told me that they - just like me - have travelled around a lot- Yet unlike me they have never travelled in a plane, or been to another continent. I recommended becoming a toy voyager- it's just the best thing to do
Then we took some pictures at a stairway to another district. It was very nicely built, and I enjoyed seeing it. (In the last picture you have to look really closely to find me, I'm standing on the left side right on the wall)

Hi there!
Today we went to a vietnamese restaurant. It was very nicely decorated. There was even a statue of a green buddah. As I heard that rubbing a buddah's belly, makes you lucky, I immediately tried it- and it worked.
I know for fact that it worked because I couldn't understand any item on the menu, so I just ordered something. But all my dishes were with fish - so yummy

Hi!
Today we went to the harvest festival. In Vienna it takes place at the Hofburg (that's the residence of our president). The Hofburg itself is a very historical building and surrounded by the Heldenplatz (place of heroes). I expected to meet some superheroes like Superman, Ironman, or the like, but in fact it was called like this to honor all soldiers who died fighting for Austria.
On the Heldenplatz there is one statue of archduke Karl, on his horse, and opposite of him, there is a statue of prince Eugen again on a horse

The harvest festival itself was so much fun
I met many animals wich live in the mountains that Vienna is surrounded of, like a boar. Actually the boar told me, that I could meet his kind in Vienna. They live in the Lainzer Tiergarten, a forest in Vienna. Hostmum told me that she had met them herself several times. When she was younger, one boar even tried to get away with her cousins backbag, as it smelled nicely of the apples he had to carry. However, her parents were able to get it back savely in the end.
As it was really hot that day I decided to first look around a bit(I was even able to take a picture with me and the city hall in the background), and try the local dishes-yummy! and then to enjoy the sun a bit

When we left, hostmum explained to me that the building shows a lot of Roman influence. Therefore you can see some statues of Hercules and also of other Roman Gods.
It also houses several museums, among them the Sissi Museum, and the treasure chambers.

Hi there!
I guess I still owe you the story of the first evening I spent with Drescher. Well, here it is (although it is a bit blurred )
We found this cool barrel, and a cool guy, Mr. Awesome, a rhino. He wanted us to party with him- so we did- and it was great- I really loved it.

At the weekend we went to Vienna's largest flea market. We had to go there with the S-Bahn which is kind of a train- but rather a underground...well it is somewhere in between. It's really funny to look at the signs inside of the train, because they say that one should keep their voices low, but the train itself is sooooooooo loud
When we arrived at the flea market, we saw that it was really full of people who looked for all kinds of stuff. Hostmum looked for baby stuff, as her sister is expecting her first child.
We took some pictures of all the antiques (well, old stuff) they sell there It was really nice and interesting to see all the things they sell there
On the way back we discovered that the stop of the S-Bahn was located most beautifully. It really looked as if you were in the middle of the country, whereas you were actually in the middle of the ctiy

Hi everyone!
Lately host mum was very busy with studying for exams, but as she has finished with some at least, we went to celebrate to the nicest little cupcake store in Vienna.
We were so lucky because the sun was shining today, and we were able to enjoy it outside. We simply loved it there (I hope we can go soon again)

Hi there!
Today we went past a little flea market - it seems that now is the season for them in Vienna, as there are really quite many around there.
There were many stands where you could buy clothes, or bags, but what I liked most was a little "shop", where they sold all kinds of music boxes. I was fascinated by a huge advent calendar, which would play a different christmas carol every time you open another door to get your present for the day
I also really liked that they had a little piano, which was exactly the right fit for me

Vienna, Kitchen, Austria - 12th October 2012
By: Mausbären
Hi there!
As today it is really cold outside, host mum suggested to bake something - I immediately wanted to help.
So we made a nice dough, for which we were even allowed to use the "big machinery" they have in their kitchen
The dough had to rest a bit before baking, so we started to make a frosting - well it was a frosting that would go inside the buns we would make out of the dough.-..you'll see what i mean.
For the frosting we first had to prepare the gelatin, which has to stay in water until it is all soft and soaked.
Then we put together sugar and one egg, and mixed it above a double boiler, until it got all creamy.
Next, we mixed it with whipped cream. That was all it took to finish the frosting
Finally we were allowed to put the buns into the oven. When they were done, they had grown so much, I wasn't even sure if I could eat one all by myself (well, I'll try my best.... I guess I will be ok )
We then cut the buns in the middle and put the frosting in it, and decorated them a bit more.
In the end we had a lot of little monsters - as it is Halloween really soon I liked them a lot
I even ate more than just one in the end

Vienna, Bisamberg, Austria - 21st October 2012
By: Mausbären
Hi there!
Today we went to the Bisamberg. This is a small mountain, which is really next to Vienna. We first checked out on a map which way we wanted to take, to explore the mountain, and then read about the historical significance of the bisamberg.
We had loads of fun climbing trees, and just enjoying the woods, even though the weather was already quite "halloweenish."

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
As today it is Halloween, Drescher and me decided, we wanted to make jack o'lanterns. We soon found pumpkins to work on, we cut them open, and started to hollow it out. - I didn't like that part especially, because it was such hard work, but somebody had to do it
Then each of us cut a face into the pumpkin - mine looked spectacular
The rest of the pumpkin was used to make a soup.
We also made other lanterns which I liked a lot.
