Farmington, NM, USA - 5th July 2007
By: wourpet
Hello everybody. I have been hoping to get on here but I have been hanging around not doing much of anything since we came here from Springerville Arizona. My brothers have been traveling all over the place and Azul even got released in the wild. It wasn't intentional but he jumped out of his pouch in the parade.
Morado and Picado have travelled a lot from Australia to Canada and Coney joined the army and is in Baghdad right now.
Anyway -- I finally get to go some places. Click here for a video of our trip to Farmington.

New Mexico, USA - 5th July 2007
By: wourpet
Well this has been a very exciting day! First I found out I was going to be able to go on vacation because Azul is loose in the wild. Then a package arrived with 2 new friends that will be coming with us.
Henry is an interesting pooch and he has a secret book with his secret missions that he wouldn't tell Budd and I about. Budd was very tired from the long trip but she and I will have a lot of fun at the lake.

New Mexico, USA - 7th July 2007
By: wourpet
Wow! Today has been really busy and we have been bounced about a lot getting ready to go camping. I got really excited to find out we get to stay in a trailer not a tent -- it is going to be so much fun. This is a picture of me and Henry and Budd all loaded up in the camera bag and ready to go. We leave later this morning so we're going to get some sleep now.

Rio Arriba County, USA - 7th July 2007

We stopped along the road on the way across the San Juan Mountains and the view was spectacular. I asked my host to please hang on very tightly so I wouldn't tumble off the mountain.

Trinidad, Colorado, USA - 8th July 2007
By: wourpet
We made it into Trinidad last night so I had to wait until this morning to look around. It is a cute little town with lots and lots of art shops and museums. Many of the streets are paved with bricks and there is a trolley that will take you for rides around downtown. We walked and it was a wonderful afternoon.

Trinidad Lake State Park, USA - 9th July 2007
By: wourpet
We are camping at Trinidad lake and it has been raining. The wind blew very hard for awhile but we are safe in the trailer. For now I will sit and wait for it to stop raining so Henry and Budd and myself can go back outside and explore. Henry and Budd said they get lots of rain where they come from but I have been living in the desert so it seems very strange.

Trinidad Golf Course, USA - 10th July 2007
By: wourpet
Today I was hoping to go shopping but we went golfing instead.
I didn't actually get to golf but I was able to drive the cart around. It was quite fun but I worried about a sunburn. It was very sunny and you can see Fisher's Peak in the distance.

Colorado, USA - 11th July 2007
By: wourpet
Today I finally got to go shopping and I picked up some lovely postcards for Henry and then Budd and I got to go up a very high hill above the town. The place is called Simpson's Rest and you can see all the way around in a circle.
When I looked down I could see the town of Trinidad where I had been shopping. The stores look very small but they were sure big when I was in them.

Capulin, NM, USA - 13th July 2007
By: wourpet
When we left Trinidad Colorado we went south to Raton New Mexico but when we should have turned west to get back to Farmington our host decided to surprise Henry with a special adventure. We went, instead, to Capulin New Mexico where we were able to walk around the rim of an old volcano and Henry even got to go inside.
Budd and I stayed on top and marvelled at the wonderful view.

Taos, NM, USA - 14th July 2007
By: wourpet
Just west of Taos is a community of Earthships. They are very strange looking homes made of a lot of recycled materials and totally self sustaining with solar and wind power.
I took a tour and thought and found a wall made out of tires and a fence made from pop cans. It was all covered with stucco and looked nice on the outside. In the picture I am beside some of the walls made with glass bottles -- they sparkled in the sun.
Inside were some beautiful gardens that they told us were growing with the dirty wash water.

It was very very hot when we got back to Farmington. Budd and I went out to the back yard to check the garden and were very greatful for the hats our host gave us to wear. It was 100 F degrees.
Even the Cactus looks droopy.

Albuquerque, NM, USA - 3rd August 2007
By: wourpet
I had a really boring trip this week. I went to the Blue Star Mother's convention but since I am just an associate member and can't vote I was not allowed to do much but sit and listen -- and it was bo-o-o-o-ring.
On Friday afternoon my host did take me for a walk on the plaza. Downtown Albuquerque is right on the old Route 66 and had some very neat shops. We didn't have much time to visit them though. There is a song about Route 66

Get your kicks on Route 66! |
Some parts of the trip were nice. We stayed at the Hyatt downtown and I did get to see lots of others and even met some new friends but my host kept forgetting to take any pictures. She wasn't bored like me because a lot of things happened at the meeting and she was a delegate.

While I was unpacking my suitcase I met Rita the Riveter. She apparently joined us in Albuquerque and came home with us. She was quite excited to get out of the cramped suitcase and was glad to meet me.
Rita the Riveter told me her namesake is actually Rosie the Riveter from WWII.

Today we had a going away party for Budd. It was very nice having her here and going camping and shopping and all the things we did.
We took pictures at the party when she was getting into her box. Wourpet said she got a first class ticket because she has been so good. I got to go to the post office and wave goodbye.

San Juan County Fair, USA - 11th August 2007
By: wourpet
I was very disappointed yesterday that I did not get to go to the parade and hand out candy or carry the banner or ride on our float. It was the Blue Star Mothers float and I am an associate because my brother Coney is in the army. Wourpet said she did not want to risk me getting lost or disappearing like my brother Azul did in the last parade.
But today she took me to the fair. We worked at the gate putting wristbands on lots of people and then we ate a very yummy supper but when we went to the carnival I saw SOOOO MANY other toys.
There were booths and tents full of them with them hanging all over and stuffed on shelves. There were even tents that looked like toys. I wanted to meet them all but Wourpet thought it was funny when I told her that.
