Travelog for: Azul

Springerville AZ, USA - 24th March 2007

My family and I were picked up by Hale, a little brown bear, and after spending an afternoon touring around that area (and the old John Wayne ranch) we headed to Farmington New Mexico. Click here for a movie of our trip.
My brothers Picado and Morado have already headed out traveling on their own.  Coney has joined the army and has been deployed.  Clara and Rosa are still at home with me and our friend in Farmington.  Morado brought a friend home with him from Florida, Florence, but she is off traveling in Europe.

On the trip to Farmington we saw some neat rock formations.  Much of the landscape was lava flows and at Shiprock the 'rock' is really just the core of a volcano from thousands of years ago.

Hale has a blog where he keeps track of what we do -- you can see it here.

Hovenweep Utah, USA - 17th June 2007

By: wourpet

Today we traveled through 3 states in the US.  We started at home in Farmington and went to Colorado and then to Montezuma Creek in Utah.  On the way back we went to Hovenweep National Monument because it was only about 20 miles out of our way.

Human habitation at Hovenweep dates to over 10,000 years ago when nomadic Paleoindians visited the Cajon Mesa to gather food and hunt game. These people used the area for centuries, following the seasonal weather patterns. By about A.D. 900, people started to settle at Hovenweep year-round.

San Juan College, New Mexico, USA - 27th June 2007

By: wourpet

Today I got to go to class at San Juan College in Farmington.  The first class was a computer class and I had fun learning how to send an email.  It was a little hard at first because I was afraid of the mouse but my host told me it doesn't bite.

In the afternoon class I was asked to give a presentation to the class and tell them all about toy voyagers.  It was really cool because I got to use the instructors computer and project it on the wall for everybody to see.

The afternoon class was on computers too but it was on the other side of campus and we learned how to edit photos.

I told the other students I would like to take more classes with them but I had a lot of traveling I wanted to do first.

Next week I get to go camping at Trinidad Lake in Colorado.  My host said I can bring a friend with me too.

Farmington, NM, USA - 4th July 2007

Azul is off on his own.  He was very helpful this afternoon and evening and helped put a float together for the Freedom Days parade.
He even got to sit on the float for awhile and thought this was quite a lot of fun.

The parade started at 9 o'clock at night and Azul was quite excited but somewhere along the parade route he seems to have jumped out of his pouch and wandered off.  I know he was quite excited about all the nice people gathered on the sidewalk and I am sure he found someone he wanted to spend some time with.  I look forward to hearing his travel updates.

Looking for Azul, USA - 19th July 2007

By: wourpet

This photo was taken the last time the entire Conejo family was together in March of 2007.  It was taken in Springerville, Arizona, USA
Although they are currently seperated, the whereabouts of all but Azul are known.  Sadly, Azul is missing and the family is desperately hoping he will report in soon.http://i147.photobucket.com/albums/r285/wourpet/Travel%20Toys/100_0226.jpg

Missing in, USA - 29th February 2008

By: wourpet

It is suddenly of the utmost importance that the Conejo family rounds up all the strays and travelers for a family reunion at Easter.  It would seem that Ahumado (Coney) Conejo is due to return from Iraq.  His timing, even if we don't know the eexact date, is excellent since it was one year ago on March 24 of 2007 that the Conejo family were rescued in Springerville Arizona and set off on their worldly adventures.  However it seems the fate of the Conejo family is not a happy one and many may have possibly ended up in the stew pot.

Coney joined the army and was soon in Baghdad traveling around in tanks and hummers.  Azul ran off with a new and unknown friend following a July 4th parade and is likely deep in the Navajo Nation with no internet communication and unable to report in.  Picado has clocked a remarkable amount of miles as he has crisscrossed the globe and is currently in California.  He will make one last visit to Florida before returning home for the reunion.  Morado has just started out on the Russian TVT so he will not be able to make it home, or so he says, but the pictures from Germany and Russia are indicative of a fondness for partying.  Rosa spent most of the year at home waiting for Coney but was invited by a park ranger (after she had left her wallet and ID behind at Aztec Ruins National Park) to visit a friend in France where she would be able to reach a life mission and visit a winery.  First, though, she would spend some time with the Park Ranger, including a road trip around Montana. She traveled from the snow of Montana to the vinelands of France in December and will hopefully be heard from again this spring.  Maybe she can even come home for the reunion and then return to France.  Blanche went to Australia and it would appear she fell into the fate every little rabbit worries about  -- the stew pot – and she was never heard from again.  All attempts to contact her host or to have her moved on have gone unanswered.  The rest of the Conejo family is of little help.  With Azul missing in action on the Navajo Nation, or maybe also in the stew pot, Rosa snowed either under in the wilds of Montana or crushing grapes in France, or also in the stew pot,  Morado partying and dancing in Russia, and sufficiently stewed even if he’s not in a pot and Blanche in the billycan -- it is going to be a sad affair when Picado is the only Conejo present to welcome his brother Coney home from his long deployment in Baghdad.

It would be so good if the Conejos could find their way back home.
