Toulouse, France - 11th July 2007
By: Mistigree
One evening, there was a TV show about the couturier Karl Lagerfeld. Of course, I watched it with much interest !! There was my model, Claudia Schiffer, who was talking about Lagerfeld, and Mistigree took a picture of both of us... Well..., I know what you're going to say...this is not a real encounter between me and Claudia as she was behind the screen, but I was proud even so !!

When we go outside, and as Mistigree doesn't have a car (she doesn't even have her driving licence !), I am compelled to travel in the basket of her bike !! It is not very comfortable, and as it is often windy here (there is a wind that they call "le vent d'Autan"), I always have to do my hair again and again as this "vent d'Autan" is tousling my hair every time !!
The brand of Mistigree's bike is "Louison Bobet". She told me he was a famous French racing cyclist, who won 3 times the "Tour de France" in the 50's !!

As I have already been to Jean-Paul Gaultier's shop with Mood, we went to Christian Lacroix's... but guess what ??? They didn't allow me to enter into the shop as they were afraid that I might make the clothes dirty if I lose some hairs !! I was terribly upset and I felt humiliated !!
Then we went to Dior... I was filled with admiration for all those jewellery and I was thinking that maybe Mistigree would buy me something, but when we looked at the prices, it was tremendous !!!! For exemple a little necklace was costing more than the amount that Mistigree earns in a year at her work !!!!

As Toulouse is known to be the city of violets (the flower), Mistigree wanted me to taste violet syrup, so we went in a café (called the Flower's café), where I was served a big glass of this violet drink. It was sweet and fruity, a very nice and surprising flavour !
In this café, there was an old dummy wearing old French barman clothes, made up of a white jacket and a green apron.

Mistigree, my host, likes eating cereals a lot, and she has plenty of cereals bottles in her kitchen. She showed me a cereals packet, whose brand was ... ALPINA !! It is a French product called "crozets" made of buckwheat and manufactured in Savoie, just near the mountains Alps.
I'm going to send my curriculum vitae to François Fraissard, the manufacturer, as I'm sure I would be a perfect model for his further advertising campaign !

Every time we have to go out, Mistigree is angry with me because -according to her- I spent too much time in the bathroom !! She can't understand I have to keep my elegance as a top model, and I need all my cleansing lotions, anti-wrinkle creams and make-up to be at the top of my beauty !
I discovered this bottle of " S a v o n d e M a r s e i l l e " in Mistigree's bathroom. She told me it was manufactured in South-East of France, in Provence, and that it should be good for my skin and not irritant at all, so I'm going to try it ! That one contains lavender essential oil, but Mistigree thinks the original and real " S a v o n d e M a r s e i l l e " has no fragrance at all.

In Germany, I use to have a car driver who takes me where I want to go.
Here in France, when Mistigree can not ride her bicycle because of the weather (too windy or too hot), I'm condemned to take the tube !! Hopefully, as Toulouse is not a big city as Paris, the tube is quite small, clean, and new. There are only 2 lines, and the second one has just opened 15 days ago !
But what a pity that the colours of the seats and of the tube itself are so gaudy !!!

We went to the town centre today. As I was afraid to get lost, Mistigree showed me this big map of Toulouse on the floor, so that if I got lost, I could easily find my way back to her home.
In the corner of the map, you can read TOLOSA. It is the name for Toulouse, but being written in "Occitan", a local and old patois. You can also see the coat of arms of Toulouse, which is made of : a lamb, two monuments (Château Narbonnais & Basilique Saint-Sernin), the key of Toulouse, the "Croix Occitane" (the red and yellow cross) and some "Fleurs de lys"

Place du Capitole, Toulouse, France - 13th July 2007
By: Mistigree
Here is the Townhall. It is called "le Capitole" and is situated on a big place (called "Place du Capitole" !) with many archways around it. As you can see, there is the French blue/white/red flag, as well as the European one and the Occitan one.

Grand Hôtel de l Opéra, Toulouse, France - 13th July 2007
By: Mistigree
There is a luxury hotel near Place du Capitole called "Grand Hôtel de l'Opéra" (as the Opera is Place du Capitole also), so I decided to explore it, as I use to move in luxury places.
Here is the gate.
I thought there would be a groom to open the door to me, but I waited in vain and nobody came at all, so I pushed this heavy door by myself and entered into the hotel.
Mistigree asked if we could visit the hall and take a picture and the woman at the reception desk said yes. She even asked Mistigree -talking of me- "is she traveling ?"
The hall was big, with heavy curtains, big chandeliers, and beautiful blue sofas.

Hôtel d Assézat, Toulouse, France - 13th July 2007
By: Mistigree
In Toulouse there are many houses that are called "Hôtels particuliers" (I think the translation may be "mansion houses"). They are not hotels where we can sleep, they are beautiful big houses with most of the time a nice courtyard. I went to see the Hôtel d'Assézat. This one contains a museum (paintings, objects and furniture), but we did not go to the museum as it was sunny, we prefered to stay outside.

The river "Garonne" crosses Toulouse, so there are many bridges. The most famous is "Le Pont Neuf" that you see just behind me.

This tower is not a lighthouse, but an old water tower, that has been transformed into a photograph gallery, whose exhibitions change regularly. Maybe one day, there will be an exhibition of MY pictures ?! I'll send them my pressbook in the case they might be interested...

Mistigree s home, Toulouse, France - 13th July 2007
By: Mistigree
When we came back home, I played with Mrs Van de Kaub (a future ToyVoyager who has just married and will soon go on a honey moon with her husband). The game is called "jeu des blasons" and consists in finding pairs of cards that are the same. On each card there is a French blazon. It enabled me to learn a bit more about French heraldry and to see the "Croix occitane" better.
