Travelog for: JamesCraig

Schöneiche bei Berlin, Germany - 24th February 2013

By: Sammy

Good day Ladies and Gentlemen,

this is my first post in my official travelog.

I'm reporting in...

The name's Craig, James Craig.

People possibly assume that I'm related to a famous James Bond, who usually is called 007. I am not related to him. Yet one could muse about some certain similarities concerning our appearance.
If you will have a closer look on his ears and his hair cut in Skyfall and compare it with my looks, you will possibly be able to tell that we can't hide a certain resemblance.  B)
I like to call this a lucky coincidence, because I came to know that James Bond is liked by many people - especially women.
I too want to be liked.  ;)

Today I went outside to a city close to my home. It is about 15 minutes away from home, if one is going by car. It takes less time, if you are speeding, but this is dangerous - especially since we have snowy weather and the streets can be slick with ice.

However it has been a great day for a walk outside. Schöneiche bei Berlin is a wonderful place and it offers lots of nature.

I like horse riding and the outdoors. I've been lucky to find some ponies and horses while being on the walk I took.

It has been fun to pose with the ponies!

Sadly one of them mistook my tail for food and tried to bite me. (I bet something like this wouldn't happen to famous James Bond.) The situation gladly turned out to be less dangerous than I was assuming in the first moment. The bite had been gentle and my tail didn't get damaged.

Back at home I've been able to warm up with hot coffee and strawberry cake.

End of Report

Rüdersdorf bei Berlin, Germany - 4th March 2013

By: Sammy

Today has been the big day: I started my travel to my first host. Thanks to the lovely Linda Fdph I'm able to go to Bali! I'm sooo looking forward to this trip!  :D

Before I started my trip I said good bye to my home.

It probably has been my last lunch in Germany for quite a while. We had "Kartoffelpuffer". This is potato pancake and like the name already suggests it is made from potatoes. One can eat those potato pancakes in lots of different styles.
My favorite way to eat it is to put some sugar on top of the potato pancake and enjoy it. But I also liked the taste of the potato pancake with stewed pears.

After lunch I checked out my mom's decoration for Easter. Here in Germany Easter gets celebrated. Tradition has it that one paints eggs in pretty colors and hides those together with sweets for the children.
I won't be home for Easter. I will miss this.

In the afternoon it was time to prepare for my journey to Bali and I jumped into a little package. My mom also made me take along a little gift for my host. I'm so looking forward to get to know Linda and Bali.

I hope I will have a safe trip... I don't really like to travel in boxes...  B)

Kertagosa-Klungkung-Bali, Indonesia - 28th March 2013

By: Linda Fdph

Dear Mum

Here is my picture when iam visited Klungkung, Bali's smallest district  located between Gianyar and Karangasem. Klungkung itself is a bustling town. On reaching the town centre. Klungklung was the base of the ancient Javanese Hindu Kingdom in Bali, from where the Balinese royalty of today draws its bloodline. It is the oldest kingdom in Bali, with a most exalted Kings.
In Klungung we also visit Kertagosa,an old building of jurisdiction and legislation and is one of the main areas in Bali that has been important throughout history in the development of modern Bali. Located within the district of Klungkung in the north of the island and is an excellent and grand old area with amazing history. The words Kertha Gosa mean peaceful announcement which has been the prime focus of the Kertha Gosa throughout history. The inside and outside of the Kertha Gosa and all around it there is some amazing art in the form of paintings and carvings of wood and stone. This is an area unlike the temples of Bali and the feel is very different. Here at the Kertha Gosa the focus is on power and the importance of the legal system as it was here that trials and penalization was carried out. When inside the Kertha Gosa it is easy to feel how it must have been in the old days when the trials and deep discussions on the politics of the area where carried out. The Kertha Gosa is not only of great cultural value but many of the artifacts and artwork that is inside the building has been deemed extremely valuable although obviously it will remain inside.
I also take a picture with modern Indonesian girls, they are still using their traditional dress called kebaya for some occasion, like attending the party, ceremonially occassion like graduating from their school, attending wedding ceremony, pray to the Gods etc.

Legian-Kuta-Bali, Indonesia - 10th May 2013

By: Linda Fdph

Dear Mum

Here iam in Legian - Kuta - Bali

Legian Road or Jalan Legian is the main street that runs north-south from Kuta to Seminyak on the island of Bali in Indonesia. Legian Road contains a variety of shops, bars, hotels and dance clubs. Its proximity to the beach and its prominent night life make it host to thousands of tourists. Legian is notorious for shopping and partying, with many areas offering traditional market shopping where shop owners are amenable to haggling and usually give shoppers an initial inflated price. Legian is one of the cheaper locations after dark and the road will begin to get busy at 11pm, peaking in traffic around 1 or 2 in the morning before easing down again around 4:30am. With such a cluster of hotels, shops and bars around Legian, the street can experience intense amounts of traffic. It can take up to 10 or 15 minutes to move forward 1 mile during some rush hours.
But here iam took a picture in front of sacred temple in the busy area of Legian

And at least , iam spending my time with enjoyed coffee in J.CO Donuts & Coffee , a cafe retailer in Indonesia specializing in donuts, frozen yogurt and coffee, and lunch with Indonesia popular one food, called Gado-Gado and Siomay, completed with their spicy peanut sauce

Sanglah-Bali, Indonesia - 19th July 2013

By: Linda Fdph

Hello Mom
Iam with Balinese Offerings.
Offerings are called banten in Balinese. It is possible that the word comes from the Sanskrit word bali, which means tribute, obligation or gift. Or it may be derived from the word enten, which means to wake up or be conscious. It is a consciousness of the gods.
One of Offerings called "Gebokan"  consist of fruits, money, food and flowers ·

Pacet-East Java, Indonesia - 1st October 2013

By: Linda Fdph

Dear Mom

We spending a lot of time in Grandpaw n Grandmaw home in East Java after the hostmom exam completed.
We play in the rice field behind Grandpaw home.  In Indonesia , rice is major source of food for the majority of the population. It is a plant that requires plenty of water and heat. In Java, Bali, and other islands in Indonesia the rains are so plentiful that it is possible to grow three or four rice crops a year. Rice fields are surrounded by low walls to maintain the water at a time when fields are flooded. In mountain areas, the paddy fields form terraces where water flowing from the top successively fills each of them. Planting, harvesting and threshing rice is a slow process done by hand.
