Maple Ridge, BC, Canada - 5th April 2011

By: AbbyB

We are making an Afghani/Pakistani cookie called khatai.  They are really easy to make and just happen to be vegan.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit (180 degrees celcius).

First you mix together 1 1/2 cups of flour, 3/4 cup of sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of ground cardamom.

Next, you add 3/4 cup of oil.  You are supposed to use corn oil, but there wasn't any, so we used a mixture of olive oil and hazelnut oil.

This is what it should look like.

Next you drop little balls onto your cookie sheet.  Do not forget to cover your cookie sheet with parchment paper!

Place them in the oven for 15 minutes.

Once they are out of the oven, sprinkle them with chopped pistachios and let them cool completely.

Duisburg, Germany - 23rd April 2011

By: BlackCat

Hello everybody,

while having a walk we found this coal-fired power station. After the things that happened in Japan, we were really scared. But BlackCat said that this isnít as dangerous as the nuclear power station in Japan.

Gelsenkirchen, Germany - 23rd May 2011

By: BlackCat

Hey out there,

Today we visited Gelsenkirchen. It has a reason. Last weekend FC Schalke 04, the favourite soccer club of BlackCat and her boyfriend, won the DFB cup. We all watched the game and were so happy. So today we wanted to visit some places that are important for the FC Schalke 04, and so we did. Look at the pictures.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/May/23/tv_6.jpg
This is right next to the so called "Kampfbahn" - the place where the story of FC Schalke 04 started. There is still a soccer field, but it is just used by the little players of Schalke now.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/May/23/tv_21.jpg
The fanshop has a lot of nice stuff to buy.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/May/23/tv_28.jpg
That's the headquarter.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/May/23/tv_38.jpg
They even have cars with their emblem on it.

Hello everyone,

today we made a walk through the part of the city where BlackCat is living. It is called "Kray". First we saw the town hall of Kray:

Gelsenkirchen, Germany - 23rd June 2011

Hey mummy,

today we visited a part of the former coal mine Consolidation. The part is called Oberschuir. It has really nice old houses and looks so totally different to the former coal mines BlackCat visited until now. Only the tower is the same kind. But see yourself!

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/June/23/23june_23.jpg

There were houses next to it which were a part of the coal mine some years ago as well.

Really nice there, or? We loved it a lot.

Love,
Marty

Heyho,

today I said Goodbye to my friends here. I hope my travel will be short. I have some food with me, so I won't get hungry too soon.
