Hey,

right after we said Goodbye to Marty, a new Toy arrived here. His name is Ceryni and he said he comes from Hamburg, which is not soooo far away.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/June/24/24june_4.jpg
First he was a little shy to come out of the envelope.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/June/24/24june_7.jpg
But then it was okay and we made a group photo.

Love,
Herlinde

Essen, Germany - 2nd July 2011

By: BlackCat

Hey mummy,

today BlackCat showed us the castle ruin Altendorf.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/July/02/02july_2.jpg
From the street, we already saw that.

http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x377/toyvoyagersfriend/2011/July/02/02july_4.jpg
That's how the ruin could have looked in 1200.

Haltern (am See), Germany - 31st July 2011

By: BlackCat

Hello everyone,

today we made a walk through Haltern (am See). Why do I write (am See)? It is because it was just added for tourists. The city is still called Haltern everywhere, but the signs say Haltern am See and such. It is just for tourists. Funny, or? Changing a city name for tourists...

We had a nice time in the old town of Haltern. But see yourself, we made some photos.

It is a nice town and I hope we'll go back there one day.

Hello,

today we made a walk through the fields of Essen-Kupferdreh. It was a really long walk, but we really enjoyed it.

Can you see the lake in the middle? It is far away. It is the Lake Baldeney. And the black points on the field in front of us are cows...but they were too far away for a better photo with me.

Remscheid, Germany - 23rd October 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi there,
I came home in September after having a fantastic time in Essen with BlackCat. This weekend we are having wonderful weather, so I went out for a walk with my Mummy and Scotty.

First we walked to the district Hasten, one of the oldest districts of the municipal area.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6045/6272669435_5e7eb46af2_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6217/6273195772_cc1e177416_o.jpg

You can find really lovely houses here.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6041/6272669817_9c004dc8e7_o.jpg

The next shot was an extremely dangerous one :)

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6223/6273203104_57136b93f0_o.jpg

The German Tool Musuem (Deutsches Werkzeugmuseum) is situated in Remscheid. Even in their outdoor facility you can find some machines and tools.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6056/6272670217_98f627b0bb_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6054/6272670375_b3d5d69635_o.jpg

You can also find a wonderful Patrician Villa here, built in late 18th century, also containing a museum.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6222/6272670555_6f3f0c4954_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6114/6272670871_d93a8c3298_o.jpg

Like you can see, this district is surrounded by woodland. In the background you can see suburbs of the neighbour city Wuppertal.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6033/6272671005_7a54972ec4_o.jpg

We walked downhill towards Morsbach Valley (Morsbachtal).

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6060/6272671263_dcde754d77_o.jpg

There is a farm situated in the valley. They have horsers, dogs, sheep and geese in the yard.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6108/6272671477_065a6cb8d4_o.jpg

Mummy, told me that those cryptic signs were route markings for hiking trails. Ehe encircled "R" means "Roentgenweg", a hiking trail following the borders of the municipal area of Remscheid, about 65 km long. The encircled "W" means "Rund um Wuppertal", this hiking trail is even more than 120 km long. The other markings belong to shorter trails, about 10 km long.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6223/6273197744_eb85d75408_o.jpg

We reached a small hamlet than, I especially liked this tiny house. Mummy told me that it had been restored in the last years to prevent it from decaying.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6040/6273198090_d26a01cb96_o.jpg

Can you spot the tiny house on this historical photo?

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6049/6273197900_7505b72663_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6053/6273198282_452f3c693b_o.jpg

We found a funny mirror :)

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6093/6272672355_711ded96bd_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6060/6273198602_480cb26901_o.jpg

When we walked along allotment gardens I found those purple berries.

Bye

Solingen, Germany - 29th October 2011

By: olgamaus

Hello everyone,
today I visited one of my favourite places of my home region: Schloss Burg in Solingen.

Schloss Burg is a medieval castle, situated high above the river Wupper. It was built in 1133 by Count Adolf I von Berg on a hill above the river Wupper. bout a hundred years later it was enlarged by Count Engelberg II von Berg. In Thirty Years War (17th century) large parts of the castle were destroyed. It was rebuilt then, but it was used for industrial purposes for many years. In the end of the 19th century they began to rebuild it as it appears today.

Before we got to the castle we took a walk in the lovely surroundings of the castle.

Here you can see the castle, still in the distance.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6222/6292235659_c859db9f6c_o.jpg

We saw a defence tower. It was built for protecting the outer line of defence, some hundred meters apart from the castle.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6237/6292235517_34eb1f7074_o.jpg

Here you can see me with my travelling friends. There are also some TVs which were brought by , who is visiting us for a few days.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6056/6315166387_aa287c3b4d_o.jpg

Soon we reached the castle. A market for decorative arts is taking place here, as well in the courtyard as in the castle itself.

Wuppertal, Germany - 1st November 2011

By: olgamaus

Today we visited the zoo in Wuppertal, one of the neighbour cities.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6049/6312770626_9f11305d6c_o.jpg

They built a new house for the penguins recently. They were swimming right above my head!

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6049/6312772788_674d22bb53_o.jpg

I liked the elephants.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6222/6316132150_e843eaa6ab_o.jpg

When we went home my Mum showed me the old station building, nowadays a restaurant is situated in the building.

By: Jellyfish

Hi Mum,

I arrived safely in Castrop-Rauxel on time, because my Host's Parents flight to Turkey nearly the next day.
And now I have time to show you all the great pictures from me and what I've seen.

This is me in the airplane. It was very exciting to fly with it. First I thought I could fly by myself, but the airplan is much faster than me!

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn311/JKyoko/Foto0069.jpg
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn311/JKyoko/Foto0070.jpg

After a short bus trip we reached the Hotel. It was beautiful there and the bed was very soft.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn311/JKyoko/Foto0071.jpg

The Hotel was called Hotel Dragon, and I saw some dragons there!
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn311/JKyoko/Foto0072.jpg

After a long journey I was glad to go into the soft bed and sleep.
Soon I will show you all the trips I made and what places I see.
