Budapest, Hungary - 11th September 2007
By: Szandra
Hello!!!
I have already arrived to Hungary! Sorry for haven't updated my blog earlier, but Szandra had busy days, then she became a little ill and I nursed her!
Today she felt herself better, so we decided to make a little excursion and see the main sights of Budapest. We had fickle weather, but we didn't give up our trip because of a little rain!
At first we went to see the Heroes sqare, there was a big ceremony with a lot of soldiers and policemans, so I was a bit shy... I asked Szandra to visit first the Castle of Vajdahunyad and go back to the square when it will be calmer.
I enjoyed walking in the park of the castle. There wasn't many people, and I could meet with some friendly birds! When I got tired, I lied down into the grass...hmmm..it was very soft!

Then, we returned back to the Heroes square. Just in the great time, the soldiers started to leave the place.
On the square I saw the Millennium Monument.
The monument created as a memorial to 1000th anniversary of the Hungarian settlement, is a determinant work of art of the Heroes' Square. 14 renowned figures of the Hungarian history found their place in this composition, which has been redesigned on several occasions. In the middle the spirit of victory personified by Archangel Gabriel stands on top of a 36 metre-tall column.

After that, we saw the Széchenyi Thermal Bath. I have to say, the weather was so cold, that I didn’t wish to go inside and swim…

We visited the Parliament too. I havn’t thought before that it’s so big, 268 metres in length and 118 metres wide. From the Parliament we didn’t have to go far to see the Danube. Wow, I was surprised that the water-level is so high. I heard that it generated some troubles, but now it stared to fall off.
