Menai Bridge, and surrounds, Wales - 24th June 2010
By: miapearl
My host decided to go out geocaching. We had to catch the bus
2 bus journeys we had a walk to find a cache at the HMS Conway.
After a walk in the woods, we managed to find a geocache
Then, it was time to walk across the Menai Bridge, over the Menai Straits.
This is the Menai Suspension Bridge.
Looking over the Menai Straits. Can you see the other bridge, the Britannia Bridge in the distance. That bridge carries the railway too.
Here we all are, from left to right, myself, Nippy,Mira, alfie langer and dotdog
Across the water, somewhere in that wood are the remains of the HMS Conway
There's the bridge we walked across. There's a geocache on the bridge, but with quite a few people walking across it, we didn't have the chance to have a look for it.
The Britannia Bridge.
Ok, we cheated a bit for this! There were lots of people walking along this section of the coastal path today so we didn't look for the geocache. We came back on Friday 25th when my host met her husband for lunch. He found the cache.

Caernarfon, Wales - 25th June 2010
By: miapearl
After meeting my host's husband for lunch to find the geocache, we came back to Caernarfon and relaxed at Y Maes, the town square.
The square had been recently redeveloped. Some people like it, others don't. One of the new features is this water thing in front of the war memorial. Children love to run through the water jets, either avoiding them, or through them. In the background, is the Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We didn't have long to enjoy the square because my host wanted to meet her son from school.

Today, after a brief trundle round Llandudno, we went geocaching to find a cache on a hill just outside Llandudno.
Conwy Castle is just visible.

Porthmadog, Wales - 27th July 2010
By: miapearl
Today, after my host bought the new issue of Royal Mail stamps with 2 years exactly to go before the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, we went to Porthmadog where the world famous Ffestiniog Railway has a station.
We didn't have time to take a train journey but could have a look at the train and engines.
2 engines will be pulling the train.
See the fire?

Moulton, England - 1st August 2010
By: miapearl
Came out for an evening stroll around the little village of Moulton near where my host's mum lives.
I like th village sign. The mill perhaps is the tallest mill, but unfortunately doesn't have any sails.
