Remscheid, Germany - 23rd April 2008
By: olgamaus
In the late evening we joined the birthday party. There were a lot of girls, some boys, a big pot full of delicious soup with leek, mincemeat and cheese. Alex also had a strawberry torte. Of course they had lots of beer, sparkling wine and coke.
We had a lot of fun. Though I am a little German dog I tried to say "I am a little dog and I love to party" in German. It seemed a little bit difficult. It sounded like
Ischbinein*rülps*kleinerhuhundundliiiiieeeebe*rülps*partieeesch
Maybe it is easier in English:
Ihamalittle*burp*dohoganIloveto*burp*paaaty
Better I try it again tomorrow
Bye

Hi Mommy,
today it's Katja's birthday. She is fourty-something years old now.
In the morning she had to go to work and in the afternoon her family came to have coffee and cake.
Later we opened a bottle of sparkling wine. She got a funny jelly candle in a a beer glass from her children. Can you see the "wrong" beer on the picture?
For dinner we ordered asian food. Everyone could choose what he liked. We had one vegetarian dish, one with beef, one with baked fish and one with chicken. It was delicious!
Bye

Remscheid, Germany - 30th April 2008
By: olgamaus
Hi Mommy,
my host told me that she is a member of Germany's biggest association for pet rat keepers. She is an active member who is working for the association's magazine. She also adopts pet rats that are given into an animal rescue or those who has been found when some irresponsible people released them into the wild or left them alone in the apartment when they moved out like a thiefe in the night.
On Friday two young rat girls will arrive here that has been brought pregnant into the animal rescue. One of has given birth to the babies on April, 20th and the other one on Katja's birthday. Katja told me that it is better for the rat babies to be raised within a family, so they can get used to be handled. In an animal rescue they have not enough time to handle the rats and to play with them. The rats are crepuscular animals, so they like playing and eating in the late evening. At his time every animal rescue is closed.
Of course the rat moms need a cage for themselves. Katja has an extra cage for them, but is only has one little door. So it would not be easy to clean the cage and to handle the rats. She cut a larger hole into the grid and made a larger door of an old hamster cage. She also built in a larger door into the cage top.
We helped her .... ähhm.... we played with her tools.
Here you can see us sitting in the cage with the now large doors.
I am very anxious to see the rat babies!
Bye

Rotterdam (dandilion's home), Netherlands - 8th May 2008
By: dandilion
Thursday evening 8 May 2008, Rotterdam
hello mommy! Here I am!
Dandilion released me from this enveloppe, it was getting too hot inside there. Im in Rotterdam now, and its really warm weather! Today 25 degrees, Im happy I arrived here!
Now I need a little chill out on dandilion's lovely balcony, before I will help her water her flowery plants.
Dandilion gave me a little help, as Im too small to hold on the watering cann all by myself. She said I did a good job helping her out, she also said that mommy will be proud!
I was a bit tired after helping out so I took a short break. Those pink flowers smelled really nice!
After a few minutes, dandilion took me back inside cause she wanted to watch her favourite show with me!
Its a show filmed in Australia, but I havent seen any kangaroo or koala in that show...dandilion explained whats the show is about, a sheep/cattle farm and the people who live there.
Mommy, have you ever heard of mcCleods Daughters? dandilion said to me she watches it every day! Its her favourite!
Im not sure I like it, dandilion said I could watch another programme during the break, so I tried understanding Dutch tv.. but dandilion need to help me with the translation..
Its getting late so we are going to sleep soon.
Tomorrow will be a early morning for us. And a busy day!
We are going by train to dandilion her postcrossing friend carolien25.
And I will meet with dandilion's pets: her rabbits, Im excited!!
bye now!

oirschot, netherlands - 10th May 2008
By: dandilion
Friday may 09, 2008
I went on the train to Oirschot, it took us 1,5 hours, I enjoyed watching the landscape and the graffitie pass by.
We arrived in sunny Oirschot, a green village in the Province "Noord Brabant".
Dandilion her friend from postcrossing lives here, and we walked around the village.
We walked and walked..I saw this cute old lady and I could sit for a bit in her basket:
We passed some small shops, where we went inside a delicious shop.
Can you spot me here with all that cheese?
On our walk we came passed the biggest chair of whole Europe! Dandilion helped me getting up there,
It was so funny, she couldnt het off!! Some man who walked there helped her it was very funny mommy.. but dandilion thought it wasnt that funny..
I had the best time sitting there on that BIG chair
At the end of our walk we arrived at Carolien her house, where we sat outside in the garden and had a refreshing drink.
There was a surprise for me! Meet up with Floor the Labrador pup who lives at Caroliens parents.
Floor thought she could play with me.. and she did for a bit, mommy it didnt hurt me when she took me in her mouth.. She is still a young pup and she didnt know I was not there as a toy for her, but visiting her.
dandilion helped me up in the tree, where Floor couldnt reach me, I overlooked everything from that hight
After we said goodbye to the dog, we continued our walk though the village.
We came accross an old windmill, where we stopped for some pictures
There we some grind stones from when the windmill was working years ago, I fitted right in the middle
This was a lovely day! I went straight to bed when we came back to dandilion her house. mommy, i will write you more soon, byebye

Rotterdam , netherlands - 11th May 2008
By: dandilion
hello mommy! Here another day has passed by before I knew it!
This morning I played with the fluffy animal in dandilion her house, we got introduceed to eachother, Pebbles is a very shy rabbit.
Here you can see me in the straw.
Dandilion told me unlike dogs they dont make a sound! They eat only rabbit food, vegetables and fruit. Hmm..yugh! I like to chew on a bone and eat some meat! Grrr!
Today dandilion took me on her bicycle we cycled to the famous stadium 'de Kuip'.
This foothball stadium belongs to the team called Feyenoord. The biggest club of the Netherlands, and the best club!(dandilion convinced me)
dandilion teached me to sing the theme song of feyenoord
"hand in hand kameraden, hand in hand voor feyenoord 1, geen woorden maar daden, leve feyenoord 1"
**
Besides foothball matches many great musicians played in de Kuip, such like Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna and famous Dutch musicians like Marco Borsato and Rene Froger.
We cycled on, we went to visit dandilion's her parents. They have a garden holiday house (allotment garden).
I finally meet with Skip the Border Collie dog.
Oww mommy Skip went crazy when she saw dandilion, they love each otehr very much!
I posed with Skip, she is very nice! And very pretty, dont you think so?
We went walking around the island van Brienenoord.
This island lies in the river Maas. There are many garden holiday homes here, dandilion spent all her summers here growing up. She told me it was the best time ever! And now I know why, a big forrest where you can walk, cycle and play!
I noticed they have a concrete cow in the garden, and I had to sit on it.
And some other animal statues, this is a funny creature hey?
Together with Skip we went walking towards the van Brienenoord brigde, there was alot of car traffic coming over the bridge, but funny enough I couldnt really hear it.
Skip and I played a game, she ran away and came back to us.. she listen very good to dandilion...better then me mommy...
After the running we lied down for a rest in the sunshine
After a couple of minutes we walked to the river and enjoyed the view over the water, we saw some boats passing by.
We walked further and I saw something really strange! Mommy: I meet with 4 real cows, well they are not the avarage Dutch black and white cows! They are Scottish Highlander cows! Now you ask me what are they doing there?
Well since a few years they graze on the island, people from nature organisations decide it be good for the natural envirnmont and the encrease of nature life that they be there.
There are 2 mother cows and 2 young calfs.
They are the same colour like me, but I saw they dont take good care of them selve.. I saw all knots in their fur!! And they smelled funny too!
After this long day we cycled back home.
Tomorrow is another day and another adventure...

hello mommy,
here is your moony again! It was such a relaxing week!!
Dandilion went to work and I stayed at home, so I had the place to myself!
I found out dandilion got a reall comphy big bed, I climbed up her bed and slept and slept for hours!
Another day dandilion her mother came to pick us up we went for a drive, we drove around to do some arrands.
I meet with dandilion her big sister, together we had a really nice meal, it was a bit spicey but very delicious
It was rice, potatoes with curry flavour, long green beans, green pepper and spicey chicken.
I talked for a very long time with dandilion her sister, she kept asking me questions and we laughed very much about how she speaks german.
Because I was so busy talking I kinda forgot to help dandilion preparing the dinner.
After the meal we had a nice cup of tea, pickwick tea is very popular in the Netherlands. we tried some flavours one was made of chewey wood.. very nice flavour! Im a dog so I like some wood to chew on
I hope dandilion will take me somewhere this weekend, she said something about shopping for a present..
