Schwägalp, Switzerland - 27th August 2012
By: Jasper
Hi mum
After a heavy thunderstorm in the night and a lot of rain in the morning, we took advantage of the first ray of sunshine for a little excursion. We drove through small villages and i saw lots of green meadows and cows.
We drove higher and higher into the mountains. Then we reached Schwägalp, a small pass 1352 meters above sea level.
With a cableway can reach the summit of Säntis. At 2502 meters above sealevel, Säntis is the tallest mountain in the Alpstein massif. The mountain is a highly visible landmark to its exposed northerly location within theAlpstein massif. From the summit six countries can be seen, if weather allows. Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, France and Italy.
Looking for the summit.
Here you can see me as a free climber!!
Having a little break.
After a little walk arround Schwägalp we enjoyed a big icecream. Yumyum.
Host mum told us, in April 1999, just beneath the summit of Säntis on the northern snowfield, a snow height of 816 cm was recorded.
There was also a murder, happened in winter 1922. The weather station keeper and his wife were murdered. It was only discovered because of missing weather reports. The truth about this double murder hence remains unclear to this day. Sooo scary.
We also visited a dairy.
First i had a ride on a cow.
Then i saw the big copper kettle in wich the milk is heated.
I had a look in the cheese cellar and to handicrafts.
After a last look at the summit we were on our way home.
A tired but happy little rabbit says bye, bye after a beautifull and exiting day.
Love, Lola

Host mum's home, Switzerland - 28th August 2012

Güezi mum
I've learned a bit swiss dialect. Sounds funny. This morning, after breakfast, while host mum took a shower, we (Salmonella, Pettersson, Angeli and i) decided to play a game. It's called "crazy maze"
We were so absorbed in the game, that we did'nt notice that's lunch time. For lunch we had a swiss specialty: Bratwurst and Röschti. And carrots!! I loved it.
After lunch and a little nap, host mum brought an envelope. We all were very curious to see what's probably in there.
Fiete was inside. We welcomed him warmly and he showed us his gifts.
Oho mum, there is still something i must tell you. I'm sleeping in a waterbed. Sound's good, except you have to share your bed with a fish. This fish is jumping around on the mattress EVERY NIGHT until we're green in the face.
I have to talk with host mum, maybe ther's an aquarium.
Lots of kisses from your little(greenish) rabbit.

Zürich, Switzerland - 2nd September 2012
By: Jasper
Hi mum
Host mum called us TV's yesterday:"We are going to visit the biggest city of Switzerland." So we jumped into her bag and off we went.
The weather didn't look very good.
After what feels like 100 hours (we were in a traffic jam) we arrived at Zürich, the biggest city of Switzerland.
There we visited the first thing "Prime Tower", the highest building of Switzerland. Completed 2011, 126 meters high, 36 floors.
From entrance to the first floor we had to use stairs. Then an elevator to 35th floor. From there everything looked sooo small.
When we go on to famous Bahnhofstrasse, with all its expensive shops, weather was getting worse and worse. Didn't matter, we had raincovers.
I saw some famous shops.
And Lindt und Sprüngli, the luxury swiss chocolate and confectionery company.
I quickly sat on a Rolls Royce.
I saw swiss national bank, stock market and expensive hotels.
We walked on to lake Zürich, had small talk with a swan and saw one of many excursion boats.
We discovered a nice clock, build with flowers,
and a small harbor for sailing- and motorships.
A little look around, and then go on. The weather was to nasty.
After a little walk we reached old town with Frauenmünster, one of the wellknown churches and a nice place in old town.
We walked on to Grossmünster, another church, and to river Limmat.
This was my day in Zürich. At night i felt into my bed exhausted.
I love this city - and i love you mum.
Your little rabbit

And afterwards you smell soo good. Now i'm in a hurry, host mum has called. There's something to do.
Love you mum

Host mum's home, Switzerland - 5th September 2012
By: Jasper
Hi mum
It is autumn here in Switzerland. It rained a lot in the last few days and it's getting colder, no weather for my sundress. Host mum has knitted me a pullover. Do I look good?
Yesterday Pettersson, the little moose, has received an invitation to Germany. At night, when everyone was asleep, we celebrated a small farewell party. With sparkling wine, olives, Swiss cheese and Italian breadsticks. We have lit candles and sang songs.
This morning we all hugged Pettersson and wished a safe journey.
Host mum then brought him to the post. Upon their return, we harvested basil.
We've plucked the leaves from the stems
and then mixed them with salt and olive oil.
This paste, we have filled in small glasses.
Host mum used them in the winter for salad dressings, soups and tomato sauce. Maybe the weather is better tomorrow, then we can go hiking to the small river nearby.
Many greetings from your little rabbit
Lola

St.Gallen, Switzerland - 9th September 2012
By: Jasper
Hi mum, yesterday we took a trip to St. Gallen, the capital of the canton. We drove through nice little places and through beautiful countryside with lots of woods and meadows.
Now and then we saw cows grazing.
St.Gallen, with 73,000 inhabitants, is the largest town in Canton.
St.Gallen is known especially because of the monastery and the abbey library. But even the old city with the many small streets is worth seeing.
In contrast to the many old buildings, the city government is very modern.
We strolled through the monastery courtyard and admired the Cathedral.
In the old monastic buildings today, the cantonal government is housed.
The Cathedral has been described as one of the last monumental Baroque monasteries in the western world. It was completed in 1766.
The monks who founded the library books Considered as medicine for the spirit. The 150,000 strong collection continues to inspire visitors and scholars today.
Only 30,000 of the library's collection - books and manuscripts - can be seen. Some books are simply to precious to be shown in plublic. There are 400 books that are more than 1000 years old. Photographing was of course strictly forbidden.
The Convent of St. Gallen is Unesco world heritage site since 1983.
After visiting the monastery we had earned a break.
On the way home we host dad has shown the soccer stadium.
Coincidentally, we were able to witness a Désalpe.
From a distance we saw once again Säntis
and beautiful farmhouses.
Say bye, bye after an exiting day.
Love you mum
Lola
P.S. Think i did two missions at same time. What do you think, mum??

Alp Sellamatt, Switzerland - 11th September 2012
By: Jasper
Hi mum
yesterday was our host brother's proposal to visit the Churfirsten. The Churfirsten are a mountain range in the valley of Toggenburg. This Plating comprises seven peaks, all over 2000 meters high.
Therefore host mum calls it the mountains of Snow White. "Behind the seven hills, where the seven dwarfs ..." So we were on our way.
In perfect weather we drove up the Toggenburg to Alt St. Johann.
This small village is incidentally the hometown of the famous ski jumper Simon Ammann.
From there we took a cable car up the mountain to Alp Sellamatt, 1400 meters above sea level.
We had a wonderful view over the valley and the Säntis on the other side.
First, we walked along a path called the Sound Trail.
While hiking the sound path you can experience "how stone sounds",
or feel, how a tree transports sounds, or try out 23 different instruments. It was very funny.
We also saw pigs.
They looked very satisfied.
Later we came to a road that is called Path of Legends.
An exciting walk taking in several adventure stories, mythical legends and fantastic tales from Toggenburg.
Finally, we have looked at the Luke Chapel.
The ecumenical chapel of St. Luke is a few steps above the mountain inn surrounded by ancient firs.
This chapel fulfilled family Lötscher a big desire. They named it after their first grandson Luke. On a stone wall in front of the chapel we marveled once again the beautiful scenery.
Then we were on our way home.
After another exciting, wonderful day we fell into bed tired.
Bye for today
Your little rabbit Lola

at Thur and at home, Switzerland - 12th September 2012
By: Jasper
Hi mum,
Last night there was a thunderstorm and it began to rain. When we woke up this morning, it was still raining. At breakfast, we thought about what we could do today. It looked like a boring day. We sat on the balcony and watched the rain, when we heard a loud murmur. We asked host mum what it is. I show it to you, she said, grabbing us in her bag, took the umbrella and off we went. The way looked familiar, we went to the river Thur. Ooh, what a difference. You remember the romantic gorge?
The gentle green river?
Nothing more to see, only a brown flood.
When we opened the mailbox at home, we found a surprise. A packet.
We were curious to know what's inside.
We opened it and out came - zebra.
We welcomed and cuddled it.
Zebra is from Denmark and is married. Her full name is: Zebra Fru Hansen. Zebra brought many sweets and a card from home.
The day was not as boring as we thought.
See you, mum
Lola
