Today we visit the Castle of São Jorge.  It was royal residence until the early 16th century.



As it's on top of the hill, we get a great paranoma of the city.



This is remnants of the old gardens.



In the main square (Praça d'Armas) there are many cannons.



Watch out for enemies!!  Ready to fire!



We continue on to the castle.



You can see the Portugal flag.  The tower and wall was built during the Moorish occupation.



We see some peacocks around the castle ground.



I wonder what activities used to go on here?

The castle and tower had been rebuilt and fortified over time. 

Today I said goodbye to the first of us new tvs.
Josie is taking part at the GTVT. I hope she enjoys her journeys through Germany.
We all cuddled her. Bye bye little beautiful lady!

Today I left home for my first journey. I'm so excited!
Philly is also leaving today. He and Alex gave me a big hug for goodbye. I think I will miss them a little bit.

Charly arrived at his host's home in Iola, Kansas today! He is so excited to be journeying in the USA!

Charly helped the youth group kids make birthday cards for Elwin, who turns 91 tomorrow!

Charly went to Sabbath school, and afterward, got to enjoy church supper and wishing Elwin a happy 91st birthday!

Charly enjoyed the Thayer SDA youth group tonight. They sang songs, made crafts, and ate a delicious dinner!

Host mom grumbled about how gas prices are going up again... and this is the cheapest gas in the area

One of the TVs in our group has a life goal of visiting cemeteries, so we stopped at Foster Cemetery while in Topeka today!

After a long day of voyaging, we were hungry!! Host mom took us to CiCi's Pizza in Lawrence, yum!

It was so lovely outside this evening that host mom grabbed a few of the kids and the TVs, and walked down to Hillbrant House to see what's blooming!

Today, host mom took me walking in the opposite direction, where she said there was a lovely Bradford pear tree that she wanted to photograph me with. Then we walked over to the Cottonwood Garden where we found one bush blooming with dainty, white flowers. On the way home, she showed me one of her favorite houses. She said it was built in the late 1800s!

For today's journey, the host mom drove me over to Riverside Park, where we climbed over the dike and took a look at the river.
