Portsmouth, UK - 2nd February 2013

Hello!
Today we went for a walk to Frances' favourite place. It's a very pretty area. It's the closest part of the sea to her house, although when we were there the tide was out. If it had been in, we would have been swimming where we were!
We were quite interested in the boat, but couldn't go out to explore it because you can sink into the mud, so we enjoyed it from afar and also watched the birds in the area!

Birmingham, UK - 19th February 2013

Hello!
We are visiting the wonderful city of Birmingham!
We were very pleased when we arrived at our hotel and realised we could see so much of the city without even moving. We've got a great view!
We decided to move, though, and went for a walk along some of the canals. Before the railways and the roads were so good, people used to transport a lot of things by boat. Now, the canals are mostly used by people living in houseboats. The houseboats are so beautiful because people paint them with bright colours and patterns. They look really cosy inside - I would like to go in one some day!

Vienna, Austria - 29th March 2013

Gruss Gott!
We have just got home from Vienna! Frances' music class were going, so she took us along with them.
We travelled there and back by coach and ferry, which took about 22 hours but meant that we could watch Europe going past our window. We saw France, Belgium, and Germany, before we got to Austria! On the way home, Frances fell asleep and so when she went to get breakfast she tried talking to the people in German even though we were in Belgium!
We tried a lot of local food, like on the first night when we went to a Heuriger and tried their own wine, as well as schnitzel with cold potato salad. It was very yummy!
The class spent a lot of time walking around churches and graveyards assosciated with their favourite composers, so we sat in our host's bag where we could see everything, but hide away when we were out in the snow (it snowed a lot!)
From the cathedral tower, we were able to see a lot of the city, but we had to climb up a very tall spiral staircase to get there which was a bit scary!

Gunwharf, Portsmouth, UK - 11th April 2013
By: MySongIsLaughter
Hi!
Today, we went for a day out in Portsmouth. It was a really nice day, so we could spend some time outside! First, we went to the park to see the animals! There are lots of cool animals, and they have pictures up on the fence to show where they come from!
We then went to Gunwharf. It used to belong to the Navy, but now it's a tourist attraction with lots of shops and restaurants and things. They have many artefacts reminding people of the naval history, like this torpedo and this figurehead, and also the Spinnaker Tower which you can see for miles!
We went for a meal in a Japanese restaurant. Look at this tea - it has a flower in it! It smells really nice too, but the camera couldn't capture that!
We then went to the Historic Dockyards, where they filmed a lot of the Les Miserables film. They had a costume display - look at me with the costume Madame Thernardier wore!
