Today is was sunny then a huge black cloud came over and it hailed!! The temperature dropped by about 5 degrees, by the time we got out to look alot had melted but you can see a little of the hail stones

Today we are walking in the old part of the park in Gisborne

We had many goodbyes today, Elmar, Mr Shaun and Suomi-boy are all off on their travels


Ohhhh....look what I found here on a high shelf

too small for flying for me and a bit dusty but still interesting!

Hi Mum,

Today we are driving across Melbourne to visit family in Sherbrooke in the Dandenong Ranges

Hi Mum,
Today we can see some of the Sherbrooke Forest, there are some huge trees here



there are lots of walking tracks and picnic grounds here, but today it is very muddy because we have had lots of rain.

Hi Mum,

We are on our way to the beach today and have stopped for a look at a few of the bollards here, they tell the history of the local area.




back when this lady was swimming the men and women had to swim in separate places!  it was thought to be improper to see a person of the opposite sex in their bathing costume!

Hi Mum,

Off for a beach walk this morning  - it is very windy today so we have waves on the bay,


we have walked to the Yacht Club and now are heading home for lunch!

Hi Mum 

This evening we went to the house of Sue's friend just down the road from Gisborne for a sewing evening


here we are watching Tania making hexagons for a new quilt

we found this very interesting barrel and thought it might liven up the evening, but Sunshiney couldn't turn the tap   
I found these lovely little houses, just right for a TV I thought!

we found a great place to have a rest but to be honest it was very lumpy!!

we spent the rest of the evening by the fire where it was lovely and warm.

Hi Mum,

Today is voting day in Australia - it is the day the people decide who is running the government for the next three years. Voting here is compulsory - if you do not vote you get fined.

We went to the polling station at Gisborne Primary School

the green paper gets filled in 1 - 9, the white paper is HUGE and you can put one number above the line or 1 - ? under the line! I saw the Pirate Party on the form - that could be interesting!!

Hi Mum,

No flying today but I did go to the park to help walk the dog 
We went through the new Botanic Gardens here - it has lots of New Zealand plants as Gisborne used to be the sister city of Gisborne in New Zealand.


here I am by the kowhai tree it is a native of New Zealand - the yellow flowers have nectar that the honey eating birds like very much.

We are back at the beach this weekend

Hi Mum,

Today we are on our way to Ballarat, but we stopped to drive up Mount Buninyong to see what we could see from the top

at the top was a tower, so we thought we would climb up and have a look from the top (we are brave!!!) 


here I am part way up - the road you can see below is a fire break and is supposed to stop bush fires from jumping from one tree to another, but if it is a big fire it will not work

at the top now

you can see for a long way!!


here we are resting on the way down....there were 96 steps up and then 96 steps down!!!!! That is a lot of steps for my little legs!!!
Off for a rest now!!
