Versailles, France - 3rd June 2012

By: Krtecek

Today we went to Versailles a miraculous castle of Louis XIV called Sun-King. It was Sunday so we had a chance to admire the gardens with all the fountains and music. It was undescribable and I hope we were able to capture some of the atmohpere on the pictures.

Jyväskylä, Finland - 12th July 2012

By: mmm105

Hei! Hello!

We were walking outside today. We saw a nice small park. And there we saw this statue of Uno Cygnaeus (1810-1888). He is considered the father of the Finnish public school system.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-AyCymIGFfYE/T_8e2HX9L_I/AAAAAAAAOLg/kHXUvJDJeGw/s640/019.JPG

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8mE3JKYpgTc/T_8e3MMF6lI/AAAAAAAAOLo/KgH75l8WiOM/s512/020.JPG

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-b92HWqU088c/T_8e2_szweI/AAAAAAAAOLk/Qeet8i0lsTM/s512/021.JPG

And because the boy in the statue is reading, we both feel like we want to read something. So, we went to the local library building.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-BlfPeZw9_hs/T_8e0thrCII/AAAAAAAAOK8/eZxONcXyc3g/s640/016.JPG

Kurnau helped us and Lina to find a book about sheeps/lambs. There's so many books!!! :o Even more books are outside the photo.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Ig0OIvjjjQc/T_8gcpp0oZI/AAAAAAAAOTc/p-c_GWezrAw/s640/103.JPG

And yes, we found it!!!  :D

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-soOpk8ooqVM/T_8geeh3t0I/AAAAAAAAOTw/mye1eSpEbZs/s640/105.JPG

There's an art statue in the library building. This one is called "Tiedonpuu" ("A tree of knowledge"). It has made in 1980.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Lv1eXUW-EHg/T_8gk_QAy9I/AAAAAAAAOUQ/-p-wNW-PgCg/s512/113.JPG

And there's also a nice exhibition about the history of Jyväskylä-city, the dolls are showing things about this town's developement.

In 1850's Jyväskylä was a small town with many craftsmen.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-y8DSqddG2xU/T_8fJWGhRXI/AAAAAAAAOa4/AhxWrcL4d0o/s512/030.JPG

In 1860's Jyväskylä was important city in the civilization and education in Finnish language.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-hXDyFQ8XAx8/T_8fJXlQ38I/AAAAAAAAObM/v4fbWxfYGvg/s517/031.JPG

In 1870's there's an increase of forest productions (logs), and it made Finnish economy better.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-uetZmQnpMns/T_8fJhsPXbI/AAAAAAAAObU/-rJuV62H-do/s512/032.JPG

In 1890's Jyväskylä managed to avoid big destroys of fire.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1bLJBpu3ZDE/T_8fK1Znq6I/AAAAAAAAObk/7WvZY6cNoLw/s512/033.JPG

In 1900's came first railways, and it helped making connections to the World.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Y3-3rNBwUsc/T_8fK3sxB8I/AAAAAAAAObs/788BpKdTohw/s512/034.JPG

In 1910's industrialization grows and became more and more important.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-r8AcTxKoQkk/T_8fK2ato6I/AAAAAAAAOb4/iJ_TjzObMnY/s512/035.JPG

In 1920-1930's Jyväskylä became the main place in Finland to making products for defending the country.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-DyoHnHH0edo/T_8fLh_nxFI/AAAAAAAAOcQ/OvqbHLrGots/s480/036.JPG

In 1940's Jyväskylä was important supporting hometown during wars.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-jd-NoIF-gBQ/T_8fMIlnaaI/AAAAAAAAOcU/zqtsCOWK3GE/s640/037.JPG

In 1970's trafic grows fast, and it was necessary to build bigger and better streets.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-DL5v3bNRx_E/T_8fMoGK5YI/AAAAAAAAOcg/0gyE_rdOeUk/s512/038.JPG

In 1980-1990's the activities of free-time got more popularity.
(And by the way, ice hockey is very popular activity in Finland, and Jyväskylä is the current Champion in Finnish ice hockey.)

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-opZxZBd96jU/T_8fNKF-GCI/AAAAAAAAOcs/gGTFIgcsKmM/s512/040.JPG

In 2000's Jyväskylä became a bigger town, because some federations of municipalities has made (smaller cities joined together to became one bigger city).

Hello!

Today happened following:

Kurnau said that he has something to say to Mr. Honeymooner.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-HZOmA8Gglfo/UABnmcaLx3I/AAAAAAAAOdM/GGx2O96oyuk/s640/007.JPG

He whispered something to Mr. Honeymooner's ear.
Mr. Honeymooner listened very carefully.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gzQ63qgTNSw/UABnmsqNebI/AAAAAAAAOdU/36aY6yROIVg/s640/008.JPG

Kurnau and Mr. Honeymooner looked happy, and mysterious.
They had a secret. The nice one.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZrKK4Lv-qM0/UABnmiPEUmI/AAAAAAAAOdQ/zHXtormqPF0/s640/009.JPG

Then Mr. Honeymooner blinded Mrs. Honeymooner's eyes, so that she couldn't see anything.
Mrs. Honeymooners was confused, but in the same time very exited.
"What is this?", asked Mrs. Honeymooner.
"It's a secret", answered Mr. Honeymooner to her.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-w1dcQn5TMNA/UABnnt17ntI/AAAAAAAAOdw/imuO4euHYWo/s512/010.JPG

Then Mr. Honeymooner got a piece of paper...

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6_I4o6PLNBc/UABnnk75WGI/AAAAAAAAOdk/8gf0wC68wVU/s640/011.JPG

...and he started to do something wierd with it. He folded it several times.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-BqPGZk86_xU/UABnn6dyhiI/AAAAAAAAOdo/p48ZVmIzcmI/s640/012.JPG

...and little bit more.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CvNalFpYX7M/UABnx9mALOI/AAAAAAAAOes/GXfEv0dP0Nk/s640/013.JPG

"Hmmm... it might be ready now...", though Mr. Honeymooner

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mL0K-392-pY/UABnozwgQWI/AAAAAAAAOd0/GFS0GGoT0GM/s640/014.JPG

Then he opened the bindings from Mrs. Honeymooner's eyes...

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-f3qs5xKABI0/UABnpnJtD5I/AAAAAAAAOd8/rlU5q9ghc94/s640/015.JPG

...and gave the origami heart to Mrs. Honeymooner.
"This is for you, honey!" said Mr. Honeymooner to her.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-fN5kUJ1e5EA/UABnp7mQRsI/AAAAAAAAOeM/7qnR33apOeE/s640/016.JPG

"Oh, thank you! Thank you! You are so sweet! I love you!" said Mrs. Honeymooner.
"I love you, too." answered Mr. Honeymooner.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QobR70871K0/UABnyLFm0TI/AAAAAAAAOew/jSkCrw2sJfU/s516/017.JPG

They kissed...

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZNdqn1H9-Vs/UABnq1j7SRI/AAAAAAAAOfI/TeMuCy7Bvmc/s542/018.JPG

Jyväskylä, Finland - 15th July 2012

By: mmm105

Hi!

Today we saw some public art works outside. They are all so unique. :)

This one is called as "Elämän koulu - vastuu, luottamus, luovuus"
In English it might be something like "A school of life - responsibility, trust, creativity"
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_DpvPHlOHVA/UAMVHDS04JI/AAAAAAAAOiE/gq4p60Ke0-Q/s640/001.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ZxZZ2oKi3Bw/UAMVJgJa0eI/AAAAAAAAOi0/9VpCxpaX4gg/s640/010.JPG

This one is "Karhu" ("A Bear"). The artist's name is Oskari Raja-aho, and the statue has made in the year 1930.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-V9DpHnPorKc/UAMVK6zrauI/AAAAAAAAOjQ/IHNVTTKP_ug/s640/014.JPG

Look, we all are riding on the bear!  ;)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-d1AUl0I-rFc/UAMVWnJFyLI/AAAAAAAAOl0/i6seyKJLVlA/s640/038.JPG

This one is "Keinumieli-Tyhjämieli-Häkkimieli" and the artist is Juhani Petäjäniemi, and it has made in 1989.
The name is difficult to translate into English, but it might be something like "a mind of swing - a mind of emptyness - a mind of cage".
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-VCPI1KS2I64/UAMVQLuIWCI/AAAAAAAAOkQ/soWnjMmTWto/s512/023.JPG

We like this statue. It looks like there's two people flying. :)
The name of the statue is "Elinehto-ajatus-liiketoiminta" and the artist is Heikki Häiväoja, and it has made in 1979.
The translation of the statue's name is "Lifeline-idea-business".
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-N9uRyxCnvPM/UAMVR38ZxCI/AAAAAAAAOk8/MGs_SeYvBBA/s640/029.JPG

And there's a statue "Kauppias ja apulainen" ("A Merchant and his assistant). The artist is Pauli Koskinen, and it has made in 1959.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UgDuTpg8Q94/UAMVWk99SdI/AAAAAAAAOlw/WIDph_4phHc/s512/039.JPG

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-lF3ekCTUY08/UAMVZ_nLJEI/AAAAAAAAOmw/y84sh4JLR1E/s512/047.JPG

And this one has made the same artist, Pauli Koskinen, in the year 1957. It is art in the outside wall of the building. And it's name is "Reliefi"
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bY9_Ge-bt4Y/UAMVdUxy-XI/AAAAAAAAOno/fgrVm8rul_k/s640/056.JPG

After walking a little there started to be dark clouds in the sky, so we turned walking back, and we hoped to arrive 'home' before it's raining...

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1kqr-SN0c-w/UAMVdkV3aGI/AAAAAAAAOn8/vHkeJ08oE30/s640/058.JPG

...But we didn't managed. It started raining so quickly.
And the  rain, it was HARD, we got totally wet within one minute.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-sYDxKOxQmuk/UAMVg28aWqI/AAAAAAAAOos/IUJD5xSd_ew/s640/070.JPG

We run back 'home', and inside it was time to get dry again, aww... :)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-vtsIEwOY2cQ/UAMVpKiLmWI/AAAAAAAAOq4/BOMu6Z-yXP8/s512/090.JPG

What an adventure!!!

and it goes from the lake Palokkajärvi to the lake Jyväsjärvi.

Hello!

We visited in the natural park of Jyväskylä.
It's so cool forest area just next to the river Tourujoki.
It's a nature conservation area in the middle of Jyväskylä.

At first, we need to go down to the long wooden old stairs. It was exiting!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-U6bLVT0JUWg/UAl4_7hpsRI/AAAAAAAAO9I/H0OfEIL51wg/s640/065.JPG

Look, how beautiful nature there is! So fresh and green!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-z5076CP3_6Q/UAl5JgQC7oI/AAAAAAAAO-Y/Cz9G93P97zk/s640/077.JPG

...and romantic!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jdWPm7QOwHw/UAl5LAAsDhI/AAAAAAAAO-o/rZL_07e2NG4/s640/080.JPG

Can you see those weird things in the tree?
They are "kääpä" in Finnish, they are some kind of mushrooms growing in old trees.
How cool!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-V6SQxRqA2pk/UAl5QPyBoRI/AAAAAAAAO_Q/AXq48PU4D1U/s512/088.JP

It's time to have a little brake, and just relax. :)

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-kSQwRw2KrfU/UAl5WSMqcOI/AAAAAAAAO_4/YAOcUkl07qE/s640/097.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XRPm8LihZbk/UAl5VqiDnzI/AAAAAAAAO_0/PcdFVy-sPzI/s640/096.JPG

Then it's time to walk forward.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-iF3MrEaZksM/UAl5bzloGlI/AAAAAAAAPA4/Sz3rtkNETNQ/s640/102.JPG

We walk on the "pitkospuut", the wooden path on the ground.
There must be this wooden path, because the ground is so wet.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-XtJmlaSGF38/UAl5jiZx8rI/AAAAAAAAPBw/iwqp6CRxTMA/s512/111.JPG

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-V7pS1MagEho/UAl5kiGGUHI/AAAAAAAAPBk/j_TbBcXAkPk/s640/112.JPG

It was a nice place, this small natural park! :)

This is very colourful art, isn't it?

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-dnyPJZKbpNY/UAqDZ7KPa7I/AAAAAAAAPI8/H_eZWYeTj7s/s640/038.JPG

Do you think there's all the colours of the rainbow?
Well, they are different coloured coat hangers. It looks nice! :)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-X3sSW7VS9Lw/UAqDaky2gOI/AAAAAAAAPJQ/Fhj-MhEEuug/s640/039.JPG

And what do you say about this? Even more colourful!!!  B)
On the floor there's many tiny marbles there.
And in the wall there's a lot chrocheting hotpads.
All together it looks nice, right?

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Mn0t0IhirVY/UAqD0jF9gLI/AAAAAAAAPMM/UvcKF5WLJbM/s640/054.JPG

We met our cousin there! :) She told us, that she is a handmade sheep.

We visited in a place called "kirkkopuisto" (a church park).
There we saw this beautiful church just in the middle of the park
surrounded by green grass, trees and beautiful flowers.
The church has buildt in 1880, and the architecht was L. I. Linqvist.

Hello again!

We visited also in "satama" (a harbour of Jyväskylä) today.
There we saw many great boats, for example s/s SUOMI. (Suomi means Finland).
The boat were sailing on the lake (you can see it on the picture behind us) when we sit on the sign of that boat. :)
It was a nice day.

Love,
