Waddewarden, Germany - 30th May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
today Störte, Twixx and me started together with hostdad and some of his friends to a short North Sea-trip.
On the way to Waddewarden our car almost lost a rear wheel , but we TVs shouted as loud as we could so we stopped just before something worse could happen...
When we arrived Waddewarden near Wilhelmshaven we first inspected the holiday flat and the garden...and later we helped making salad for our barbecue party (unfortunately I was making a headstand just when hostdad took his picture )
And tomorrow we'll drive to Langeoog by ship
All the best,
yours Haribaer

Langeoog, Germany - 31st May 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
today we drove to Langeoog island by ship. In the harbour we chanced into a slow train that brought us into the centre of Langeoog.
We visited the 'Lale Andersen house' (Lale Andersen was the woman who sang the favourite song 'Lilly Marleen').
And of course we visited the sandy beach and of course we built up a castle
The weather was fantastic for the whole day so we had a very nice time
Love you, mummy,
yours Haribaer

Wilhelmshaven, Germany - 1st June 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
before driving back home we visited an u-boat and a warship in Wilhelmshaven. Störte the old pirate was totally out of his mind, but Twixx and me thought it was a bit boring in this dark ships...

Nieheim, Germany - 12th June 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
today Twixx and me accompanied hostmum and lots of colleagues on their annual works to Nieheim, a village that is famous for Northrhine-Westfalian specialities.
We visited a few museums: a bread-museum, a sausage-museum, a beer and schnapps-museum and a cheese-museum. We learned a lot about specialities like ham and black bread (Pumpernickel), how to make beer and schnapps, how to transport milk on a bike, how to milk a cow, how to built up fences and so on...
Of course we got the specialities to eat at last...Twixx and me had potatoe soup and cheese soup, very yummy!!!
Best wishes,
yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 17th June 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
yesterday evening hostgrandma started into the sky with a balloon and of course Haribaer and me didn't miss this event!
Unfortunately hostgrandma didn't dare to take us with her because she feared dropping us
So we only visited her flight, but that was really interesting, too.
First all the people who wanted to go with the balloon had to help making it clear for take off. And then the adventure began.
Hostmum, hostdad, Haribaer and me followed the balloon by car and after one hour they landed and hostgrandma came back from the sky. They landed a few metres next to a military zone...uff!
Hostgrandma said the flight was fantastic, perhaps I'll fly as well one day

Paderborn, Germany - 2nd July 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi Mummy,
now hostmum and hostdad have a holiday for two weeks. Unfortunately we must stay at home because of the very old dog lady Trixi, but hostmum said we'll do some day trips or half-day trips exploring the surroundings. And so we did yesterday: in the afternoon we drove to Paderborn city by bike. Through a tunnel, past a little chapel, past cornfields...then we reached Paderborn city and visited the bookshop hostmum bought Lille last year. Unfortunately the little bookshop has to close next week it was hostmum's favourite bookshop.
Then we went into hostmum's and hostdad's favourite Indian restaurant. While eating the starter Twixx and me suddenly heard somebody whispering behind us... Turning around we saw a little very colourful dragon. "I'm Olli", he said "and I followed you from the bookshop, because you looked so kind..."
So we sat together eating yummy dishes, drinking Mango Lassi and talking about life. Olli decided not to become a ToyVoyager, because somebody has to stay at home keeping an eye on mum and dad and the plushies at home he said...imagine that!
On the way back home we saw an old DDR-car, a Trabant, a rarity nowadays!
All the best, mummy,
yours Haribaer

Dear mum,
hostmum says the problem of having holiday at home is that you're doing things you have no time for while you're working. So additional to normal housework like doing the washing we helped repotting orchids, sorting out clothes and putting waste glass into a bottle bank and the clothes into the old clothes collection.
After working so hard we drove to our favourite ice-cream parlour...yummy
Best wishes, yours Haribaer

Dortmund, Germany - 3rd July 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mummy,
today morning we drove to Dortmund, hostmum's birthplace. First it was a bit rainy, but then it became a sunny day.
We visited the town centre with it's pedestrian zone, old houses, an old tram, fountains (one with a frog!), the big "U" (one of the emblems of Dortmund and the letter every child in Dortmund learns first), a rhinoceros and the market square.
And we went shopping in a vegan shop.
Of course we had some rests: one in a nice café and one in a vegan restaurant. We had vegan lasagne, yummy! And we met a nice raccoon sitting on a cake.
On the way back home we visited Lippstadt airport and saw a big plane starting and very old planes standing there. Wow!
Best wishes,
yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 4th July 2013

Hi Mummy,
today afternoon we drove to Paderborn city by bike again, now for visiting the café of hostparent's friend.
It was very comfortable and as you can see the cake was VERY GOOD!
On the way back home we stopped at a big toy shop because hostmum and hostdad wanted to buy a birthday present for a five-year-old boy. They were very happy about our advice, cause Twixx and me know for certain how to make little boys happy
Look, what we've chosen (after playing with car and big salamander):

Schlangen, Germany - 8th July 2013
By: mcdaniels
Dear Mummy,
yesterday hostmum, hostdad, Twixx and me made a bike tour to Schlangen (snakes ) via Bad Lippspringe.
In Bad Lippspringe we visited hostdad's parents and met some plushies who live on the sofa their whole life instead of travelling...but they seemed to be satisfied with this content...
In Schlangen we first visited a little lake and look the sign: don't walk on the ice...
And of course we had to stop at a playground.
Hostmum showed us lots and lots of blooming limes...what a smell!
And we learned the differences between maize, wheat and barley, the three most frequent grain in this region. One cornfield was full of cornflowers, unfortunately a rarity in Germany.
Along the cycleways ther were many different wild flowers, very nice!
Bye, mummy,
yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 9th July 2013
By: mcdaniels
Dear mummy,
today morning we welcomed Laika from Stuttgart. Seems to be a nice girl
In the afternoon we walked on the old way of pilgrims near Paderborn. You can see the route on the sign. Our way was very nice, forest and fields in the sunshine.
We took a rest in an organic café. We had yummy cake, coffee and tea.
On the way back we saw a sign with a cow on it but unfortunately there were no cows, not after 75 metres and not at all.
Another sign was in the shape of a horse that pointed to witch-hill but on the hill we didn't meet any witch. Perhaps it wasn't dark enough...
Love you, mummy, as you can see
yours Haribaer

Bad Lippspringe, Germany - 10th July 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mum,
today afternoon we made a bike tour to Bad Lippspringe again. In Bad Lippspringe five rivers rise as you can see on the sign. The river you can see on the photo is the river Jordan. But the town isn't only full of rivers but also full of flowers!
Of course Twixx and me wanted to show Laika our favourite ice-cream parlour
On the way back home we saw some sculptures of old people in front of an old people's home, very nice!
See you, yours Haribaer

Paderborn, Germany - 22nd July 2013
By: mcdaniels
Hi mum,
yesterday hostmum asked us whether we could help her cooking jam. Of course we wanted!
First we picked lots of redcurrants, then we had to wash them and to clean some of them up from stalks (a very Long-winded activity ) because hostmum wanted to bake a cake with currants before making jam.
I supervised Laika and Twixx rolling out the dough, then we covered it with redcurrants. At last meringue to the top...yummy!
Then we started making jam. We DIDN'T have to pick the currants up from stalks because hostmum has got a brilliant old mincer from her grandma: you can fill in the redcurrants WITH their stalks, then you only have to turn the crank...on one side the stalks and pips appear and on the other side the pulp. So we did, wow!
After that we cooked the pulp together with bananas, gelling agent, sugar and some liqueur and filled the jam into glasses...ready!
Best wishes
yours Haribaer

Hi Mummy,
yesterday we said goodbye to Störte, hostdad's pirate who started to Austria. Have a good journey and hope to see you again!
And today we welcomed Mr. Moose from Finland. He brought some gifts with him so we sat together, talking about TV-life and eating yummy liquorice
In a few minutes we'll eat cake in the garden and in the evening we want to go to a restaurant, cause today it's hostdad's birthday.
Yours Haribaer
