We've arrived in Colorado and there was still a little snow left so we went sledding with the other TVs we met. Eireannach is soon going to be going to Argentina. I think we will have fun here, wourpet said there are lots of McDonalds around.

It snowed really lots over night so we spent the day in the house but we had to work hard. We packed 30 boxes of snack foods and valentines to send to the US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It was cool playing on the piles of boxes when we were done.

Clifton, CO, USA - 10th February 2008
By: wourpet
We drove out to Clifton which isn't very far from our hosts house but we had to stay buckled up. I saw this sign and thought it was probably a good thing. What a strange road.
When our host turned left we knew why she wanted us safely buckled up.

When we were in Clifton the other day we could see Mt Garfield and it is the same mountain we can see from our hosts house in Grand Junction. Today we got to go and have a closer look.

Palisades, CO, USA - 12th February 2008
By: wourpet
Because we were on the I-70 when we stopped to take pictures at Mt Garfield we had to drive all the way to Palisades to turn around. The I-70 is a long highway called an Interstate that goes across the US. I-70 is the first one started and is also the most difficult because it goes through the Rocky Mountains. It stretches all the way from Utah to Maryland.
As we drove past Mt Garfield we could see Grand Mesa on our right. Grand Mesa is the largest flat top mountain in the world. It has over 300 lakes on top of it.
Wourpet said Palisades is famous for its peaches.
On the drive back from Palisades to Grand Junction we could see Mt Garfield and the Bookcliffs from the other direction.

Today we went to the art center with our host. She often goes down to the studio to make things of clay. Since it is our last time here she invited us along if we promised to not get too messy in the mud.
When she taught us about wedging and let us try ourselves it was pretty hard not to get messy.
Then we got a very big surprise. There was a bit of a disruption in the studio when Flat Phil came in. He introduced himself and said he was traveling about the country and having his picture taken at various places. Was he ever surprised to meet us and learn we were visiting here from New York. We posed together for pictures for all of us.

At the end of the afternoon at the studio wourpet sent us for a shower. Because it was still a little cool outside she told us we could hop into the kiln and dry off.
We were a little uncertain at first but she said it was just 'soaking'.
We climbed in with the pots and had a 'soak' in the 89 degree F heat for awhile before we got out.

Grand Junction, Colorado, USA - 29th February 2008

Today is our last day in Colorado. We are going to Miami Florida to visit Clarissa.
Wourpet drove us to the mail center and let us stop above the traffic circle so we could have a last view of the area where we have been for the past few weeks.
Its very pretty here in the Grand Valley with the mountains all around. Its called the Grand Valley because the Colorado river runs through here -- and the Colorado River used to be called the Grand River. To the South East is the Grand Mesa that we saw on one of our drives.
And then we went to the mail center where we caught our ride to Miami.

Our host picked us up from the post office today! She just got back from a trip to Gainesville, Florida! We're sorry we missed it, but our host assured us that there's lots to see here in Miami.
