Hola!

Today Spain won the football Euro Cup. My host is really not into football so you won't hear a big deal about it from me either. But we did take a photo outside her work with a Spanish flag decorating someone balcony upstairs, obviously to support the Spanish team. It must have worked



We went to a shop called Iceland today in Los Cristianos so we got some photos of Los Cristianos. We finally saw the sea too!

Hola!

Today we travelled to Puerto de la Cruz and stayed in a hotel called La Perla. The hotel is ok but not one of the best hotels so I wouldn't recommend it eventhough it was cheap and all inclusive. We had a small walk near the hotel and took some photos while we were out. We mainly just spent time in the hotel as it was all inclusive. Ok, finally photos here, I'm sorry it has taken such a while. There were so many photos to choose from (you can see all of them here)

And this is a dragon tree. A very charasteristic tree for Tenerife.


I'll write you about us visiting mount Teide as well but that will have to be tomorrow. Sorry about all the delay, my host has been busy trying to sell their apartment.

Hello!

Finally I've had a chance to tell you about our trip to Teide. We went there from Puerto de la Cruz where it was raining but when we got on Teide, there were no clouds about because we had gone through them. Teide National Park is one of the UNESCO world heritages and the vulcano, Teide, is 3718m high. We didn't go all the way to the peak because first you have to take a cable car and then you'd have to have a permission from the National Park council to climb up to the peak. Even my hosts haven't done that. They've gone up on the cable car that takes you to 3555m. The cable car leaves from 2356m so that's about the height where we were. We took loads of pictures but I won't put all of them here because that'd make this update really long. But you can see them all on the site I gave you in my last update.

I was told that the Planet of the Monkeys and some Star Wars films were filmed here because it's very moonlike here. They covered the road with sand and chose places where there weren't that many bushes.

Hi!

Today we've finally been on the beach! It was really warm and the sand was nice and hot too. I think I even got a bit of a tan

Today my host's collegue got married and we were all invited to the wedding. The wedding ceremony was at San Miguel town hall but the wedding party was at a restaurant called Mirador de la Centinela. Mirador is a view point and the view was absolutely great.

Also Katja's newest ToyVoyager Sportie came along. SuperGrover has started his voyage over to Norway a few days ago.

Unfortunately you can't appreciate the view as much on photos..

After the wedding we went out for a drink to a bar in Puerto Colon

We decided to go for a picnic today. We start driving about 2 o'clock in the afternoon and first drove towards Guia de Isora.



We couldn't find anywhere we liked in there so we headed towards Santiago del Teide. All the picnic tables were taken there.


Then we drove towards Icod and decided to turn back as it started getting cloudy. Then we thought about going to where there's a light house. The light house of Teno. We had to go there through the winding roads of Masca.

Here are some photos of the Masca valley. Unfortunately they aren't very good because you couldn't really stop anywhere to take photos and it was really difficult to take them because the car's turning all the time.




On our way to the light house we had to cross "forbidden" road. You could cross it but only under your own responsability. Then we finally arrived to Teno.

It was really pretty up there. The water was crystal clear.

There were lots of people sunbathing and swimming.


We had our picnic and also did some sunbathing for a bit.

Then in the evening to finish off the very relaxing day, we had a bath in candle light and also went to sauna.

We've been to Puerto de la Cruz for the weekend. I'm going to write the whole weekend's happenings on this one update so "when" should really be August 15-17, 2008.

We were staying in a really nice hotel called Monopol. There were loads of flowers and plants in the hotel and there was this flower woman who was replacing the droopy flowers every morning.

Today we've been for a long walk, about 10km. Katja asked her boyfriend to go to work in her car because she had to go to the post office and if she had had the car, we would have not walked there.

I'm now on my way back to my mentor Can't wait to see her again!
