Chemnitz, Germany - 23rd July 2012
By: Jennifer1990
Dear Dad!
Today I arrived safely in Chemnitz. This time I wasn't lost.
Fortunately, I could talk with Icey during our long travel and in the end I could leave the envelope.
I brought my host mum a nice recipe and she really likes it. We will try it this week.
Afterwards I was greeted by the toys who live with Jennifer. They are really friendly and we told our story to each other.

Hello Dad!
Today I enjoyed a nice day with my host mum. While she was at university, I had a look around. I discovered a beautiful cactus with a nice flower. In the afternoon we enjoyed a nice piece of strawberry cake. Yummy!
Finally in the evening, I helped cooking a pasta sauce with courgettes. It was really yummy! Afterwards I played a little game of Ludo on the Internet. I became second ! Now it is late and I will go to bed. Tomorrow we will visit the city and do some shopping.

Dear Dad!
Today I visited the city centre of Chemnitz. I saw the Gothic church and the Karl Marx Monument. It is the tallest statue of a head in the whole world. I also enjoyed sitting in all those beautiful flowers.

Hi Dad!
Today my host mum and I made the pancake recipe I've brought with me. I was allowed to help. I added the flour, eggs, milk, and I stirred everything. Host mum put the pancakes in the pan because it was too dangerous for me. We really made a huge pile!
In the end I cut the ham, put it on the pancakes and sprinkled some cheese on top. We enjoyed a really nice meal after melting the cheese in the microwave. YUMMY!
Tomorrow we will travel to the hometown of my host mum. I can't wait to see the nature.
Good night, Dad!

Sehmatal-Neudorf, Germany - 27th July 2012
By: Jennifer1990
Dear Dad,
today I and my host mum went to her hometown. We went by train and I sat on some old rail tracks.
The village is called Neudorf and is situated between hills and meadows. I took a photo of the village's coat of arms. It shows a white lamb with a flag on a hill.
In the afternoon we went in the woods and collected some mushrooms. We ate them in the evening; they were really nice and yummy.

Sehmatal-Neudorf, Germany - 28th July 2012
By: Jennifer1990
Hi Dad,
I started my day with a little ride.
Afterwards I explored the garden of my host mum's family. I saw a nice yellow flower, the courgette plant and I tasted some delicious raspberries. And I smelled those nice purple flowers.
In the evening the cat returned from a long day outside. He was really tired and I stroked him a little.
Yours Bärnd

Hello Dad!
I rode on a unicorn!!! Look!!! Unfortunately it was only a wooden one.
In the afternoon we had a little walk in the nature. I took some photos of the landscape. It shows the village of Neudorf and the Fichtelberg (1214m), which is the highest populated mountain in Germany. And I saw real cows! But they were really tired and didn't come any closer.
I also saw a mountain ash, a very traditional tree in the area. There is even a song about it.
After this long walk I enjoyed some red currants. YUMMY!

Dear Dad!
Today me and my host mum bought a souvenir for me. It is a little wooden pan and incense cones. Her home town Neudorf is really famous for those incense cones. They are a typical Christmas item in this area.
You have to light them at the top, put them on the little pan and enjoy the smell!
I can't wait to test them with you!

Hello Dad!
We arrived safely at home in Chemnitz.
There were a lot of postcards in the mailbox: one from Malaysia, one from Belarus, one from Taiwan and, my favorite one, from the US.
I enjoyed looking at them and I hope some more will arrive soon.
Yours Bärnd

Hi Dad!
We bought some mushrooms today and made a delicious soup!
I added water and wine to it, and in the end I put some Creme Fraìche in. I was allowed to stir and season it. The pepper made me sneeze!
It was a really yummy soup and I hope we will do some more cooking soon!
All the best,
Bärnd

Dear Dad!
Today we cooked another delicious meal for us. Firstly, we made a marinade for the steaks. I added garlic, oil, herbs and honey. Then I put it on the meat and we left it for some hours to marinade. In the evening we put the steaks into the oven. In the meanwhile we prepared corn and peas. Finally, we took the steaks out of the oven and had a yummy meal!
