Lichtensteig, Switzerland - 10th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Yesterday I arrived in Switzerland. I felt push and pull on my envelope.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/253/toyvoyagers002.jpg

and then it was suddenly bright. I saw furry noses, a beak and many curious eyes.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/196/toyvoyagers003.jpg

A little shy, I climbed out of my envelope.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/94/toyvoyagers004.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/717/toyvoyagers005.jpg

The welcome was very warm.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/835/toyvoyagers006.jpg

Even the big cat has welcomed me.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/411/toyvoyagers010.jpg

We introduced ourselves and I told them that I am from Vietnam.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/546/toyvoyagers008s.jpg

Because nobody knew where Vietnam is, host mum has shown it on the computer.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/209/toyvoyagers011.jpg

Everyone was very impressed by my long journey.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/39/toyvoyagers013.jpg

Mum, I have made many new friends, I think I like it here.
many greetings home
Meomie

Lake Thun, Switzerland - 12th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Yesterday we visited host mum's daughter. She is head chef at a hotel on Lake Thun. On our way there we made a short stop at the base of the Pilatus Railway, the steepest cogwheel railway in the world.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/854/toyvoyagers007.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/820/toyvoyagers008.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/844/toyvoyagers014.jpg

Pilatus is good 2000 meters high and the local mountain of Lucerne. We passed on Lungerensee.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/145/toyvoyagers019.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/542/toyvoyagers032.jpg

This lake is very popular with fishermen. Pike, lake trout and whitefish are some of the fish here

From an elevated vantage point we had a fantastic view of the lake and surrounding mountains.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/820/toyvoyagers040.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/7/toyvoyagers043.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/824/toyvoyagers044.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/820/toyvoyagers046.jpg

We passed the Brünigpass who disappeared in the fog. The weather was weird anyway. One minute blue skies and sunshine, the next moment a thick fog.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/685/toyvoyagers054.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/9/toyvoyagers055.jpg

We drove on and came to Interlaken, a popular tourist destination. The most famous hotel, the Grand Hotel Victoria - Jungfrau.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/198/toyvoyagers057.jpg

This under monument protection hotel began as a Guesthouse Victoria. A few years later the neighboring Hotel Jungfrau was bought. Both houses were then connected with a central part.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/845/toyvoyagers067.jpg

In good weather, you have a great view of the Jungfrau massif with the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. We saw only fog. On partial adventurous roads

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/29/toyvoyagers076.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/715/toyvoyagers077m.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/37/toyvoyagers079.jpg

we reached the Lake of Thun. Here the weather meant something better with us.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/222/toyvoyagers070.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/21/toyvoyagers082.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/90/toyvoyagers091.jpg

We hung around in the garden of the hotel

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/21/toyvoyagers105.jpg

and had a good view of the lake and the mountains.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/507/toyvoyagers095.jpg

On the way home we had to drive the long way because on the highway, an accident happened. But without this detour we would have missed this evening atmosphere.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/38/toyvoyagers107.jpg

Hugs and Kisses
Meomie

host mum's home, Switzerland - 12th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum
it's me again. A new TV has arrived.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/259/toyvoyagers002r.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/221/toyvoyagers003.jpg

A little rat named Twix.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/339/toyvoyagers016.jpg

He was still a bit sleepy when we took him this morning from its cover. We welcomed him kindly

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/233/toyvoyagers014.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/854/toyvoyagers009.jpg

and gave him a group hug.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/854/toyvoyagers009.jpg

As the big cat greeted him, he got the shock of his life.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/191/toyvoyagers010.jpg

But he has recovered. I think we will have lots of fun with him.

Bye
Meomie

By: Jasper

Hello mum,
on Friday have been something special for dinner. Cheese Fondue!

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/96/toyvoyagers028.jpg

With long forks we were allowed to stir in the hot cheese.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/13/toyvoyagers038.jpg

It was fun and tasted very, very good.

Best regards, Meomie

Klosters-Davos, Switzerland - 14th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Yesterday we made a trip to Klosters and Davos. The weather was cloudy and cold. We needed something to warm up. Thick skin and hot coffee was the right thing.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/821/pa130010.jpg

Klosters is a small village

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/528/pa130011.jpg

with hotels, hotels, hotels. Some pretty, some not.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/35/pa130012.jpg

Then we drove on to Davos, the highest town in Europe. Host mum finds Davos ugly. Too many ugly buildings in this wonderful scene. This is the main street of Davos.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/834/pa130045t.jpg

Here you see the convention center.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/26/pa130037f.jpg

It annually hosts the World Economic Forum. This is the ice hockey stadium.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/202/pa130035.jpg

Every year between Christmas and New Year, the Spengler Cup is played.

Here we pose in front of the Hilton hotel.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/405/pa130044.jpg

The most beautiful thing we saw in Davos was this small lake.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/837/pa130027m.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/543/toyvoyagers002.jpg

Because we all wanted to see the snow, host dad drove to the Flüela Pass.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/547/pa130053.jpg

You can see how high it is?

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/839/toyvoyagers014.jpg

The snow was very close, but it melts during the day.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/39/pa130061.jpg

It's still a bit too warm.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/59/pa130058.jpg

Whoa, too warm. It was 3 degrees.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/839/pa130059.jpg

The pass looks like a moonscape.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/713/pa130069.jpg

Only stones and boulders fields.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/801/pa130080.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/402/pa130083.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/197/pa130084.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/547/pa130089.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/692/pa130094.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/84/pa130099.jpg

Slightly lower down, we saw the most beautiful larch forests.

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/440/toyvoyagers015.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/694/toyvoyagers016.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/211/pa130105.jpg

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/72/pa130113j.jpg

Golden Autumn. This newly built bridge

http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/585/pa130121.jpg

took us back home.

Hope you are well, miss you.

Meomie

Sorry for so much fingers, host mum has a new camera, she is learning.

Quinten, Switzerland - 19th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hello mum,
Today we were in Quinten,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180293_zps6a0dd47d.jpg

a small village on the northern shore of Walensee. This really small village (about 60 people) can only be reached by boat or on foot.
We took the boat.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180188_zps9d52902d.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180195_zpsd1e0f61d.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180206_zpsad885a53.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180208_zps12456f1f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180214_zpsbce03ff3.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180222_zps04786b05.jpg

Due to its special location Quinten has an almost Mediterranean climate.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180230_zps34b256ca.jpg

Besides wine

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180240_zpsd49a7416.jpg

there grow palms

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180245_zpscb39528a.jpg

and figs.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180242_zps66b11741.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180244_zps8391d95b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180250_zps1035d1e5.jpg

The Foehn wind blew very strong, almost 70 kilometers per hour.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180254_zpseef3b6a4.jpg

By the wind, it was very warm. Was it yesterday 10 degrees in the afternoon, we had 26 today.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180263_zpsc5a7dc18.jpg

The distant view was wonderful.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA180282_zps5737cb17.jpg

We have enjoyed this afternoon.

Schwägalp, Switzerland - 21st October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
Yesterday we drove to Schwägalp.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200294_zps2ab5387a.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200297_zps339ae961.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200298_zpsa415bad4.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200299_zps7d2c2efc.jpg

This pass is 1300 meters high and is located at the foot of the Säntis. First we admired a old coach.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200300_zpsecec139b.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200301_zps7921e182.jpg

A special trip for great TV's.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200302_zps6dabe633.jpg

How funny. At 2,502.9 meters above sea level, Säntis is the tallest mountain in the Alpstein massif of northeastern Switzerland. The mountain is a highly visible landmark thanks to its exposed northerly location within the Alpstein massif.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200307_zps9084b67f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200311_zpsfc5b1416.jpg

The panorama from the summit is spectacular. Six countries can be seen if the weather allows: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, France, and Italy. By a cable car you can reach the top.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200321_zps1c427027.jpg

The so-called Säntismord (English: Säntismurder) happened in the winter of 1922. It refers to a crime in which the weather station keeper and his wife were murdered. The murder was only discovered because of missing weather reports on February 21. As a result of the missing reports, a search party was sent to Säntis, where they discovered the bodies. The prime suspect was shoemaker Gregor Anton Kreuzpointer, who committed suicide three weeks after the murder. The truth about this double murder hence remains unclear to this day. So creepy. As we sat on the rocks came a jackdaw and wanted to get Twix. Host dad could still save him.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200322_zps25e96ad8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200323_zps2d227fe7.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200328_zps94d2e6d6.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200331_zps7455a2be.jpg

Schwägalp is also very popular with motorcyclists. As you can see here.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200336_zps396a1f98.jpg

On our way home

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200343_zps64b5834b.jpg

we discovered an old stagecoach.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200347_zps5547322a.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200348_zps4b277437.jpg

For special occasions, it runs today.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200349_zps8b166f14.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200350_zps77569292.jpg

It is pulled by 4 horses. A hot air balloon, we have also seen.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA200352_zps603bc7ea.jpg

It was a wonderful day.

Vaduz, Lichtenstein - 24th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hello all at home,

Our last trip was to the Principality of Lichtenstein.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130126_zps0527acd8.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130127_zpsa276348f.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130128_zps0d00c250.jpg

In Vaduz, the capital, we saw the town hall. It was built in 1932/33. The castle was built in the 13th Century and serves as the residence of the royal family.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130141_zpsae7575c4.jpg

Therefore it can not be visited. We saw a miniature of the castle.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130146_zpsfb2fab94.jpg

The Principality is also very famous for its stamps. In the pedestrian zone known examples are shown for road paving. Here you see the special stamp in honor of the wedding of the crown prince.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130147_zpsbb2da9a9.jpg

Lichtenstein is also known for its banks. Here is the National Bank.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130149_zpsc9ee820b.jpg

This building is home to the parliament.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130159_zps25ae7f44.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130162_zpsed2d4d2d.jpg

On our way home we had a great view over the Rhine Valley.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA130168_zps80eb50b2.jpg

Best regards

Lichtensteig, Switzerland - 28th October 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,
when we woke up this morning host mum said we should look out the window.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280365.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280367.jpg

Snow! Over night snow had fallen and it still snows. We immediately put on our warm clothes and went out onto the balcony.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280371.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280374.jpg

What a beauty. I have never seen snow. I was almost mad with joy.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280380.jpg

After we  played a few times in the snow,

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280381.jpg

our host mum called back to the apartment. They pulled us out of the wet clothes and grabbed us in a warm blanket.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280383.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PA280384.jpg

Was that a fun.

A big hug for you

Lichtensteig, Switzerland - 2nd November 2012

By: Jasper

Hi mum,

Today we said goodbye to Sausi Karl and Yuma. Sausi Karl travels to Vienna to Carolin's mum and Yuma travels to Lichtenfels in Franconia. As a farewell host mum has baked cookies. We have all eaten immediately.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB020470.jpg

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u614/Hemming60/PB020472.jpg

Yummy. Then we hugged Sausi Karl and Yuma and wished a safe journey.
