Hi Mum,

Today we went to work at the school library with Sue but it was a very busy day so only got one photo

Earlier this year the Melbourne Zoo celebrated 150 years of caring for elephants and 50 schools in Victoria got to decorate an elephant. They were on display at the Zoo for a while , then came back to the school.

Today it was sunny then a huge black cloud came over and it hailed, by the time we got outside some had melted but you can still see a few

Today we said goodbye to Elmar, Mr Shaun and Suomi-boy - they are off to continue their travels.

Hi Mum,

Today we drove across the city to visit family and on the way got some photos as we were passing the centre of Melbourne

off down the Tullamarine Freeway

you can see a big wheel thing....that has been years in the building, it was nearly finished and then the metal was found to be stressed so it had to be pulled apart and built again!


here I go over the Bolte Bridge

now we have curved around to the left and coming along the southern side of the city

and now through the tunnel to get to the freeway to take us further to the south.

Hey Mum,

Today I can show you where we drove to yesterday - we are over the road from the Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenong Ranges

look at the size of these trees Mum!!

there is a nice pond for swimming - complete with fish!!  Although it is a bit cold today!

Hey Mum,

We are omn our way tot he beach today and have stopped to look at the bollards



They tell the history of the Geelong area and there are over 100 of them - they are made from reclaimed timber pier pylons!


Hee Hee cheeky life saver!!


years ago swimming used to be segregated - men in one area women in another!


here is a family group having a day out at the beach. 

waling back we saw a banjo shark in the water, but the photo didn't come out very well.

we sat out in the sun in the morning

then went down the beach...was lovely just watching the world go by

Hi Mum,

This evening we are at sewing group with Sue's friends just up the road from Gisborne

here we are watching Tania making hexagons for her new quilt

we found an interesting barrel but Sunshiney couldn't get the tap to turn!

the others thought they had found a good resting spot but it looked uncomfortable to me!! 

we kept warm sitting by the fire.

Hi Mum,

Today is election day. Voting for the Federal Government here is compulsory - if you do not vote you get a fine! So off to the polling place we go, today it was at the Gisborne Primary School

not too much advertising at the gate

and here is the paper work...green form filled out 1 - 9 the white form if HUGE...you can put in one number for the party you choose on the top row or number from 1 - ? on the bottom section!

Hi Mum,

Today we took the dog for a walk in the park,, we went through the Botanic Gardens,which are very new and have lots of New Zealand plants, as Gisborne used to be the sister city of Gisborne in New Zealand.

some of the wattle is still in flower


this is the kowhai tree - a native from New Zealand that has these yellow flowers in the spring, they have bird attracting nectar in them.

Today we are back at the beach, we found these nice flowers in the grass

and had a look at the bay
