Vienna, Austria - 23rd February 2013

Dear family,
There is so much snow in Vienna since Thursday that I wanted to explore, and finally today it happened and we put on really warm clothes, and went outside to have some fun in the snow. We first went for a walk, where we saw a beautiful tree, a lovely looking bench, and even a cave- I really felt at home when we explored it We also climbed a really huge tree that was full of snow- you should have seen me
Then I became curious if we would be able to built a snowman with this kind of snow. So we went to work. I figured that I should built the first ball, as it is the biggest, Drescher the second one, and Susy the smallest one as she is so tiny It all worked out pretty well, even though we thought that we were finished first before we had even given the snowman arms, a face, and clothes. But after we did this it looked pretty cool
When we were back home, I got curious what it would be like to warm up in bed, all cosy, and eat my lunch from Mac Donalds. Hostmum told me I was allowed to do so, so I tried it- it turns out that eating in bed is simply fabulous
Love, Mr. Curious

Vienna, Austria - 29th March 2013

Hello there!
Yesterday it was Gründonnerstag(green thursday) in Vienna, and therefore, it was time to paint easter eggs. Host mum told me that it is tradition in Austria to colour all eggs only on Green Thursday!
Of course I got very curious, why this is the case: I was explained that in the middle ages people had to pay certain taxes on green thursday. They did not have to pay with money, but with eggs - and the painting of the eggs has remained from those times.
Well, before we started with the eggs, we spoke to the one and only easterbunny himself, to get some tips. He told us, that we should start by hard boiling some of the eggs, and "blow out" a few others.
And that was exactly what we did, we unpacked the eggs- sooooo many - 30!!!! and started hard boiling them. Unfortunately one of them broke
Then, because we had some time left, we started decorating ourselves - Easter Style
But we didn't have too much spare time, before we already had to prepare the color for the eggs, so we read through the instruction, and poured the color into some hot water, and put all the eggs we had hard boiled before in there. (That was quite a lot of work, but I was already so curious what the eggs what look like once we would be finished that i loved to do this work.
after a few more minutes, the eggs were red -and we were allowed to decorate them a bit more with the help of some stickers. I really loved what they looked like in the end.

Of course this wasn't the end of it- as I have told you, we also wanted to some "blown out" eggs- to produce them, we had to push a spear through the eggs, and then blow very hard into the eggs.
It really looks quite funny, watching people blowing into the eggs.
But you have to do it in order to get an egg which you can use to decorate the easterly pussy willow. (I'm already curious what it will look like, when we've decorated it
We also painted the egg, we had blown out before- but I decided against showing you the finished egg just now, as I want you to be curious about it too - I will show you, once we put it on the pussy willow

Happy Easter everyone!!!!
Today we celebrated Easter.
We had to drive to another place to celebrate- and as it had snowed a lot the night before, we first had to get rid of all the snow on the car- before I could start driving- well, to be more exact, I was steering the wheel, and Drescher did the rest
Basically, celebrating Easter in Austria means to eat lots of stuff- and that was basically why I liked it so much- everything was sooooo yummy I also talked to the host mum's niece about this holiday, and she also confided in me that she really liked Easter (she has not told anybody else yet )
I also talked to some Easter bunnies, and even to a chicken, about Easter- because, you see, chicken have to do a lot of work too to make Easter happen
I even got my own Easter basket, which I haven't finished eating yet- but soon....

Schönbrunn, Austria - 1st April 2013
By: Mausbären
Hello!
Today we went for a walk in the Gardens surrounding Schönbrunn Palace, and I have to say it was a very interesting walk.
Of course I have already been curious about the Gardens since I arrived in Vienna, because they are so popular, and full of statues and fountains and stuff which is packed with symbolism. So I was very excited to finally go there.
The first sight I got curious about was the obelisk fountain. Host mum explained to me that it had been renovated for nearly her entire childhood and teenage years, to look as fabulous as it does now. The obelisk fountain isn't like most things in the parc made in a Roman style, but in reflects Egypitan mythology. So the obelisk which is really high stands for a stable government, which was of course very important to monarchs.
The next building we passed, was the Roman Ruin. I got very curious about the two figures sitting in the middle of this good looking garden feature. I was explained that they are the godesses of the Danube river and the river Enns, which are both very important to Austria.
We also passed the Neptune fountain. Neptune was often used as a symbol for monarchs contolling their nation's destiny. Right behind the Neputne fountain, there is the Gloriette, which nowadays basically functions as viewing point. But back in the times of the Emperor it was the place where kings and the Emperor himself had their breakfast.
Opposite the fountain is Schönbrunn Palace- which was originally meant to be pink Well, I like it much better this way.

The weekend after Easter we went for a weekend trip to a spa. I really wanted to kow what a spa is, but host mum wouldn't explain it to me, but told me to wait and see it myself.
It turned out that a spa is a hotel in which you can go swimming, and have beauty treatments, and many baths.
The spa we stayed in was built in an Asian style, and really looked beautifully. We also had to celebrate the arrival of a new toyvoyager called Cilly. To celebrate we had a glass of wine
We soon decided that we wanted to go swimming a lot, and have as many baths as possible.
It really was a fabulous weekend, and I enjoyed it very very much

By: Mausbären
Hello!
Today we did something very special- and i had been very curious about what we were doing, because hostmum at first wouldn't tell us...
She would only give us clues....
First we drove to Wr. Neustadt- that was the first clue...
Then we had to look in a map for the way from Wr. Neustadt to Niederöblarn, a nice town in styria.
Then we went into another room....
Did you guess already what we were doing??

Well, if you guessed that we were going to fly- you guessed right
The room, that we went in was a room full of aeroplanes- and one of them was ours for the day. I couldn't blieve it
It was going to be soooooooo cool
We were allowed to climb around the aeroplane in order to get a good look at it, and after a short time, we were told that we have to get inside, to go to the fuel station- and then we would of course be going to niederöblarn.

The next thing we did was to read the pilot the take-off checklist- this is essential to make sure that the plane works the way it should...so after reading this list...- we took off the ground
