Delft, Netherlands - 5th May 2017

By: Emjay

Good news, folks! I'm on the road again! By the time you read this, me and my best friend Dille are on our way to Germany to meet RikeH. I stayed with her before. She's a lovely host.
And now she will take us on a beautiful trip to... Niagara Falls! How about that?
But first we said goodbye to our TV-friend Indigo and Dille's big sister and cousin Abby.

Sülfeld, Germany - 13th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

I visit Dicker Kumpel again! We didn't see us for 4 years, but of course we were in contact over the years. This time I come with Dille.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009/2017/Mai-0026.jpg

Dicker Kumpel introduced us to Kleine Fee, Stoker and Sansone. It is great to be here again!

Bornholm, Denmark - 21st May 2017

By: RikeH

Hallo Mum,

I am on the Bornholm Island. Today I went onto the beach near to our holiday house.  The crossing looks good.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0004.jpg

And the beach was beautiful!

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0005.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0006.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0007.jpg

Surely I will come back and walk along the Baltic Sea.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0017.jpg

But today we wanted to go to Dueodde and see the lighthouse there.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0022.jpg

Next to it I climbed onto a dune and had a great view.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0031.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0032.jpg

Then we walked to the beach – it looked similar to the first one.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0033.jpg

Far behind me you can see the lighthouse.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0037.jpg

I saw the sunlight on the water.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0038.jpg

We liked it here.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0045.jpg

Then we arrived at an exciting place.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0052.jpg

Maybe you cannot see it on the sign. Then 55th Northern latitude and the 15th Eastern longitude meet here.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0049.jpg

At the end we found a beautiful water mill – without water today.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0057.jpg

Bornholm Middelaldercenter , Denmark - 23rd May 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

Today we travelled back in the medieval times. This was the house of the guilds.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0152.jpg

The craftsmen met here in the Past.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0153.jpg

But we found a nice cradle for us.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0154.jpg

Next to it was the smithy.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0155.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0158.jpg

We arrived at the best part of the village – I saw a big palisade.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0161.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0164.jpg

This was the kitchen.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0167.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0172.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0173.jpg

Then I went to the wonderful manor on the left side of the photo.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0176.jpg

The paintings were interesting – and colorful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0180.jpg

I loved the bedroom.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0182.jpg

Can you see the Tower behind me?

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0185.jpg

We climbed up and had a nice view.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0186.jpg

On the meadow we found a rune stone.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0187.jpg

They had water mills in that time.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0190.jpg

I really loved it here.

Østerlars, Denmark - 23rd May 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

This is the round church in Østerlars.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0195.jpg

It is famous for its fresco paintings.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0196.jpg

This was the font – it is as old as the church.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0199.jpg

The altar.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0202.jpg

A beautiful church.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0206.jpg

You won't guess, what you see behind me.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0211.jpg

It was the famous water tower of Snaneke. It was designed by the famous Danish architect Jörn Utzon – he built the opera of Sydney.

But of course there was a mill here – a wooden one this time.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0212.jpg

This mill had a good size.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0215.jpg

But the original next to it was beautiful, too. And the wings were in motion!

Holiday Home, Denmark - 26th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

It was time to show our holiday home. It was big enough for all of us here.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0384.jpg

A great living-room…

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0370.jpg

…and a nice kitchen.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0371.jpg

Do you know what this is? It was the start of a wasps' nest

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0379.jpg

These were our favourite places – we could sit here and watch TV, or turn around and look into the beautiful garden.

Paradisbakkerne, Denmark - 27th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum,

Today we want to see a big balanced rock. There are some of it on Bornholm, but we wanted to go to  the most famous one.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0440.jpg

The way was nice, but long.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0443.jpg

There is the Rokkestenen. This big boulder is under nature protection since 1894.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0446.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0449.jpg

I took a photo with people on it, because you can see how big the boulder is. I wasn't strong enough to let it move.

Balka, Denmark - 27th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hi Mum,

Our next stop was Balka. It has a long beach.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0455.jpg

I visited the small harbor.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0458.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0461.jpg

Then I went to the beach. We had to balance over this water.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0464.jpg

Some people lie in the sun or went into the water.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0467.jpg

It was a nice place.

Snogebæk, Denmark - 27th May 2017

By: RikeH

Hello Mum,

Snogebæk had a pier to the harbor, but it was only 100 meters long.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0473.jpg3

This view was beautiful.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0477.jpg

But I liked these small houses.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0480.jpg

This was funny.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0482.jpg

Ugh, a factory for cod liver.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0483.jpg

This house was so funny – its roof was a boat.

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0486.jpg

https://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/RikeH_2009//2017/Bornh-0491.jpg
