Coral Gables, Florida, USA - 22nd June 2008

By: carlissa

Finally, I get to do some ghost hunting!  JamaBanaDukLuv and I went to see the Biltmore Hotel and took a tour of the hotel.  The tour wasn't very much - we only saw the lobby, the courtyard, the pool, and the 2 ballrooms, but what we saw was very beautiful.  The tour lady did tell us that Fats Walsh, a gangster in the 1920's, had been shot in the casino on the 13th floor.  The casino is no longer there and the 13th floor is being renovated, so we couldn't see it.  Although the tour lady said she's never seen the ghost, there have been other people who have seen Fats Walsh's ghost and that he is very polite and will open the door for you!  We looked around the hotel on our own to see if we could find any ghosts, but they must have been scared away by all the rain.

Miami, Florida, USA - 4th July 2008

By: carlissa

Today is Independence Day in the United States!  Our host told us that there would be a fireworks show tonight and she had gotten us some sparklers!

After the sparklers, it started to rain, so we had to go inside.  We were able to see some of the fireworks show from the window though and it was a spectacular show!  I wish we could have gotten some pictures of it.

Our host also showed us a webpage that has fireworks that we can do with Lady Liberty

Miami, Florida, USA - 5th July 2008

By: carlissa

This morning I went for a walk around the neighborhood and I saw some palm trees!

I've always wanted to climb a palm tree, but it doesn't look as easy as I thought it would be!  These trees are so big and there are no branches at the bottom!  My host had to help me a little bit, but I climbed one of them!

Miami, Florida, USA - 7th July 2008

By: carlissa

Today I left Miami to continue my travels on the Haunted Trail.  Although I didn't find any ghosts in Miami, I hope I will find some in England!  I hope the weather is better there too!  It is too hot and rainy in Miami in the summertime!

Silbury Hill, England - 20th July 2008

By: Steve & Helly

First stop was at Silbury Hill this morning. No ghosts to see here but instead the biggest man made hill in the world and no one knows why it's here.

Avebury, England - 21st July 2008

By: Steve & Helly

Avebury is famous for it's stone circle which is huge and encompasses much of the village. It also has a long avenue of stones - called The Avenue! - hich lead to the circle. Many people have reported seeing dancing figures around the stones. At first they are mistaken for children, then people realise they are ghostly.

This is me at The Avenue.

Avebury, England - 21st July 2008

By: Steve & Helly

I drove through Avebury on the way to helly's work. This is her daily drive, right through the middle of the stone circle.

The Red Lion pub is famous for being haunted. It has appeared on TV loads of times. A ghostly lady has appeared and frightened customers in the corridor by the toilets. She has also thrown things around rooms.

There's also a famous photo showing a man with a bloody face reflected in a mirror.

I'm so glad we're not stopping.

OHH, is that a ghost in the windscreen? . . . Oh it's OK, it's only MY reflection! Phew!

Cherhill, England - 5th August 2008

By: Steve & Helly

Ohh, how spooky, a crop circle has appeared at the foot of Cherhill Hill.

Helly drove home last night and spotted lots of cars, she glanced left and saw the circle so this evening she got her lift to drop her off and she and Steve took me up the hill to see if I could see it any better from up high.

Oh, it's not a great view from here, but you can see the white horse and Cherhill monument.

Cherhill, England - 5th August 2008

By: Steve & Helly

The crop circles appear overnight and no one sees how they are formed. Some people have reported being on a hill, there being a strange wind and then looking to see that a crop circle has appeared. Others think groups of people do it in the night.

Either way, they are usually beautifully symmetrical and very rarely are any of the ears of corn or wheat broken or bruised.

Steve took his son to visit one a couple of years ago and a man showed him how, right in the middle, his magnet would not find north but just kept spinning around.

I walked up to the right of the circle and then along a ridge, just below the monument and white horse and back down the other side.

If you look carefully at the picture you can see a line of trees about half way up. This is where I started from.

Cherhill, England - 5th August 2008

So,

It was back down the footpath leading to the road and back to the car, except, guess what?

The best view of all was from the side of the road!!

Avebury, England - 5th September 2008

By: Steve & Helly

First stop this morning was at the Adam and Eve stones for a bit of ghost hunting.

No ghosts this morning but people walking along the path at night have heard footsteps which come up behind them and then overtake them. As they do so there's a gust of wind as if someone has walked by in a hurry. . .

Ther's never been anyone there!

Avebury, England - 5th September 2008

By: Steve & Helly

Next stop was in Avebury itself. No ghosts in the high street . . . and I'm staying well away from the pub!

Can you see the barns in the background? These belong to Avebury Manor which is haunted by the ghost of a cavalier soldier who sits in a window waiting for his loved one to return.

The room always smells of roses after he's been.

Bayeux, France - 20th September 2008

By: Steve & Helly

Here I am in France . . . can you tell? Probably not as the sky looks the same here as in England!

I'm sitting on top of Steve's car at a 2CV rally. More of that later!
