Calne, England - 25th May 2008
By: Steve & Helly
Well, I arrived here in England a little while ago. Unfortunately poor Steve & Helly have been rushed off their feet so I've been resting.
I've been amusing myself by watching English TV. Tonight it was a programme about Stonehenge.
Sorry about the photos, I hope you can see them OK.
Love SG x

Bristol Airport, England - 30th May 2008
By: Steve & Helly
Well, my introduction to England has not been good as the weather has been too bad for getting out and about.
However, today was fantastic! Helly was at work and Steve took the day off to have his children.
So, here I am, plane spotting at Bristol Airport. We parked at the perimiter fence and had a fantastic view of the planes.

To plane spot you need:
A print out of the flights going in and out of the airport that day
Binoculers
A copy of 'Civil Aircraft' book
A log book and pen
Here I am with my friend, Rangler, getting ready to spot.

Avebury, England - 5th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
The sun is shining and I'm off to explore the local landscape. First stop is Silbury Hill. This is the largest man made hill in Europe and no one knows why it's here.
English Heritage have just finished some lengthy work to support it as it was collapsing, the result of Victorian excavations.

Avebury, England - 5th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
This is an avenue of stones called . . . funnily enough . . . The Avenue. It leads to Avebury Stone Circle. There used to be two avenues. Only two stones remain of the other one. Helly is hoping to show me them next week.

Overton Hill, England - 6th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
Overton Hill has seven round barrows, ancient burial mounds. Wiltshire has hundreds of them, from the famous West Kennet Long Barrow to the lesser known East Kennet Long Barrow, which is larger than the one at West kennet but not open to the public.
The round barrows here are situated next to The Ridgeway. This ancient path has been used since prehistoric times by herdsmen, soldiers and travellers.

Cherhill, England - 8th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
Wiltshire is famous for its eight white horses. This is Cherhill's, one of the largest. I'd like to climb up there, although it looks a long way up.

Wroughton, England - 10th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
Here I am, back in Wroughton, this time it's to meet another Toy Voyager, Stedman.
Stedman is about to start his big adventure and visit Calne in America. he's very excited, although a bit nervous. Rangler & I told him all about Toy Voyaging and how exciting it was.
I think we put his mind at rest!
Oh, and Bud's arrived too.

Calne, England - 15th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
I'm told I'm going to do something VERY exciting today, which not many people get to do.
However, first stop, Calne itself to look at some tiles local school children have made. I rested on the back of a big frog and pretended I was being taken for a froggy ride.
Oh, and an enormous pump!

Haynes Motor Museum, England - 15th June 2008
By: Steve & Helly
It's Father's Day and Helly has brought her Dad here, to Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford.
These old cars are Morris Itals. Helly's Dad used to work at the factory that made them.
After spending time outside I went inside the museum
Helly has two favourite cars, a Morris Minor, and this . . . a Frogeye Sprite.
The green car is almost identical to one Helly's Grampy used to have.

Two Citroens next . . .
A 2CV - of course - and this rather lovely Traction Avant. I can just imagine gangsters hanging out the sides.
Then I found a tiny car, just perfect for Rangler and me!
