Bedburg, close to Cologne, Germany - 9th February 2009
By: Tine1969
Oh Mummy, in two days I will go to Africa. Tine gave us this information some minutes ago. Africa - that's so far away and I will be there in two days - WOW!
I will go together with all the other tovoyagers - everybody is allowed to come with Tine, noone has to stay a home.
We will visit Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. We will help Tine with her charity work in two schools in the slums. There we will meet a lot of children and maybe we can play with them.
Tine showed us some photos of the children - on one photo we could see the girl who Tine sponsor herself. She is called Faith and she is in class 6 now.
I am really happy now...

Today we made a cup of coffee for our host Tine - she liked that very much. You can see the photos on Mandarin's page.
Have a good time,

Nairobi, Kenya - 14th February 2009
By: Tine1969
Hi Mum,
now I am in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. It's really hot here, much hotter than in Germany where I stayed before.
Today is a very important day in Kenya - it's Valentines Day.
We, the "Funtastic Four" decided to give our host Tine a present because she had brought us to Kenya.
At first we didn't know, what to give to her, but then we had an idea.
We counted our money and I was really happy because we had enough Kenyan Shillings.
Then we bought a special Valentines card for Tine and she was happy about our present.
Bye-bye,
Ninni

Hi Mummy,
after the first working days in Kenya we made a trip to the Mamba Village. Mamba Village is a park in the outskirt of Nairobi - there everything is green and there is a lake too. I enjoyed the trip and the others did the same.

Hi Mummy!
On Monday we went back to the Kwa Watoto School again. Kwa Watoto is situated in the slum of Soweto. Soweto is in the Eastern part of Nairobi. In the slum there aren't nice houses and the whole slum doesn't look very nice. But the people were very friendly and I liked to be at school.

Hi Mummy,
look what we got for breakfast every day. I enjoyed my meals very much, especially my pancakes.
After breakfast we went to the Soweto slum again and helped Tine with her charity work in the library.

Hi Mummy!
Our hotel has its own pool on top of the building. After our days at school we went to the pool to relax. That was great.

Thika, Kenya - 19th February 2009
By: Tine1969
Hi Mummy!
This day was our next "trip day" - we went to Thika, a town not too far from Nairobi. At first Tine had to do some charity work as well, because a former student of the school is now learning in a hospital to be a nurse, but then we went to the Thika waterfall, which was great.

Bedburg, close to Cologne, Germany - 7th March 2009
By: Tine1969
Hi Mummy!
Back in Germany we were all sick. The weather was terrible for a lot of weeks. During the first day with some sun we went to the mill of Grottenherten, which is a small village belonging to Bedburg. The mill is situated about one kilometre outside the village.

Magdeburg, Germany - 21st March 2009
By: Tine1969
Hi Mummy!
Now we are healthy again... and Tine took us on a weekend trip to Magdeburg, the capital city of Saxony-Anhalt in the Eastern part of Germany.
On our first day we visited a park close to the cathedral of Magdeburg and a monument inside the park. After that we saw the results of an excarvation. Then we went to the river Elbe and walked on the river promenade. There we saw a special clock monument which had clocks with different times all over the cube. My time was the time at the river Euphrat.
Then we went to a special bridge. The building of the bridge had been payed by some of the inhabitants of Magdeburg. Everyone who had given some money to the bridge got a star on the bridge monument.
Later we went back home again.

Tangermünde, Germany - 22nd March 2009
By: Tine1969
Hi Mummy,
on Sunday we went to Tangermünde by car. Tangermünde isn't too far away - it took us one houer to get there. We found a parking place in the old part of the town close to the old town walls. It was nice to walk close to the river Elbe, to see the old buildings, some stoney donkeys and there was a playground for us as well.

Hi Mummy,
on Monday we went to an unsual house - it is called the Hundertwasser House - have a look at this strange building in the middle of the city. We also saw some funny monuments.
Then we went back to our car and had to leave Magdeburg because it took us several hours to reach Bedburg again.
