Hello! I arrived in Germany to today and finally got out of my envelope. Someone damaged my head a little bit, so my host and I picked out the best color yarn for me and now I have a real battle scar!

I saw the Autobahn today. It's a kind of highway without general speedlimit. In some places, as here where it goes through the city there is a set speedlimit, but outside of those everybody can drive as fast as they want. The track in the middle is for the busses. They can take this shortcut from this part of the city to the city center. The subway/tram has a similar track in the middle of the Autobahn.

We needed to run some errands and took a look at some different neighborhoods in the city on the way. I found a Kindergarten in one neighborhood.

I saw this little chapel in the city. It's funny, there's even forests and whole farms inside the city here. Therefore one city directly 'flows' into the next. It's very closely populated here.
Apart from the Chapel you can see me with the old city-hall of this area. It was built in 1907-08. There's also a more detailed view from the side.
And the rest are just some of the older residential houses around here.

I was invited to a birthday party today and there was a lot of cake. I ate so much I felt like I was bursting. Philéas, Räuber and I cuddled up for a digestive nap but I didn't like the so called cave that much and left instead to enjoy the sun.

Wuppertal, Germany - 12th April 2008

Philéas and I wanted to know where our hosts went to even in bad weather to come back covered in mudd. So we hid in one of the big bags they take with them in the car. When we arrived we found a natural hiding place to look down on the people who were all hitting balls at a driving range. Philéas thought it all very funny, the way they were moving, but I was scared of being hit by a ball. Some of the people didn't always just hit the ball to the front but up and to all sides and those ball are nearly as big as I am. So I told Philéas that I couldn't see properly and he let me climb on his back. I felt much safer there and I figured that any stray ball would hit Philéas head instead of me.

Homburg, Germany - 14th April 2008

We are in Homburg now because the new semester is starting. We drove down yesterday, it took nearly 3.5 hours and we had lots of rain, so we didn't stop for photos.
Today we welcomed a new TV: Little Tex.
Now we're settling down to decide on a sports class for this semester.

Today we visited the european cultural park. It's on the border between Germany and France. There's a Roman villa and village with baths as well as celtic burial mounds and the reconstructed grave of a celtic countess. The villa included place for animals to graze, a vegetable garden, bassins etc.

Here I am on a statue that has been made like the animal on the carafe that was found in the countess' grave. She had a lot of jewelry and such.
The stables are rebuilt like an old village, with grass on some roofs, typical fences and decorations.
