Lisbon, Portugal - 10th July 2008

By: Penvmbra

Hello everyone!

Today me and Migui+Gui went for a walk on the old streets of Lisbon.

First we catched an electric tram. Penvmbra's mum helped us in this picture  :p

Inside the tram with two french tourists  ;)

We found a panda bear in a terrace and waved at him  :cyclops:

And then we went for a tea in a very original bar:

Penvmbra's house, Lisbon, Portugal - 25th July 2008

By: Penvmbra

Hello!

I don't know if you noticed on my last pictures, but my fur was darkened by the dust I catched on my voyages, so Penvmbra gave me my first bath :D

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/03/DSCF1968.jpg

Ahhh, it was so relaxing...

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/03/DSCF1969.jpg

I even played with the bubbles, eheh

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/03/DSCF1970.jpg

And then I went to the terrace to have some sun and dry my fur.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/03/DSCF1974.jpg

Now I smell good and my fur is white again  :cyclops:

Bunny kisses,

Margarida

A Cañiza,Pontevedra, Galicia,Spain - 5th August 2008

By: Penvmbra

'Hola'!

Today I left Lisbon in early night to go to a very small town named Casanxo, placed in A Cañiza, a municipality in Galicia, in the province of Pontevedra.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Migui%20Gui/07/DSC09094.jpg

There wasn't much to see there, but there was a small graveyard I visited:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Migui%20Gui/07/DSCF2220.jpg

Then a cat arrived. Look at him with my mum Penvmbra:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Migui%20Gui/07/DSC09074.jpg

The houses are all in stone:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Migui%20Gui/07/DSC09087.jpg

And there was this little fountain with very fresh and clean water:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Migui%20Gui/07/DSC09085.jpg

After this short visit we moved to Vigo as I'll show you in my next log ;)

See you soon,

Margarida

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Migui%20Gui/07/DSCF2249.jpg

There was happening a fair near the beach and we went there to take a look:

Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal - 23rd August 2008

By: Penvmbra

Hello, hello!

I haven't updated my travel log for quite a longe time, but now I'm back with new photos :D

This time I went to Azores, a portuguese archipelago of 9 beautifil islands.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2592.jpg

I went to the Santa Maria Island, one of the smallest in the archipelago.

With me there was Mumu,Migui+Gui and Vladimir:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1761.jpg

We studied a little about the place:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1759.jpg

But to stay at home was a pity with one of the best beaches in the world by our side:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1624.jpg

The beaches aren't too big, but the sand is like velvet, the water is very clean and the air very pure :)

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1809.jpg

One day we went to Maia, a small place by the sea, and we found these ducks living there freely:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1776.jpg

This baby is soooo cute  :cyclops:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1785.jpg

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1806.jpg

The outskirts of the place:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1808.jpg

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1809.jpg

Hm...we were offered grapes from the region ;)

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1828.jpg

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1830.jpg

The typical boat:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1836.jpg

The sunset:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1849.jpg

Those are typical tools used in the ancient times: the mill wheels and the jars to store food and drink:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1963.jpg

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF1964.jpg

In this place Cristopher Colombus stoped on his way to Europe, after discovering America:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2019.jpg

In these islands there is a tradition of serving a special soap in honor of the Holy Spirit.
The soap is served for free to anyone who wants to come in and is made like in the ancient times, with home made bread and meat from the cows of the people there:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2109.jpg

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2116.jpg

The queue for the soaps:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2117.jpg

Inside the chapel:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2126.jpg

Eating the soap:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2128.jpg

Mumu introduced us some member of her family.
They live happy and in peace in this islands :)

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2129.jpg

It is amazing to feel surrounded by sea:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2155.jpg

Look ate the color of the sand there:

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2166.jpg

And this is Faneco, the sweetest dog I ever met, eheh

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/04/DSCF2244.jpg

I may say I loved this travel :D

Vale dos Gaios, Portugal - 17th September 2008

By: Penvmbra

Today is a warm day and I took the opportunity to go to a calm place, 2 hours from Lisbon, to relax and enjoy the Nature.

http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t56/Penvmbra/ToyVoyagers/Margarida/05/DSCF2531.jpg

The place is called Barrage of Vale dos Gaios.
There was no one there, so I mounted my tend and spend the whole day enjoying the place, hearing the birds and bathing. :)

When the moon rose, I went back home.

Remscheid, Germany - 4th October 2008

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today! Everything is fine with me.

I crashed into my new host's breakfast when I arrived. I was welcomed by Moley and Katja.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3079/2911011799_be5d8740a4.jpg?v=0

Katja has to prepare a cage now.

A cage?!

Am I supposed to live in a cage here?

But no, Katja told me that two rats will arrive in the afternoon. They will be brought from a friend who picks them up at an animal shelter. One of them is a really old rat, about 2 1/2 years old and a young one that was found outside a few days ago.

I'll tell you more about it later. Now I'll have a look at the breakfast table.

Bye

Remscheid, Germany - 4th October 2008

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
we helped to prepare the cage and it's ready for it's new residents. Have a look!

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3204/2912102210_8830a710dc.jpg?v=0

There's even a cool hammock.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3067/2911254351_b4350d9b47.jpg?v=0

The rats arrived already. Here you can see them.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3213/2912102420_738697594b.jpg?v=0

This is the old rat girl, we now have to find a name for her. Can you imagine that the former owners brought her to the animal shelter without telling her name? I think that's sad. Now the old lady not only has to accustom to a new home but also to a new name.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3033/2912102468_a207e97ea5.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3062/2911254641_6371ed2646.jpg?v=0

This is Bella.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3215/2911254841_5ca40e940f.jpg?v=0

We will now leave them alone until evening, so they can choose a house to have a nap or to eat.

Remscheid, Germany - 6th October 2008

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
we took a walk today after we had rain every day since I arrived here. The weather was not too good but at least it did not rain any more.

Even with bad weather you can see the colours of autumn.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3195/2919177009_8c727330b8.jpg?v=0

Katja took the fastest way through the muncipal park to meet a friend. A circus is in town, on the place where the fun fair usually us taking place.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3215/2919177461_bf53ff5936.jpg?v=0

We met Katja's friend and walked along the "Route of tools" (Trasse des Werkzeugs) which was built on a closed railway track. It is a lane for pedestrians and cyclists, about 5 km long. It was sponsored by local companies, mostly they produce tools. You can find artwork along the route as well as large signs with the emblems of the sponsors, here is one of them.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3047/2919177647_2160db6078.jpg?v=0

On the next sign you can see the crest of Remscheid with a lion and a sickle.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/2919177781_4b941c7539.jpg?v=0

In the following section of the route you can see some abandoned factory old buildings.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3225/2919178071_0d67ab770a.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3116/2919178387_a0fdf1ba1a.jpg?v=0

This work of art is made of the remains of cutted cranked shafts. The parts were welded and  rivetted and then coloured by children. Can you see us?

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3122/2920025994_5d91682ffa.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3026/2919179697_828c388fe4.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3077/2920024740_9295bc4b67.jpg?v=0

Here we have many old houses close to the lane. In the past the trains must have been rolling almost through the living rooms of those houses.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3278/2919178889_036685388f.jpg?v=0

This sign marks the entrance (or the end) of the route of tools, you can also read some explanations here.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/2920025190_31eec07504.jpg?v=0

We went home through the town centre.

Remscheid, Germany - 8th October 2008

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
the weather is really bad here.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/2923607025_a4aa3c88a5.jpg?v=0

In the afternoon we want to take a walk with Katja's Dad. For lunch we cooked a fantastic soup - a carrot soup!

We needed the following ingredients for 4 portions:

600 g carrots
2 onions
150 ml orange juice
2 tbls soy sauce
800 ml vegetable stock

chili , black pepper, salt, paprika

4 tbls sour cream
1 tbls chopped ginger

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3165/2923605629_23caf2ee2b.jpg?v=0

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3250/2923606749_1835bc667a.jpg?v=0

First you peel carrots and onions, cut them into slices. Heat some oil and braise onions and carrots lightly, than add orange juice, soy sauce and vegetable stocking. Cook until the carrots are cooked.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3228/2923606861_1b7f14c513.jpg?v=0

Then you have to puree the soup.

First everything looked good ...
