We went out early this morning after the sun came up. It was a chilly 45 degrees F and a little breezy. We drove up to see Grandad's Bluff ... what you see is river fog. (Mississippi River) She said she'd drive me up there again when there is no fog so we can see more. The bluff overlooks the city of La Crosse (most of it).

We had to look at signs and follow rules. Old Glory can be seen from many points in La Crosse. The only time it's not flying is during Christmas holiday when they do a light formation of a tree.

We found an historical landmark, so we stopped and read it.

More pictures later!!

We got a special treat. She was just going to show me a local paddle wheeler boat but we saw one that came all the way from Louisiana! The Julia Belle Swain. I got to see where the Captain steers the boat and how big it is! The last picture is of the La Crosse Queen, the local paddle wheel boat. It was close to sunset so hard to see.

We went to a local park where I got to see an American Eagle statue, the fountain that represents all the rivers flowing into the Mississippi River in Wisconsin, see a good portion of what the Mississippi looks like, the two bridges that connect Minnesota to Wisconsin, saw Tecumseh (she said this was native American land), found a book that also travels, designer bird that has a flock all over La Crosse (each one is unique), and a funny shot of me chillin in a Pepsi machine!

Correction: My host found out that she was wrong. The Julia Belle Swain is native to this area.
OOps...

Oh Boy! Did we have a blast today. She took me to an apple orchard/farm! I got to pick an apple (it's almost big as me!) ... then I posed for a couple silly pictures ... Look Mom! I'm a cow!. We started a corn maze but then heard the last call for a hay ride, technically no hay, but still a fun ride and it shows a lot of apple trees! Then I found me a nice sized pumpkin! On the way out we saw some billy goats... they were being silly by going up so high!

more pictures later, she's taking me out again today!

My host's mom woke her up this morning and let her know that one of the river boats from Louisiana was here! (only from 8am - 1pm) So of course she had to take me down to see it! WOW. A little animal like me could get lost in there! It's a floating hotel!
Right behind the American Queen is the Julia Belle Swain. Can you see how big of the difference is??

Before leaving the park, got to see how busy the river was ... a barge passed by. Got to see more ducks and a better view of the La Crosse Queen.
We stopped on the way home and did a candid shot of a local watering hole ... she likes the slogan!
Also a pose of me in front of a world landmark.

Parade Pictures: Kazoo Band, Ho-Chunk Tribe (she says there is a big casino in the middle of the state for them), the only thing that we saw that was Marines in nature (I know 'daddy' will like it!) , parade loot!
We were so tired from today that we slept when we got home!

Parade Pics:
Saw a cow in parade (well, I am in the dairy state), and a chicken!, and me and the American flag in support of our troops, and all of the birds lined up! (remember me posing by 2 of them?) A local radio station helping to promote breast cancer awareness (October) ... she said this is a fun promotion to watch. The only time you get to see lingerie on display for a good cause!

Parade Pics:
Harley Davidson motorcycles ... created in WI.
Me with Mardi Gras beads. I was just cute enough that I got them!
Wow! I got to see Ronald McDonald!!
Lots of countries are represented here... She said the University here has flags flying over all the campus from other countries.
I wonder if hedgehogs could help out on this one? Oh wait, I'm stuffed!

Wow, busy day. We went to a long parade (10am - 1:30pm)! She took lots of pictures of me so I would remember what I saw.
They started out the parade with all the local men/women who protect us (even hedgehogs!). She was impressed with this vehicle, so was I. This puffy tall guy is a fireman.
This guy just had a funky hairdo.
The University of La Crosse (UW-L; Screaming Eagles) band is a fun one... she got serenaded by one of the band members (as part of the act that they do). The mascot was cool, he posed but not in time for me to get in frame!
One of the many vehicles that are patriotic...
