Federation Square, Gold Creek, Australia - 10th October 2008
By: becka_kate
Today was a girlie day of coffee shops, craft shops and interior design idea hunting.... How boring! The only good part of the day was conversing with the koi in the pond I found in the complex.

Lake George, Australia - 11th October 2008
By: becka_kate
Time to head back home again...
I took control of the sound system and found a lot of music I hadn't heard before by some Australian bands.
I was told I was in for a surprise or two on the way home and I was intrigued.
Our first stop was at the weirdest lake I've ever seen. Look at it!!
Have you ever seen anything like it? There's no water to be seen at all! Lake George is an ancient lake, and a strange sight as sometimes its full of water and at other times its completely empty. No one knows for sure why this happens.

Golbourn, Australia - 11th October 2008
By: becka_kate
The second surprise of the day was a stop at the Big Merino in Golbourn, although we were a little disappointed to find out that the viewing platform was closed (when it's open you can look out through his eyes over the surrounding area)
Look at its very appropriate letter (mail) box!
Some big facts and figures....
He's the biggest Merino sheep in the world, standing 15.2metres in height and weighing in at 97 tonnes.
On the 26th May 2007 he was transported 800 metres down Hume Street to his new location (the town had been bypassed, so he was moved closer to the freeway). There's video of the move on their website. The move starts at 01:35 if you want to watch it. It's pretty interesting.

Sydney, Australia - 19th October 2008
By: becka_kate
Well, have had a very boring weekend helping to move furniture and the like as my host is in the process of built in wardrobes built. I'm tired! Looking for a more fun time for the rest of the week!
(no photos just yet .. the camera accidentally got left on the wrong side of the furniture / clothes pile! oops!)

Sydney, Australia - 25th October 2008
By: becka_kate
More furniture moving and spring cleaning I'm sad to report....
And I've been learning how to make a latch hook rug. Its a time consuming excersize, having taken more than 3 months to get to this point (in bits and pieces when my host has had time / been in the country!). It will look cute once it's all finished, don't you think?

Warwick Farm, Australia - 28th October 2008

Steve is on his way to his next stop on the ATVT.
Feeling bad that I hadn't had the opportunity to show him the more iconic sights of Sydney I showed him the next best thing on my way to work this morning.
I'm not sure whether or not he was impressed....
The replica bridge spans the entrance to a large car dealership. I know there's a story behind why its there, but right now it's not coming to mind.
(Sorry for the photo quality but I was taking the photo while stopped at a set of traffic lights)
