I arrived to Tenerife a few days ago but my host has been quite busy and hasn't been able to update earlier...here's a foto of me and the other ToyVoyagers that welcomed me to my host's house:

Today we said goodbye to Wieka. I hope she'll have a great time in Malaysia. We had a small farewell party for her. First we had some chicken kebabs:


And then some desserts:

I'm sorry it's taken such a long time for me to update. My host's mum has been over so she hasn't had much time for the computer.

On the 28th of November we went up to "Mirador de la Centinela"..a view place. Here are some photos from there.





There was some cross up there too.

Today we walked up Montaña Roja (the red mountain) in La Tejita. The view from the mountain was great!

Today we went up north, to a religious town called Candelaria. We visited a church there.

This was a room where you had to pay money to light (electric) candles.

Today we decorated the Christmas tree (I'm sorry the update's taken a while..my host has been really busy)


We also decided to take a photo with the poinsettia

A few days after this photo, Purple Bun had to leave to Estonia.

Today we've been baking Christmas desserts because my host is working on the 23rd and also on the 24th so she won't have time otherwise.

First we made some English mince pies.


Then we made some Finnish Christmas pastries. They are very easy to make, you just buy a packet of ready rolled puff pastry and cut in into squares like on this photo


Then you cut each corner of each square same as on this photo and add a bit of plum or apricot jam in the centre of each of the squares


TThen you just fold in the same side of each cut corner which will form stars like these


And then you just put them in the oven for 10-15 minutes (or depending what your pastry instructions say..and the final result is this

Then we also made some filled bread eventhough it's not really a xmas dish

Today we baked the Christmas ham

Our host was working all day yesterday so when she came home this morning she opened all her Christmas presents. She was so excited to open them that she even forgot to wait for us to help her open them.. She had a lot of things to do this morning, especially as she brought in another cat she had found at work!! So she couldn't let us help with the rest of the cooking so we could just enjoy the final result which was this

Happy New Year 2009!!!

We spent the new year's eve at home. First we had a sauna


And then we relaxed on the terrace for a bit as we were feeling so hot!


Then we had some pizza for late dinner and then it was already 1st of January 2009 and we went out to check out the firework displays

Happy Epiphany, or the Kings' day as they celebrate it here in Spain. My host doesn't celebrate the 6th of January for that reason though but for her birthday.

We made some oatcakes for lunch.


And in the evening a couple of friends came over for some birthday tiramisu and tea

Today it was time for Dottie Mouse to move on. She's going back to her home country Germany. We all hope she'll have a great time over there.
