Okinawa, Japan - 13th April 2009

By: JaymeC

Mommy,
We had a great Easter! First we found Jayme's children's Easter Baskets.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7084.jpg
Then we headed out for the Easter Egg Hunt. And guess who we saw there? Yes! The Easter Bunny!
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7016.jpg
They also had other things like face painting and such to do, and we had lots of fun checking out the fire truck.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7034.jpg
Finally it was time for the egg hunt. Do you see all the eggs behind me?
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7045.jpg
And they're off! All the kids trying to get the eggs. The parents aren't supposed to help, but they were rather misbehaved at this egg hunt :(
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7049.jpg
We headed home and decided to make eggs of our own. Here I am dying eggs
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7062.jpg
Then we had to let them dry.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7057.jpg
Then we put stickers on them! Such fun
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7081.jpg
Whew. It was lots of fun.  Mommy I haven't heard from you for awhile :( I'm getting a bit worried. I'm going to be safely waiting on a shelf at JaymeC's until I hear from you, or in a few weeks I'll come home to see if I can find you. I hope everything's okay!

Okinawa, Japan - 20th April 2009

Dear Mommy,
It was great to hear from you! I hope I get to find out who my next host is soon. To prepare to get ready to go we went out to the playground again today to stretch out. Us visiting toyvoyagers went out along with 4 of the toys that are going to be released as wild tvs. We all decided to stretch out some. We took some fun group shots.

http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7139.jpg
And then just played for a bit. I went down the slide!
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7144.jpg
Hope to hear from you again soon mommy,
Bobbie

Okinawa, Japan - 30th April 2009

By: JaymeC

Dear Mommy,
I'm sorry I haven't updated the last few days! You see, Jayme's grandfather arrived all the way from the US to visit. She's been quite busy taking him around and when she finally had time to sit down and update all our travel logs photobucket was being a pain and wouldn't let her upload all her photos. She's really quite frustrated, but she's trying to catch up on some of the updates now. The first place we went to was the Nakamura House. This is a very old home on Okinawa of family that lived here in the 1600s that was quite rich. Here I am in the parking lot.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7177.jpg
And here's the entrance.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7156.jpg
It was raining quite a bit, but I got some pictures of the outside courtyard in the middle of the house.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7170.jpg
We sat down to relax for a bit.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7164.jpg
Here's the kitchen area.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7162.jpg
I liked some of the small decorations in the house.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7163.jpg
And on the way out we found all these Shisa on the wall, aren't they neat? Sorry I didn't get my photo on them, but it was raining and Jayme didn't want her camera to get all wet so she took the photo real fast.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7175.jpg
More updates to follow!
Bobbie

Okinawa, Japan - 30th April 2009

Dear Mommy,
Today we went to a place called Okinawa World. It was quite fun! Here's the entrance where we got our tickets.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7190.jpg
They had lots of pretty flowers.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7191.jpg
Then we went down into a cave, it was quite a long tiring walk, but look at how neat it was! We had lots of fun.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7206.jpg
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7203.jpg
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7223.jpg
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7226.jpg
When we came out we were in a bit of a craft area. Here they were making glass.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7238.jpg
There was also a nice little waterfall out the entrance.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7246.jpg
And some typical Okinawan buildings that were selling the crafts being made.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7247.jpg
In one building we got to see examples of various Shisa's through the centuries.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7251.jpg
It was a lot of fun! More updates to come soon,
Bobbie

Okinawa, Japan - 30th April 2009

By: JaymeC

Dear Mommy,
We took another trip to the Peace Memorial on Okinawa. It is a very sad place. Over 200,000 people died on Okinawa during World War II. 76,000 Japanese soldiers, 6,000 American Soldiers, and over 100,000 civilians. This park was built to remember them. In one building they have 1000 cranes in a wish for peace.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7401.jpg
Here is the Memorial itself. Every one who died during the Battle of Okinawa is remembered here with their name carved into the stone.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7432.jpg
The park is situated very beautifully on the edge of these cliffs.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7446.jpg
More soon,
Bobbie

Dear Mommy,
We went to the Chinese Gardens. There's not much to learn here, but its a very restful place. I hope you like the photos here.

Okinawa, Japan - 30th April 2009

By: JaymeC

Dear Mommy,
Our last visit over the last few days was to the Shinike-an gardens. These were the royal gardens before Okinawa was taken over by the Japanese. It used to be an independent island chain country called the Ryukyan Islands. These gardens are where the King would come to relax. Its also an UNESCO location.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7262.jpg
This is the gate the king used to come in through.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7265.jpg
Here is a small spring where they would get their fresh water.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7268.jpg
We walked through a short path in a wooded area
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7269.jpg
And we came out at the royal rest house.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7311.jpg
Here's what it looked like inside. It was very large.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7272.jpg
Here's the view outside of it to the pond.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7275.jpg
They had a neat stone bridge here.
http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn291/jaymestvs/IMG_7298.jpg
Whew! I'm about worn out. Do you have the address to my next host mommy? I could use a bit of a break in an envelope!
Bobbie
