Kaldenkirchen, Germany - 18th April 2010

By: inkie1010

Hello mum!!

Today we decided to take a look in Kaldenkirchen, just accross the German border near the Dutch city Venlo. First we took the train from Eindhoven to Venlo (40 minutes) and then another 8 minutes to get in Kaldenkirchen (so it's actually not very far away!).

We did not really know what the city was like, but we just wanted to get out and enjoy the nice weather. It appeared there was some kind of festival in the city and even a small fun fair!

Here are the pictures:

Ospel, The Netherlands - 25th April 2010

By: inkie1010

Hello again!!

This afternoon we went for a 6km walking trail at National Park "De Groote Peel", which is about 45 minutes drive from here. We went by car:

Me in the car helping to navigate using the Go! Explore on the PlayStation Portable:

Some information about the Groote Peel National park:

De Groote Peel is a National Park in the Peel, a region in the Southeast of the Netherlands on the border between the provinces of Limburg and North Brabant. It has a size of 13,4 km² and preserves a peat-bog that has remained partly untouched by peat cutting, which used to be extensive in the area.

Here you see the typical landscape of the park:

http://i41.tinypic.com/213pwtx.jpg

On the border of the park you see the farming area:

And now I wait for wednesday!! Then we go to Jordan!! :)

Jerash, Jordan - 30th April 2010

By: inkie1010

Hello mum!

When we arrived in Jordan, we visited Jerash on the second day. It was a bit cloudy that day.  Jerash is considered one of the most important and best preserved Roman cities in the Near East. It was a city of the Decapolis.

Here are some pictures of me in Jerash:

Amman, Jordan - 30th April 2010

By: inkie1010

In Amman, the capital of Jordan, we visited the citadel. The Amman Citadel symbolizes the birth of three religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

From the citadel we had a great view over the city Amman, which is quite big with around 2 million inhabitants.

Petra, Jordan - 5th May 2010

By: inkie1010

Of course we also visited Jordans most famous historical site: Petra. It was very hot there! On the picture you see me together with  Al Khazneh, or also called the Treasury. After a walk through the gorge (the Siq) it suddenly appears between the cliffs, really impressive!

Aqaba, Jordan - 6th May 2010

By: inkie1010

The last two days we spent in Aqaba at the Red Sea. Here you see me and the view from our hotel. It was very very hot in Aqaba! Luckily there was a swimming pool at the hotel! The city you see on the other side is Eilat, Israel!
We also made a boat trip for snorkeling which was great fun!

http://i44.tinypic.com/dhcvti.jpg

The trip to Jordan was great! It is a beautiful country with a lot of interesting places to see. The landscape is beautiful and varies a lot.
The food is great and the people were very friendly!!

Now I have to get used to the cool Dutch weather at the moment!!

Hugs,
Lucan

Muiden, The Netherlands - 26th July 2010

By: inkie1010

Hello mum!!

Yesterday we visited a real medieval castle, the "Muiderslot".
It's not very far from Amsterdam, and you often see it from the airplane when you land at Schiphol airport.

The castle was built around 1280.

Here are the pictures:
