Hi!

We went shopping today and Katja thought, once we had already finished shopping that we should really take some photos as there hasn't been many updates for a while. So we just got a photo of the shopping trolley and the parking area. Next time maybe she'll get her camera out sooner

Hi! Today while going back home from work we stopped at a parking area in Los Cristianos to take a couple of photos.

When we got home, we found a parcel collection notice so off we went to get it. Took some photos on our way back home.

Today we made some pizza

Today we went up north to change Dave's driving licence into a Spanish one.

On our way back we took some photos of the views. Here you can see Montaña Roja in El Medano which is right next to the Reina Sofia (South Tenerife) airport.

Today is Synapse's last day in Tenerife so Katja thought she should show him at least something typical of Tenerife so in the morning we got up early as Katja had to go for a blood test in a place called San Miguel. It's a village, a bit higher up the mountain and once she had had the blood extracted we drove up for about 10 minutes to find this place where we could find some typical Canarian plants.

And some prickly pears (higo pico=stinging fig for Canarians) too. The fruit is used for many different things. People make jam, juice, liquor etc out of them or you can just peel it and eat it. Canarians also use a parasite called Cochineal, that lives on the leaves of this cacti, to prepare carmine dye that is used to dye fabrics but also used as food and cosmetic colouring

Katja thought Synapse should have something to eat before he starts his journey towards Estonia. Hopefully it won't take him long to get there.

So first we had some "makaroonilaatikko" which is a Finnish dish, a macaroni bake, with some salad.


Then he had to top up his sugar intake just in case he was delayed in the post so we had some blueberry pie that Katja made a couple of days ago, some chocolate, liquirice and grapes

Today we've been painting the baby's room. This is what it looked like before

It's still October but we've still done the first bit of Christmas baking We made some Christmas stars, that's a Finnish Christmas dessert made out of puff pastry and plum jam.

First you get a sheet of puff pastry


Then you cut it in squares and then cut all the corners open


Then you put some plum jam in the middle


And then just bend every second corner half in the middle and brush with egg and bake in 225ºC for 10-15mins


And they come out like this:


And then you just sprinkle some icing sugar on top and they're done

Eventhough Halloween was already a week ago, tonight we decided to watch the film Halloween. I thought it was really scary eventhough it's an old fim.

Today Katja and Dave went to sell at a second hand market to clear out some space for the baby. They were really surprised how quick most of the stuff went. They hadn't even got half of the stuff out when people started buying stuff and some of them even started going through the bags looking for stuff! Unfortunately we couldn't take any photos in the beginning as there were 2 or 3 customers asking something all the time. So these photos are when it was already almost over and that's why the tables look so empty. We went there with two car full of stuff and came back with just 2 suitcases

Katja's mum came yesterday with her friend and today we decided to get a bit of colour on our skins so we went to Los Cristianos beach.





I got a bit bored of just lying on my towel so I decided to get Dave's crossword puzzles out.

Today we've been to a garden centre to try to find some plants that Katja's cats wouldn't destroy.











There was a nice Christmas display there

Later in the evening we went to a beach bar. The photos are a bit too dark as it was already 10pm when we were there.

Today we decided to drive over Teide to show Katja's mum's friend what it was like over there.

In Tenerife farming fields are stepped like on this photo.




This picture was taken by a café in Vila Flor which is the highest village in Spain.

This is where they have filmed for example Star Wars, Planet of the Apes and this summer they were filming the Clash of the Titans here as well.

On our way down we tried to find some big cones but couldn't find that many.
