On the road in MN and WI, USA - 29th July 2013
By: sannah
Hi there!
We are on our way to another place that neither sannah nor Nils or me have visited before: Chicago!
But it really was a looong road trip until we got there and we passed a lot of farms in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
All the best,
Michel

Lake Michigan, Evanston IL, USA - 29th July 2013
By: sannah
Hi there!
We are staying in a hotel in a suburb of Chicago. But before going to bed, we wanted to go to the shore of Lake Michigan. And so we did, we were even lucky enough to catch some twilight mood.
All the best,
Michel

at Zumbro River, USA - 3rd August 2013
By: sannah
Hi there!
We are back home in sannah’s new apartment. The view is great since it is located directly at the Zumbro River. I like to hang out in the "green bay".
Lots of ducks and even geese like to bath their feet here. And look, there is somebody fishing!
I like enjoy looking at out the window – there’s always something new to discover at Zumbro River .
In less than two weeks, we are going (back) to Germany.
Looking forward to meeting you again, Mom!

Halle (Saale), Germany - 19th August 2013
By: sannah
Hi there!
We have traveled far in the past days – from the US to Germany where sannah visits friends and her family.
Though the weather was not that nice, sannah took me sightseeing to her former university city: Halle at the river Saale. A few months ago, the city hit national news because of a severe flooding.
We started at the Market Square. The main church Unser Lieben Frauen has four towers! sannah told me that until the 16th century, there were two churches with two towers each. But they were torn down except for the towers and a new church was built in between.
This nice and old looking building with the cute little tower is the Stadthaus – a city house, but not the city hall. (The city hall actually is the gray concrete block above my head.) A little more than one and a half year ago, sannah got married in the Stadthaus, she told me.
Oh, this monument of the world famous composer G. F. Händel is a popular meeting point on the market square. Händel was born in Halle and his monument faces west towards London where he died.
North of Halle’s Old Town in the Mühlwegviertel sannah lived before moving to the United States – not in this street, but in a very similar looking one.
We then went back to the University Square. But before seeing the beautifully restored historic university buildings, something else caught my eye: A column wayside shrine at the Universitätsring!
But now, the University Square – this is the Melanchthonanium.
Here I posed with one of the two lions in front of the entrance to the Löwengebäude which means lion buiding in German. Both buildings serve mostly official and representative purposes.
In this building called Robertinum, sannah took classes in classics (history of the Roman Empire).
It was nice to get to know all these places! But I am looking forward to seeing you again soon, too!
All the best,
Michel
