Madame Tussauds, Berlin, Germany - 25th March 2011
By: BlackCat
Hey,
today we met some famous persons. I was so excited. Fabi said we will go to Madame Tussauds and that there are a lot famous persons. We weren’t able to make much photos, as it was so crowded there, but we made two group pictures.
Here we go.
First we met Anne Frank. Her diary of the Second World War was published. Every child here in Germany reads it in school, normally. Did you read the book?
Later Fabi said she will be a politician now. We were all excited and asked to join her. So she allowed us and we did. We had a speech with Angela Merkel, the chancellor of Germany.
It was really great there. I really wish I could have seen more.
Love,
Bombus

Berlin Cathedral, Berlin, Germany - 25th March 2011
By: BlackCat
Hey,
This photo is from the Berlin cathedral. The Berlin Cathedral had never been a cathedral in the actual sense of that term since it has never been the seat of a bishop.
Right from it you can see the “Alex”. The television tower of Berlin.
That was a long walk and a long day was over then. We were all tired when we came back to the hotel. So we slept really fast.
Love,
Bombus

Berlin, Germany - 26th March 2011
By: BlackCat
Hey,
So this is the last update for our Berlin holidays. Fabi bought some souvenirs today which she wanted to share with you. You know in Berlin they have a Ritter Sport chocolate shop. Fabi was in there and got all crazy. She bought a 2kg “surprise” bag with a mix of chocolate inside. And now we want to share with you what was inside the 2kg bag.
And no: She doesn’t keep it all for herself. Some of the chocolate will be send away to friends and others will be eaten by her brother or her boyfriend. So she won’t eat 2kg of chocolate all alone.
So that was our Berlin holidays. I hope you like the pictures and enjoyed it as much as I did.
Love,
Bombus

Tallinn, Estonia - 3rd July 2011
By: minnihiiru
Hi mommy,
it was a really warm and sunny day, temperature was maybe 30 degrees !So really hot and we went to see Youth-Song and Dance festival 2011 in Tallinn, though we only saw songfestival It is really important event and Mari couldn't want to miss it !
It took place in open air, in the territory of Tallinn Song Festival Grounds.
It was almost a 6-hour long concert with different choirs and orchestras performing. The songs and music take the most powerful form when joint choirs start performing.
Song and Dance Celebration, the Estonian says. This is almost a sacred notion. It stands for the true birthday of Song and Dance, a great spiritual feast, a tradition not to be missed.
This is the festive reunion of an ancient folk, gathering from the cities as well as from the countryside;
small as a nation, but impressively large as a family.
Song and Dance Celebration is a true Estonian holiday, the Holy Day of the Heart;
which has been waited for, adorned for;
this is a brief moment of ecstatic togetherness, rising almost into the air in a mythical ship of joy and hope
a ship that has proved to be capable of carrying one nation over the most dangerous, most difficult rocks of time.
/Doris Kareva/
The Song Celebration tradition started in the middle of the 19th century and it has survived all of the twists and turns in Estonia’ s history.
and it still lasts and the next whole nation songfestival is in year 2014 The young songfestival means people till 26 years old.
Estonia and Song and Dance Celebration – these two belong together like Norway and skiing or England and the Oxford-Cambridge boat race.
I was proud to be there, around the people,Estonian flags,LOTS of people, singing and the feelings there..
we hardly had time to take photos ..

Rakvere, Estonia - 24th September 2011
By: minnihiiru
Mari got free long weekend and we all decided to take a trip to Estonia to Mari's home,as we were already missing it and it was perfect time to do it.
As before leaving we did not have the moment to do sightseeing there,we decided to do it this time. The colourful autumn was already there,we rode by bike to see "main " turist attractions and a bit nature.
Though was tooo windy,we couln't ride through one forest we first planned, but maybe next time.
some old houses from the oldest street in Rakvere
try to find me...
and with my friend Brinda
its highest place in Rakvere,in winter children go sledging here, but now it was only green and there were no people at all.
Look far and you see castle!
that's Rakvere's laululava or means like singing ground or something here are often concerts in summer and also punksongfestival was held here
Rakvere's castle which was built in Middle Age,destroyed with wars and sometime restored
view over the roofs
castle from other side
it is sculpture Tarvas.
Tarvas statue is an auroch, which was made by the Estonian sculptor Tauno Kangro. It is thought to be the largest animal statue in the Baltic countries.
It is situated on the edge of Vallimägi hill and was erected for the town's 700th birthday. Along with the granite block it sits on, the statue is seven meters long, four meters high and weighs about seven tons.
The statue is made out of bronze. The names of the companies and private people who financed it are engraved in the granite block.
and it is famous for all tourists who visit Rakvere
