Hi again!
Today was a relaxed day. I went out with my host to run some errands.


First I checked the mailbox to see if my host got any mail.
Thats when she remembered she needed to buy stamps.

Hello!
Today we had to go to the store.
It was a very pretty day today, and I enjoyed the car ride.








In the background are signs for the election of U.S. Senators, like John McCain.

When we returned home, I decided to look through some books I found in the bookcase.

I've just arrived at my new host's house. My host will take some photos soon - I arrived just in time for lunch! Oops - my host's camera batteries were flat

Hi Mummy,

Today, we have come to the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog. We are going on a train to Blaenau Ffestiniog and then will come back to Porthmadog.

We are travelling first class, though I have to share a seat with Dusel, Mira, alfie langer, and dotdog

We arrived in Blaenau Ffestiniog and my host took me to see the engine. On route, I wanted to rest for a minute.

There's our nice engine, and it has to go to the other end of the train.

We popped into the shop. Do I like Thomas the Tank Engine?

Look at the raindrops on the window.

It is a bit grey out there.

We cross a level crossing. Choo choo....

Back in Porthmadog, look at that big cloud.

It is sunny in Porthmadog but those clouds over there perhaps are full of rain.

The engine has to do some shunting. No more trains leave Porthmadog today.

Hi Mummy,
Today, we went to Caernarfon Castle. The Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

See the dais there, that was where Prince Charles received the crown to become the Prince of Wales

We climbed up many stairs, including spiral staircases to get here (and to the top of towers).

We've come round to the other side.

Hello mummy,
Today we jumped on some buses as we took my host's relative back to the station. We went on to the Isle of Anglesey to a well-known but not well-said village - Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

We are 4241 miles from Miami, 3262 miles from New York....

There is a station. The sign gives an approximate pronunciation of the name.

After lunch in nearby Menai Bridge, we walked across the Menai Bridge which spans the Menai Straits.

There is a second bridge, the Britannia Bridge which also crosses the Straits.

On Menai Bridge, someone has placed a GeoCache. My host had previously found it one lunchtime and was on the verge of giving up....

We then got to the "mainland" to wait for the bus to take us into Bangor and then for another bus on home.

Today, we have come to see Bryn Celli Ddu. This started out as a henge but was covered to become a burial mound with a chamber. It dates back to the Neolithic period.

Below is the entrance.

I think we can squeeze through that gap.

Today was a happy and sad day. Orpheus arrived but dotdog was leaving.

Today, we had a GeoCaching day, in and around the Snowdonian village of Llanberis.

First off, was a walk around Coed Doctor, a community woodland.

The first cache was easy to find.

The second was easy to find but hard to get to - my host's son was put on to my host's husband's shoulders to retrieve the cache.

And the third cache here was near the lake.

The next cache was high up in the hills.

The cache is in the Snowdon View series.

Snowdon is visible in this picture.

Today, we have come to Barclodiad-Y-Gawres, a Neolithic chambered cairn. It was a public grave for the local farming community.

It is situated on the Anglesey coast.

Hi Mummy,
Today, we have come back to Anglesey, to Din Lligwy. There is a Neolithic burial chamber constructed before 3000 B.C. Also, there is a Roman-British settlement of stone buildings, and the ruins of a medieval chapel.

The chapel was built in the 12th century with some rebuilding in the 14th century and an extension in the 16th century.

There was a bell.

You can see some of the North Anglesey coast.
We have come to the settlement. The site was excavated in the early 20th century, finding various things from the 3rd and 4th century including animal bones with some made into tools and even a musical instrument.

There were a few buildings in this settlement,

including a workshop

My host took this photo from outside the "building".

A closer look at us.

This is the burial chamber, constructed before 3000 B.C., and was excavated in the early 20th century after the settlement. The capstone weighs 25 tons.

It is a big slab!

My host's son was able to go underneath the capstone.

Today, we have come to the historic town of Harlech where a castle stands atop a hill.

The view, had the weather and sky been nicer, would have been superb.

The information board informs us that the castle was built between 1283 and 1289.

Somewhere over there in the murk, is Criccieth. There is castle on top of a hill. On a clear day, it can be seen.

There is an exhibition in the main section.

Looks impressive on top of the hill. Can't have been easy to build.

Hello Mummy,
Today, we've come to Trefnignath burial chamber near Holyhead.

This monument was erected in the Neolithic Age.

There it is. It is near the A55.

We could walk into the chamber.

That is Anglesey Aluminium, which is on the other side of the A55.

After visiting the burial chamber, we went to look at the Hut Circles on Holyhead Mountain.

The remains of these round-houses were excavated in 1860s and 1970s. They date from the Iron Age to post Roman times.




My host's camera was broken so she used the camera in her mobile phone and listed the help of her husband!


We came across this fungus, it is huge.
