Moscow, Russia - 5th December 2010
By: TaisAfinskaia
On Sunday we visited the museum of Vera Mukhina. She was Soviet sculptor who is famous for the sculpture of Worker and Kolkhoz Woman:.
Quote: | Worker and Kolkhoz Woman is a 24.5 meter (78 feet) high sculpture made from stainless steel by Vera Mukhina for the 1937 World's Fair in Paris, and subsequently moved to Moscow. The sculpture is an example of the socialist realistic style, as well as Art Deco style. The worker holds aloft a hammer and the kolkhoz woman a sickle to form the hammer and sickle symbol. |
Her museum is situated inside the pedestal on which the great sculpture is placed.
The sculpture was originally created to crown the Soviet pavilion (architect: Boris Iofan) of the World's Fair.
In the museum we saw some symbols of Soviet Union - for example placard of one of the most popular Soviet film.

Moscow, Russia - 6th February 2011
By: TaisAfinskaia
Hi mom!
Have not heard from us for ages?
We were having rest from our Christmas parties
Now we were active again!
On Sunday we were at Vorobyovy Gory! The station is nice and we saw some pieces of art at the metro station! you can hardly recognize art at our photo but believe us.
Then we went went to the park and made what we should do much earlier - we made a snowman!!! Because it could be shame - were in Russia and didn`t play with snow.
At the end of our walk we made a photo with Moscow State University:
Quote: | Lomonosov Moscow State University , previously known as Lomonosov University or MSU , is number one and the largest university in Russia. Founded in 1755, it also claims to be the oldest university in Russia and to have the tallest educational building in the world. |
Hugs!

Hello mum!
When Maria is writing these words, we are traveling to Singapore. We were sent just today and had no time to upload our Kremlin photos!
Weather was grey and rainy, but it didn`t stop us in making fun and enjoy our last Russian adventure
