Travelog for: Sheldon el Lion

Kissimmee, Florida, USA - 2nd April 2010

By: Sheldon's Mommy

Hello! My name is Sheldon, and I have been asking my mommy if I could travel for a long time. Yesterday she said that I could, but only if I can find trustworthy people to let me stay with them. I want to travel so badly and see the world, so are there any trustworthy people who will let me come visit them?

I am very small, and will fit in the palm of your hand. I won't take up much room, and if you let me stay with you I will keep my roaring down to a minimum. I do have a small passport (it is my size) that I would like to be stamped by the post office where you live, for "legal" reasons, and I hope that is not a problem.
I will have a blog that we can put pictures in of my travels, and also write little letters to my mommy because she will worry about me. I have a list of things that I would like to do, and get photos of, but if you have something for me that is not already on my list I will gladly come and experience it. (My mommy wouldn't let me put everything that I want to do on my list because it would be way too long and she would never see me again)

Please let me know if I can come stay with you!
Love always, Sheldon the Lion

Watch fireworks from a roof

Have my passport stamped by 20 different places

:o

My Mommy says that I have to follow a couple of rules.
1. I can only stay with you for three weeks.
2. I have to tell my Mommy when I arrive at a place, update my travel log whenever I can, and also tell her when I leave ('cause she worries about me)
3. I have to be really careful with my left front paw, because I had surgery on it, and it is still
4. I have to try and get my passport stamped by the post office everywhere I go, but I am not allowed to complain if it can't be done.
5. I will have lots of fun, and not worry so much about my list. Mommy says "Sheldon, I don't want you to be rude. Your list are just suggestions of things you want to do, they are not mandatory requirements."

Kalisz, Poland - 12th May 2010

By: Just-in

Hi! I've already arrived in Kalisz, Poland. I was a bit tired, so I had some rest with the guys I met. Seems that my host likes wild animals, I met a hippo (the sleepy guy) and the giraffe. I wonder, how many other animals live here?  Anyway, now, I'd like to see something outside the apartment! See you later!

Kalisz, Poland - 20th May 2010

By: Just-in

Hi! Just wanted to say, I'm having good time here, in Poland. Although, Poland isn't the best place to visit right now. There's flood in many towns and citis, I've seen it on TV. My host is ill now, so we don't go out that ofetn, but I still managed to see some inetersting places. And I've been to a very old church (not the one that you can see now, I'll show you the photos of that curch a bit later :)). In those pictures you can see me playing in the park - I played hide and seek on the tree and chased a squirrel. I saw the Prosna river as well, and a famous theater in Kalisz. Oh, and I tased some sweets produced here. Yummy!
My host got interested in geocaching as well so I helped her find the first cache. It was really exciting! You can see me with the logbook. I also saw the town hall and visited the post office. I know, I'll have to leave Kalisz soon, but before I do, I'd like to see something more as well!
See you later!

6. Me and the cathedral - the oldest church in Kalisz (I was inside as well!)

8. Adam Asnyk's high school.

Eväjärvi, Finland - 16th June 2010

By: Dizabella

Hi! I arrived to Finland on June 11th, but I've been spending quite quiet life here for now... The reason is simply the horrible weather! My host Teea is supposed to take me rowing a boat, but it has been rainy and windy and cold... Teea says it's just like a normal June in Finland. I doubt it, the temperature of 15 degrees Celsius seems quite cold for the summer...

Anyways, Teea is just waiting for the better weather to come. And today we will go shopping to IKEA to Tampere! In Finland most of the people speak Finnish or Swedish, so it will be quite exciting! Luckily Teea promised to translate everything I need into English.

Before that I'm going to tell you something about my first few days in Finland.

On June 11th I came here, Teea was very happy when she got me here! We went to Teea's working place for the first night. She had to sleep there because the owners of that place weren't home and there had to be someone (it's a kind of parking place and hostel, so Teea would have had to book people in if someone had came).

Teea read Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer in Finnish (which made me laugh a bit). Teea explained she just wanted to know if the book still was as horrible as when Teea read it in English. She said it was, but I think she kinda liked it.

Teea also wrote her diary for her postcrossing diary swap. She took some photos of me, too, to put them here and to the diary. I read some parts of her diary and watched the photos there.

In the evening I wanted to write and send a post card to my mum, so we wrote it together and decorated the pumpkin stamp.

then there were some really, REALLY quiet days, because Teea had to go to work to the old-age home. She was so tired after her work... Today she has a day off from work, and we ere supposed to do some funny things outdoors. The weather just is so terrible...

We played Carcassonne and Solitaire together. I can gladly tell you that I won her in Carcassonne with points 109 - 85. :D

Enjoy the photos! I'll continue my adventure in Finland soon :D

Newbridge, Ireland - 27th August 2010

By: empress_of_night

Today Peigí said she will take me to her old secondary school which is soooo old, as well as the popular local shopping centre! And we're going to get a picture of me outside her work in her local Irish paper!

I'm excited about seeing the old school, it has a big clock tower and looks like something out of Harry Potter, Peigí said! I had fun in Dublin yesterday, we went to one of the old popular pubs, The Cobblestone. Peigí told me about the bookshelf there- you take any book you want and when you come back, you put one of your own back!

We went to the Indie/Arthouse Cinema yester and saw The Illusionist, it was really good, and I had some chocolate!

Peigí's dad is a musician in a band called the Chieftains and he said I was a very nice lion and played some Traditional (Trad) Irish music for me in the car. Peigí had to make sure I kept my belt on.

I'm going out to the school now! Bye Mommy, I'm having good fun. I'll write again soon! xxx

Newbridge Town, Ireland - 27th August 2010

By: empress_of_night

O what a busy morning for me! Peigí took me all around her hometown, and we got lots of pictures!
We got one outside her workplace, the Kildare Nationalist Paper, outside the big shoppingcentre- WhiteWater, we had a GIANT cupcake in Kerry's Cupcakes (mmm, with edible glitter!), went to the park and I tried to learn the Irish for "Protector" (Cosantóir).
Then we went to her old school, and we met her old Business teacher, and we took pictures of the lovely river, it was all sparkly in the sunshine!

Peigí had a good idea to get a stamp and picture with one of the police in Ireland (The Gardaí) but the Bean Garda (Policewoman) was very mean and told Peigí not to be wasting her time.  :(
So Peigí promised me that she'd try in a police station in Dublin next week, after she registers for another college year!

I'm having a good time now in her work office, she gave me some of her chicken sandwich and its yum!

Talk to you all soon, I think Peigí has a surprise in store for me tonight, we'll have to just see! :D

Newbridge, Ireland - 30th August 2010

By: empress_of_night

Hi Mommy!

I had a very good weekend although the weather was awful. I went to the playground with Peigí's partner and his kids, we had good fun! His little girl loved me and was cuddling me all the time and she gave me a Polo, but I didn't like it much. =(

I got my picture taken with her partner's tattoo gun, it's really cool because it was made specially for him! They didn't put a needle in it though, I was a bit worried about it when I saw the size of it! The tattoo gun looks like a real gun, it was a bit scary at first but Peigí showed me how to hold it and Darren took my picture. =) I'm getting my ear pierced today too, I'm really excited, I don't think I'll get as many as Peigí though, I'd have no plain skin left!

I may be getting a little tattoo as well!

I wonder how you'll react when you see me when I return home Mommy.

Tomorrow I am going on the train with Peigí into Dublin again, we're going to see her college. I'm quite excited about this, and I can see more of Dublin on foot.

At the moment Peigí is writing up a project for college and I am sitting on top of the compuet making faces at her heehee!

I'll talk to you soon Mommy. Bye!

Newbridge, Ireland - 13th September 2010

By: empress_of_night

Hi Mommy!!
I'm sorry I took so long to write again, I've been very busy!

I've been helping Peigí set up her own newspaper and tattoo studio. I got my ear pierced too! It didn't hurt at all. I've made really really good friends with Peigí's cat Slinky, she even let me snooze on her tail. Her other cat caught a mouse last night but i didn't get to eat any because Boots ate it all up!

Peigí is a bit sad because it's her last day in the office before she as to go back to college. I can't wait to get good pictures in Dublin, the last time we tried, the weather was awful.

I might be having a lovely bubble bath soon, I'm excited, I can't wait to leap into all the bubbles! I think they'll tickle.

Mommy, I saw something cool yesterday, I saw Peigí getting a new tattoo! It looked so strange but I kept watching. It took just an hour and a half, it's really pretty. I wish I could get one. Peigí's hinted I may get one before my time here is done!

I got to see what Irish weather is really like on Saturday, we went for a walk to the shops and suddenly we were being blown this way and that! No wonder Ireland is so green!

Peigí read me some of an Irish play as Gaeilge (that means, in Irish, in Irish haha), It sounded very strange, I thought she was sneezing a lot!

She taught me how to say my name, you write it Sheldon is ainm dom, and you say it Sheldon iss an-im dum. Conas atá tú is how are you! Cun-iss ah-taw thoo.

I'll soon be fluent!

I'll write again soon Mommy, I promise I won't leave it so long again.
Bye!
