Paris, France - 14th March 2010

By: TaisAfinskaia

The next day I met Maria we moved to Russia - my new country of living!

Waiting for the flight we spent much time in the airport Charles de Gaulle:

Quote:
Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (IATA: CDG, ICAO: LFPG) ,also known as Roissy Airport (or just Roissy in French), in the Paris area, is one of the world's principal aviation centres, as well as France's main airport. It is named after Charles de Gaulle (1890–1970), leader of the Free French Forces and founder of the French Fifth Republic. It is located within portions of several communes, 25 km (16 mi) to the north-east of Paris. The airport serves as the principal hub for Air France.

In 2009, the airport handled 57,884,954 passengers and 525,314 aircraft movements, making it the world's ninth busiest airport in terms of passengers and Europe's busiest (world's seventh busiest) airport in terms of aircraft movements. In terms of cargo traffic, the airport is the tenth busiest in the world, having handled 1,818,503 metric tonnes of cargo. Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport is also Europe's largest airport by size.

I took all my stuff with me and it was too much for little bear! But,man, I move to another country!

Waiting in the airport was so boring and long that I decided to have a tea and cookies! I love cookies :) And breakfast is my favourite meal :)

50 km from Moscow, Russia - 5th June 2010

By: TaisAfinskaia

Privet everyone!
Have I told you that I love to spend my week-ends in the country-side? Maria`s family has small house near Moscow where you can have a rest, forget about crowds, cars and noise.
I wish I could invite there all my friends! Last week Minidog was my guest. We drink a bit of tea and eat some sweets.

When I was in the country-side I visited shop of wood furniture. I dream of such sofa-swing! And on the table you can see special tableware coloured in Gzhel (a brand of Russian ceramics, painted with blue on white).
If you wonder where I found a mammoth - don`t worry, it is just a decoration of table!

It is cool in village, but I have to gome home.

Kiev, Ukraine - 12th June 2010

By: TaisAfinskaia

I`m on the main street in Kiev. It was blocked for cars, so we could walk through it.

Quote:
Khreshchatyk  is the main street of Kiev, Ukraine. The name is derived from the Slavic word krest or khrest (cross). It lies in a valley that is crossed by several ravines. When looked at from above, the valley resembles a cross.

The entire street was completely destroyed during World War II by the retreating Red Army and rebuilt in the neo-classical style of post-war Stalinist architecture. The street has been significantly renovated during the modern period of Ukraine's independence. Today, the street is the administrative and business center of the city, as well as a popular place for Kievans.

Kiev, Russia - 13th June 2010

By: TaisAfinskaia

Privet guys!
This s my last day in Kiev!
First I had a breakfast and after that I went up by railway funicular to see some sights.
It was really nice there! I visited famous street Andriyivskyy Descent and Saint Andrew's Church.

Quote:
The Andriyivskyy Descent begins on the summit of the Starokyivska Hora (Old Kiev mountain) near the ornate late-baroque Saint Andrew's Church (which gave the street its current name). The street continues on down and descends to the Podil district were it ends at the Kontraktova Square. In the past times, the descent was known as Borychiv Descent mentioned as Borichev uvoz by Nestor the Chronicler in his Primary Chronicle and in the 12th century poem, The Tale of Igor's Campaign (Slovo o polku Ihorevim). The descent's current name is derived from the 18th century, at the time when the Saint Andrew's Church was erected atop the hill.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, the street was mainly inhabited by merchants and craftspeople.Although they are long gone due to the sweeping demographic changes in Kiev during times of the late Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, the street is once again thriving thanks to its unique topology, architecture, rich history and also many gift shops and small art galleries showcasing various paintings and sculptures by Ukrainian artists. The descent is one of the favorite spots for Kievans and tourists alike. It is also notable for the many festivals it holds, including various art festivals and the Kiev Day celebrations on the last weekend of May.

The street's location in the city and its landmark attraction has made it lately a highly prestigious area, with several new luxurious restaurants. However, the descent's sewer and water systems have not been changed within the past 100 years, thereby underlining the need for a new system to be installed. Although, city authorities have not yet scheduled a new sewer project system to be installed.

I`m coming home!

Mioche.

Moscow, Russia - 28th June 2010

By: TaisAfinskaia

Today Maria and I was at her Spanish courses. The building is situated at Mokhovaya Street. Near Kremlin!

Quote:
Mokhovaya Street is a one-way street in central Moscow, Russia, a part of Moscow's innermost ring road - Central Squares of Moscow. In 1961-1990 it formed part of Karl Marx Avenue. The street runs from the Borovitskaya Square (named after nearby Borovitskaya Tower) in the south past Vozdvizhenka Street, Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street and Manege Square, ending at Tverskaya Street in the north.

Traffic on Mokhovaya follows a northwards counterclockwise pattern as the parallel Manege Street is closed to regular traffic.

The third photo shows you the main Moscow library - Lenin`s Library.
And the last one is view from the old building where Maria studies.
