Travelog for: Levi

At my own home, Finland - 20th December 2010

By: snufkin

Hello all ToyVoyagers! I am a cow called Levi from Finland. I am 2 years old and I would really like to get friends all over the world!

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/levii.jpg

This is my 'official' Christmas-picture! Wow, I really like the lights! Especially the colorful lights..

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/akulevi-2.jpg

This is me and my cousin, Aku (created by pippuri). He is my best cousin! Right now we are living in the same house, but I think we'll go to different countries soon.. I'm gonna miss him so much!

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/levipuu-2.jpg
This is me with our Christmas tree! Where will I be in Christmas Eve? At home or in some other country? Anyways, I hope that it will be a nice place!

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/akulevilumes-2.jpg
Then we went to play with snow! Hrrrr, it was so cold but funny!

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/sauna.jpg
After playing in snow, we had to go to sauna because snow was so cold and sauna warmed us.

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/sauna2-1.jpg
The elf of the sauna offered me some kind of mint tea. It was little bit strange, but maybe elfs like that kind of drinks!

http://i884.photobucket.com/albums/ac47/foggyy/sauna3.jpg
Then Aku decided to meet sauna heater! I was so worried about him, because sauna heater is very, very hot place. I yelled at him that he must NOT go there! Fortunately he complied with my request and survived.. He is sometimes a little reckless lion! ...but still my friend :)

I hope I get a host soon! And I hope that Aku gets his host too, because I don't want to leave him alone :)

Best wishes!
Levi

Hey :)!

Today we celebrated New Years Eve with fondue. It was a lot of fun. And when the countdown came, Fabis batteries were empty and we had no chance to make pictures. Sorry.

Essen, Germany - 10th January 2011

By: BlackCat

Hey :),

today we had a walk at the river Ruhr. The Ruhr has flood at the moment and it is really high. The watergate is all open (which it is usually not) and there is a lot water coming out. We stand there and watched it and got wet...because of all the water.

We made some nice photos of us at the Ruhr and at the watergate. Hope you enjoy them.

Hattingen, Germany - 12th January 2011

By: BlackCat

Hey :)!

Today we went to see some industry. We saw the Henrichshütte in Hattingen. We didn't make a lot photos. Just one, to be true, as we were there by car and weren't able to go in as it was closed already (it was too late when we got there). Hope you still like it.

Heyho,

today we went to the river Ruhr again and had a long walk from there. I will show you all the photos of the whole day. It was such a long day.

The ruhr was still flooded. You can see it on the picture. Under the bridge is normally no water. Do you see the water that is there now?

After the walk there, we went to Heisingen (a district of Essen) and Fabi showed us a nice church.

After that we went up to the Korte Klippe. It is a place above the Lake Baldeney and we had a wonderful view from there. Have a look at the pictures. I loved it.

today we ate cake with Fabi and her boyfriend. I was allowed to cut it and then Gaspode tried the cake. You can see a piece of me lying in the background as I was full already.

Remscheid, Germany - 5th February 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
I arrived in Remscheid today! Although it was a short trip I had to stay at the post office for one night. As it was very quiet there, it was ok for me.

ThreeToyVoyagers and my new host Katja gave me a warm welcome. There are Squirt, Herlinde and Fimbo_Fimble.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5138/5418240594_c1358fae4d_o.jpg

I brought a present for Katja with me, a bar of delicious chocolate.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5258/5418240640_91f2d03cfb_o.jpg

Katja said we would taste it later when we'd have coffee.

Bye for now

Hi Mummy,
today we tasted the chocolate I brought with me from Essen.

It was filled with sherbet powder - eating the chocolate felt like explosions in my mouth!

Remscheid, Germany - 7th February 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
we took a walk today to the municipal park. We did not have to walk long to get there.

My current home is in a district with nice old houses. We walked along a playground.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5425409142_23d97591a9_o.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5425409278_62a72f4e5a_o.jpg

Soon we reached the park.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5252/5424808667_288893060d_o.jpg

You can find an observatory in the park.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5180/5425409584_7e8e8cc9d9_o.jpg

Parts of the park were created like a forest, but you also have open meadows to relax in the sun, in summer at least.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5219/5424808987_1aab4172d1_o.jpg

Katja showed me a memorial which is dedicated to the dead of several wars before WW I.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5299/5425409958_fdfe781a04_o.jpg

There are also allotment gardens in the park. You have a great overview across the valley to the outskirts of Remscheid and the neighbour city Wuppertal.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5251/5425410114_0d69760638_o.jpg

We walked through the park downhill to the district Hasten, one of the oldest districts in the municipal area of Remscheid. Here we walked along an alley which is called "Trasse des Werkzeugs" (Route of Tools), it was built on a closed railway track for pedestrians and cyclists.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5060/5425410394_c14176fc33_o.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5425410586_b1a3f2202e_o.jpg

Nearly all streets are steep here, as the city centre of  Remscheid is situated on a hill. We had to walk uphill here to reach the street again, can you see how steep it is?

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5213/5424810007_3564798118_o.jpg

Remscheid is an old industrial town, tools are produced here sind middle ages. You can often find old factory buildings close to dwellings.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5259/5425410930_0b6474ecc2_o.jpg

We were almost home than. Katja showed me the local court on the opposite side of this intersection.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5054/5424810253_7f34f78fb2_o.jpg

I am living in this street with its lovely old houses at the moment.

Remscheid, Germany - 8th February 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
in Katja's lunch break we took a short walk in the city centre today.

Here you can see the city hall, hidden under a scaffolding. It's tower is 48 m high, visible from far away.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4109/5431108265_aaaf193e94_o.jpg

We went through the shopping street, here you can see the main entrance of the shopping mall.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5011/5431108331_0755de23ea_o.jpg

This is the public library.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5137/5431716460_4f95e3bfd4_o.jpg

Fron the library you can see the theatre on the left side, the tower of the city hall in the background and the shopping mall.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4113/5431108469_b1603e4119_o.jpg

An art gallery is situated in the house which is covered with slate.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/5431716654_487180e1ae_o.jpg

We went to the shopping mall to get something for lunch.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/5431108789_efdbc6f06f_o.jpg

There is a large place in front of the city hall, a farmers market is helt here twice a week. On this place you can see this pillar with a lion, the heraldic animal of Remscheid.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5217/5431108855_57121035cc_o.jpg

Than we had to go back to work!

Bye
Levi

Remscheid, Germany - 9th February 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
two new ToyVoyagers arrived today, Fiona and Clifford.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5218/5431719758_22d6cba883_o.jpg

As the weather was fantastic we took a long walk in the afternoon.

Katja loves to walk in the forests, so we walked out of the city centre towards one of the surrounding valleys. We had to walk downhill for some time because the city centre of Remscheid is situated on a hill. We saw a sports ground on our way, here usually soccer is played.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5297/5431717082_18f7bb1464_o.jpg

Katja showed us this beautiful Patrician villa, built in the late 1780 years. It once was the house of a rich factory owner, nowadays a museum is situated in this lovely building.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5431717176_e7555fc46d_o.jpg

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/5431717262_a906e71686_o.jpg

Here I saw that Remscheid is surrounded by valleys and forests. In the background you can see the outskirts of the neighbour city Wuppertal.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4146/5431717320_b401e09d1f_o.jpg

We nearly reached the bottom of the valley.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4076/5431109299_786d72239a_o.jpg

Here you can see typical houses of this region. You can find many half-timbered houses or those which are covered with slate. Also typical are those green shutters.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/5431717492_8c6c593b55_o.jpg

Remscheid is an old industrial town, about 780 years old. Tools are produced here since middle ages. Here you can see one of the old factory buildings, you can often find them close to housing areas.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5171/5431109461_cc9251afd8_o.jpg

This is the bottom of the valley, on the right side of the street there is a creek flowing, it is marking the border between Remscheid and Wuppertal.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4128/5431109555_3a687bb102_o.jpg

Katja told us that than we had to walk uphill again. On this slope of the valley we walked through a forest.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5213/5431717762_3cff87debf_o.jpg

We walked through a small hamlet than, here I also saw nice old houses.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5173/5431717838_99455dabd3_o.jpg

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5297/5431109835_892c597e5e_o.jpg

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4143/5431109933_aa0686dee1_o.jpg

We walked through a rural district than, with large meadows. Can you see the two towers in the background? This is the city centre with the tower of the city hall and a water tower. We started our trip there and will have to walk back there.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5016/5431718104_afc084dbf9_o.jpg

What a lovely spot with so many animals.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4092/5431718196_aa728954cc_o.jpg

This really was an exhausting trip.

Greetings from
Levi

Remscheid, Germany - 13th February 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today we planned to take a walk with Katja's friend and her dog. She is living in another district of Remscheid, we had to get there by bus. On our way to the bus I saw a little bit more of the vicinity of my current home.

Katja told us that the city centre of Remscheid was nearly destroyed in WW II, but the part where we are living stayed nearly intact. So there are many nice old houses in our neighbourhood.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4102/5442191502_01988683fd_o.jpg

At the bus stop at the city hall we missed the bus only a few minutes, so it would take nearly half an hour before the next one will come, so we decided to walk a bit to another bus stop.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5292/5442191612_e195782f8e_o.jpg

We waited here for our bus. The ADAC is the German equivalent to Autoliitto in Finland.
