York, England - 4th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone.  I went into York with Leslee, Owen and their friend on Saturday but we were so busy I didn't get many photos.

The others went to a shop while us Toyvoyagers went with Leslee to the miniatures shop.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv.jpg
Leslee says that people even come from other countries hoping to come and shop in this shop.

Just behind the miniatures shop is the Merchent Adventurers House.  Leslee didn't know much about it but said it was the oldest building in York.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv006.jpg

We all went to a park afterwards and I liked the remote controlled boats best.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv69.jpg

Sorry we were having too much fun for many photos. :OD

York Base Camp, England - 5th June 2011

By: Leslee

Here is a quick lunch they like to make here.

They haven't got an oven!  Here is the space where the oven belongs.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0ph84.jpg
It is tricky but they manage.

They put butter on the wrong side of some bread and put baked beans in.  She said it is very difficult to find anything like baked beans in USA - she has been to the US twice and couldn't find anything like it there.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv090.jpg
This goes in the toastie maker for a few minutes
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/ph111.jpg
and comes out hot and yummy.

She made easy smoothies too.
There was only one yogurt pot left so she put it in a jug
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/10ph3.jpg
I poured some milk in
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1ph04.jpg
and then she whisked it all up and poured in into classes with straws.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1ph10.jpg

Very simple but I tried it and it hit the spot.

York, England - 6th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi again.  I want to tell you about today now.

Leslee was working from home today but had already done everything so we all went into the town while Owen was at school.

There is a Medieval wall that almost surrounds the old part of the city. There are four main 'bars' which are gaters to get inside and there are two smaller ones and in modern times there are other ways in now too.
This is one of Leslee's favourites ,in fact I must have gone under this 6 times already!
This is Monk Bar
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tod33.jpg
There is a really cool model shop right under one of the the arches
and here is a gateway up to the top[ of the walls which you can walk almost all the way round york on.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/135tod.jpg
Can you see me here.  I got up one step but I couldn't get much further!

This is St Williams College where we parked the bikes
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tod140.jpg
just behind York Minster (the second largest Gothich cathedral in Europe)
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/19tod0.jpg
Leslee says that this part has looked like this for a long time.  It is being restored.  The old eroded stones are being replaced regularly by newer ones that have been made in the original stoneyard very close by.
This is very new.  The Stone masons have a shed here now to work closer to the Minster and so that tourist can see how they do it.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/14tod9.jpg
Here is part of the Minster.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/153tod.jpg
Can you see the big round window?  It is called the Rose window.  It was destroyed in a fire when Leslee was a girl.  The Minster got hit by lightening but the damaged bits have been restored now.
(ps for this photo I am sitting on the base for a Roman pillar!)
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tod63.jpg
Constantine sits just outside the Minster's entrance so Blinchick and I went to tickle his toes a bit.  Karlie didn't want to because he has done this before and said that his Roman feet were smelly!

Here is the Lord Mayor's House.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/17tod8.jpg

We stopped for a rest and shared some Pom Bear chips
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/183tod.jpg

We found this cute Teddy bear shop but it was closed when we passed but everyone agreed that we should go back
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/17tod6.jpg

Bye for now, I hope everyone is well xx
(ps, Leslee says, do you have Pom Bear chips where you live?)

Stonegate Teddy Bears, England - 7th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone!
I have been enjoying watching Sam's updates with Leslee and Owen, they are brilliant.

I have so much to tell you guys that I'm just going to get on with it...

Tuesday morning was all about bikes and parcels.
I watched Leslee wrap some parcels.  The the postman came and brought Leslee a parcel from Finland with little toys in.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/004tv.jpg
Then we went out, to post parcels but also take bikes to the bike rescue centre.
Leslee's bike was broken and needed a new set off wheels.  Owen's bike got stolen last month.  The police found it at someone's house but it was very broken so she took both of the bikes to the center.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/015tv.jpg
They fixed Leslee's bike for free because she only just bought it from them this month and they kept the broken bike to use the parts for other bikes.

Then, all jobs done, we went back to that Teddy bear shop :OD
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/026tv.jpg
We all went in and met lots of bears, and then had coffe and bacon sandwich in their cafe.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/029tv-1.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/036tv.jpg
www.stonegateteddybears.co.uk

Do you remember last week I went to the pet shop for a bulb for Leslee and Owen's pets?
Well, the bulb wasn't the problem.  The lamp needed a new fuse so we bought one while we were out.
Here are the pets.
George and Shelly
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/066tv.jpg
In England, they only call the ones that live in the sea (but not near England) turtles,
they call the ones that live on land tortoises,
and these ones that live in fresh water are what they call terrapins.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/051tv.jpg
These terrapins are called yellow bellied sliders and they are both boys.
I can actually see then now that the bulb is fixed.

Bye
Phillip

National Railway Museum, England - 8th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi folks!

Wednesday was a busy day at work making pirate props.  I did more playing than I did making!
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/005tv.jpg

After work, Leslee had to go and get her bike back but it wasn't ready yet so we went to the National Railway Museum while we waited.
Here  I am next a train that I realy liked
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/020tv.jpg
It is called Aerolite

This is inside one of the engines.  It was so shiny.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/054tv.jpg
There were so many engines here, and models and carraiges.
The bike was finished and ready to be picked up very soon so we didn't get more time for photos.

Bye for now x

York Base Camp, England - 11th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone,

I am staying in today.  I am waiting for Owen to wake up.  Leslee says that if he doesn't get up in the next half an hour I can go and jump all over his bed to wake him.

The postman has been today and brought Mishuta.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/039.jpg
We didn't know that Mishuta was coming yet so it was a lovely suprise for us all.  He is so funny he is keeping us all entertained on this staying-in day.

Bye for now x
Phillip

York Base Camp, England - 12th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone, (everyone who isn't away at camp!)

This weekend was quite rainy here.  They didn't go out anywhere so I stayed in and made things with them and watched Leslee tidying.

This is a game board we all made.  Owen made the spaceship counters.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/087tv.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv49.jpg
I made the bead score keepers, well I passed over the shiny jewel beads...
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv58.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/066tv-1.jpg

Later I met lots of new friends in Leslee's room!
The Monchhichi and their friends
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv095.jpg

The Tiemis, Mom angel and her little devils
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/09tv9.jpg

the nyamys, though I only really met one because Nappy was sleeping
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tv19.jpg

These three were so friendly.  This is Sibyl, Zuzu and Felicia, all Russ Berrie friends.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tv13.jpg

It was nice to meet them all.
Leslee says that is someone else called Phillip here AND someone called Phillippe but I haven't met them yet.  Perhaps next time it is a rainy day.

Bye... got to go play with my new friends

work, England - 16th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone.  I had an adventure yesterday.

Every day, I travel in a little monster bag (Leslee says I can photograph that for you soon).  It is just the right size for 4 ToyVoyagers and it makes me feel safe.
We go to work every weekday in this bag, hoping that Leslee will get chance to take some photos to show you what I do there but of course, she can't take photos of the children and she is too busy (it is a good job I go there and help out!)

Well, Yesterday Leslee didn't take me to help with the 5,6 and 7 year olds!  No, I was with the 3,4 and 5 year olds in the nursery (kindergarten).  Leslee nearly didn't let me out of the bag here because she was so busy and worried about me but a little boy was feeling sad and she said that you and the kids would all probably want me to help him.
It worked.
He was so happy that eventually he went to play with another boy so I went to play with another little girl.  She liked me and we went and told Leslee that we were going to play together.

I got to have a ride in a dolls pram!  It was very comfy and I enjoyed having a rest.  The girl had lots of fun pushing me round and put other things in the pram for me to play with.

A bit later, it got a bit dark.  I couldn't see very much.  I was there for quite a long time and then I got hungry so I think it must have been lunchtime already.
It was ok because there were lots of things in the pram for me to play with but I did get bored eventually and I had a little sleep.

When I woke up it was all bright again, and there was Leslee.  She looked very happy to see me and she gave me an extra big hug.  Aparently, I had just had an afternoon nap in the outdoors toy cupboard.

http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/phillip.jpg
The next bit was the most fun part because I got to run around the school very fast while Leslee told everyone "it's ok, I found Phillip!
Then I helped her take down the posters she had put up with pictures of me on.
Such fun!

Leslee said that she didn't need my help in Nursery again because I was a bit too good at it.

Today was sports day and it was brilliant.  I wish I could show you photos of that.

(I am not sure why but Leslee wants me to make sure that you know she is taking great care of me.  She is!)

Bye, love from Phillip

York Base Camp, England - 19th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone.  I hope you are well.
I have enjoyed seeing Sam and Jellybean's updates and am glad everyone is well.  Gosh, two birthdays since I left!!!!

I sent you all a little parcel but I forgot to write my name on it.  I think It might arrive next week.

We have not been anywhere this week really.
But...
I did have fun with big Owen and the other ToyVoyagers.  He got Leslees mini photo studio out to make some monster photos and then he invited me over and took some photos of me in there.
I think I look cool in Owen's photo of me.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv28.jpg
I AM getting a bit fluffy these days!

I went to a party on the dolly shelf on Friday night
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/dolly.jpg
three of the dollys were not there because they are little babies.  Anyway, they stay on the rainbow shelves and Yewlee lesley's special tiny doly friend is still busy decorating her house.

Well I was pretty tired the next day so I am glad that we had an extra hour in bed.  Leslee's neighbour gave her a pile of magazines so we all had a good read.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/050tv.jpg

Saturday was spent making a gift for Leslee's dad.  It is a heavy door -stop in the shape of a camera because he spends all his free time out taking pohotos of the country side and sometimes magazines buy his photos.
We helped by eating rice pudding so that the empty pot could be used to make the middle of the camera lense.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/makingtv.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv070.jpg
Then we wrapped it up for him.  I hope he likes it.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/06tv2.jpg
I hope he shares the chocolate too.

I can't stay too long on here because I am going to a carboot sale soon and I have to let the other toy voyagers update before we go
xx
Bye  (I will tell you about the carboot sale later  xx)

Wigginton Carboot Sale, England - 19th June 2011

By: Leslee

  Hi

I went to the car boot sale.

A car boot is just the trunk of a car.  English people call it a boot.

At a car boot sale, a farmer opens his field and people pay to come in and sell their old things form the back of thier car.
There were lots of cars here but Leslee says there were usually much more.  Lots of people put blankets on the floor to put the things on that they were selling and most people had tables too.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/005tv-1.jpg

It started to rain so I finished my shopping quickly and didn't have time for more photos.

We went to Leslee's Dad's house, Owen's Grandma and Grandad.
Here I am at their house with a little friend that I found at the car boot sale.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv17.jpg
He is a mexican doll and he reminds Leslee of one of her friends so she is going to call him mini Pookie.

Later in the afternoon.  I went out into Leslee's garden.  There are 9 other people living in these flats that share this garden but most of them are quite old.
Leslee has a little bit that is just for her and she tries to keep the rest tidy too.

I liked this rose
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/10tv3.jpg

I helped to 'dead head' the Sea Pinks.  I thought it sounded like gruesome zombie fun but then I founf out that it was just cutting off the dead flowers.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/05tv4.jpg
I still thought it was fun though and I did all the pink ones and then all the white ones too.

http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tv11.jpg

I'm tired now
Bye for now.

York Base Camp, England - 25th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi all,

It has been fun here this week because it has been India week at school all week.
Dancing, music, cooking, tasting, stories, dressing up, drama, making...  It is a shame Leslee couldn't take photos for you to see at school but she said she is not allowed to use her own camera there during school hours.
The children did lots of dancing to the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack with decorated sticks that some Indian ladies in fancy clothes gave them.
The sticks were too big for me so I just jiggled to the music.

Today Leslee has been tidying!  Actually she has been doing that for the last few weeks.  It is even tidier here than it was when I arrived.  I think it must me my influence.
Any way, that's why we haven't been out yet this weekend.

We just had dinner which I helped to make.  I put the mint in.  One of the children at the school brought the mint from her Grandma's garden to give to Leslee.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv16.jpg
We were making root mash.  It is Leslee's favourite but she hasn't had it for a long time because she has no stove.  This is the new slow cooker she bought and it made the root mash very nicely.
In it is, carrots, sweet potato, potato, parsnip and cauliflower all mashed up with a little butter and seasoning.

I like the new bag Leslee has got us ToyVoyagers.  It is a little bigger which is great now there are four of us.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv030.jpg

Leslee says we might go out tomorrow depending on when a guest  leaves.

Bye!
Love from Phillip

York, England - 26th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi all,
I went out with Leslee and the other ToyVoyagers today.  Owen couldn't decide what to wear so she left him at home!

She cycled under that Monk Bar again and parked the bike in the usual place.  We got a better photo of the bike parking place this time.
Here it is
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/16tv3.jpg
and here I am in the bike with the others.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tv67.jpg

Do you all remember when I went up a few steps into the doorway on Monk Bar?
Well I did it again but this time I went right to the top.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv17-1.jpg
That is the door I came out through at the top.

I had to wait for ages for the computer this evening so it is very late now and I will show you more photos form today when I can.

Bye for now
x

York, England - 26th June 2011

By: Leslee

Hi everyone,

I got on the computer for a while so Leslee is helping me update so I can tell you more about the outing we had on Sunday.

Here I am with Mishuta on the bar walls.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv028.jpg
There is a building behind us that we were looing at.  The Bile Beans advert has been there for at least 60 years.  You can't buy bile beans any more but the people here like the advert.

We could see the York Minster from here too.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv032.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv56.jpg

there were lots of buildings that had the bar walls as their garden back walls!!!
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv67.jpg

Some parts like this looked like a castle.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv36.jpg

Here is a wooden gate in the next bar.  This is at the top of Bootham bar
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv83.jpg
and we even went underneath later and gould see the bottom of the gate peeking out.  It stays open these days.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/09tv4.jpg

Botham Bar is a busy place.  Lots of people get in and out of town here and there was a big bus that tourists like to get on to see the town.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/09tv0.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/102tv-2.jpg
I don't need to because I can get all over with Leslee instead.

http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/127tv.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/12tv3.jpg
I liked this fountain so much that I asked to be photographed here twice.
The fountain is in front of the art gallery
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tv06.jpg

and the theatre is here too
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/13tv7.jpg

I showed Mishuta the Minster
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv148.jpg
and Blinchick liked this old church.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/1tv39.jpg

It was so hot that we went home but did look at a charity shop on the way and found this Black Pearl
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv006-1.jpg
Yo ho ho!

York, England - 2nd July 2011

By: Leslee

Here is a really good shop that sells trains and cars and models to make.  We came here on Saturday and it is under the Monkbar.  This shop is almost 50 years old and is run by someone Leslee went to school with and his Dad.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv44.jpg

On the way home we went to a supermarket which has a big old chimney.  It is so old and protected to it stays here near the new supermarket.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv55.jpg

xx Bye everyone.

Swimming baths, England - 3rd July 2011

By: Leslee

I went to the swimming baths on Sunday.  I thought I was going swimming but when I got there I soon realised that I was just going there to watch!
I am glad.  It looked a bit wet in there!
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/tv024.jpg
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd358/hipapotomus/0tv12.jpg

I couldn't take photos in there but looked fun.
