Heidelberg, Germany - 27th November 2011

By: indrarado

I'm back again!

Last week I saw Heidelberg and Ulm! It was just amazing! I think first I'll show you Heidelberg.

See, this was shortly after my arrival. A view over the Neckar - a big River in Germany. In the background you can see the hills with the famous Philosopher's Way.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7029/6411307485_2ab25811a2_z.jpg

And the next day we had a stroll through the city. First we saw the "Tiefburg" in which once a knight had been walled in alive, a small art ground near Acadamy of Arts and the first of many nice churches.

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6229/6411319251_7e68030206_z.jpg

And then we came to vegetable fields where you were told much about farming in this area.

Next we walked a part of the Philosopher's Way.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7149/6411311327_a9df9d3858_z.jpg

A great view of the Inner City, the Karl-Theodor-Bridge, the Heiliggeistkirche and the Castle.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7026/6411312313_3dcccf1ceb_z.jpg

A closer view of the Old Bridge (Karl-Theodor-Bridge) and the Church.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7155/6411315711_6fa581d8ed_z.jpg

There are many old buildings in the city. This is the University Library.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6411316587_0f35e84e1a_z.jpg

And then we found the Shopping street, about 1,6km long.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7008/6411316945_a424604921_z.jpg

And see this?

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6411316227_a9ed0cf13c_z.jpg

Well, usually Daniela's not very fond of these. But a HARD ROCK Cafe in the small, quite, cute city of Heidelberg? I guess she just had to have a look inside. So we had a hot chocolate in there to celebrate the last evening in Heidelberg.

Ulm, Germany - 27th November 2011

By: indrarado

Hi there!
After Heidelberg I arrived in Ulm. And first I saw was the famous Ulmer Minster. It is the highest church in the world! They say it was built as high as the sparrows fly. See how it fades into the mist.

And in front there was a very cute, but large Weihnachtsmarkt/Christmas market. Beautiful sight.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7022/6413249675_a68bb608da_z.jpg

And on this market they had some real manger scene animals!

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7142/6413252975_82f9525c2b_z.jpg

And of course we had a step inside.

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6038/6413253707_7a5395c058_z.jpg

And this was completely new even to Daniela. An electronic offertory box! :D

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7148/6413254823_7181f6b42d_z.jpg

Further on through the city I saw the city hall.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7155/6413255411_7e624fbe86_z.jpg

And the old City Walls along the river Donau.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7146/6413256171_54922a8e2e_z.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7030/6413265397_97021f13e3_z.jpg

On my second day here I saw the court. Impressive building.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6413265977_ba1389f648_z.jpg

From there we went on to the Fishermen'S quarter. Very old and neat houses around here.

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6045/6413266935_1fd4bc7be2_z.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7006/6413267343_97da9d2ddc_z.jpg

On our way we saw many of these sparrows in different colours and at all places. The sparrow is the inofficial sign of Ulm.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/6413266579_e6b21dd751_z.jpg

And finally we saw the Donau! In the background you can see a memorial for the deads of World War I. And the other sight of the River is another Bundesland/federal state already: Bayern.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7165/6413268019_6300d5c6db_z.jpg

On my last day in Ulm I saw the top of the Minster a bit better. We went to a very high cafe right opposite to the church. From there we also could see the great Weihnachtsmarkt.

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6058/6413269079_ea5cc3fa6c_z.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7027/6413271389_7bb7795dff_z.jpg

And on our way back to the central station we walked across this statue. See what's written in it? "This is the place where on March 14th in 1879 Albert Einstein was born". I didn't even know he was from Ulm.
Seems like the real house was bombed in World War II.

Münster, Germany - 8th December 2011

By: indrarado

Hi there"

Finally I saw a bit of Münster. More than I can show you. But here are a few pictures of me infront of the main buildings here. It was already late. but that is the best time to party. ;)

First we saw the Cathedral (St. Paul's). It is closed now due to renewing. Did you know that the pope teached in Münster (at Daniela's university) before he came to Rome? Of course he was here very often.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7162/6478911725_2bb449c2ae_z.jpg

We went on through the inner city and along the "Prinzipalmartk" (main market) with the oldest houses and a very interesting (and long!) building story. At the end there is the Lamberti church with three cages in which certain criminals were caged in alive and then starved and rott.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6478912293_8337809293_z.jpg

And then we went to see the castle. a very prominent building. And the place (Hindenburgplatz) in front is the biggest open inner city space in whole Europe. Even bigger than the red place in Moskow.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7035/6478911975_d394610d5f_z.jpg

Well, now I am quite tired. It has been very exciting at Daniela's. But now I wait to see my new host. Soon I will leave to get there!

Solingen, Germany - 27th December 2011

By: Wauzi

Hey mama , hope you´re okaiih :)
so i already told you that we´ll going to search snow and I need to say ... we didn´t found some :(
but we made a travel to Solingen to the "Müngstener Brücke"
so this bridge is the oldest train bridge in germany it´s about 118 years old  and it´s still in works . we saw some trains run through it and it was amazing.
around the bridge is a park and in the park are some puzzles at the beginning you can find some questions and if you go through the park you will find the answers .
after that little walk in the park we drove back to Cologne and we ate at the Rosenstock a great restaurant .
so here are the pictures  , a little late ( sorry ) :)
