Tarnobrzeg, Poland - 6th August 2011

By: ai

Hello there!
I'm still in home with mommy. I was little dirty so I took a bath.
Now I'm outside, waiting to dry. I hope someone will take me on a trip soon!

I am looking forward to spending some time in South Africa! Please don't worry about me - I am in safe hands.

Pretoria, South Africa - 30th October 2011

By: Katara

Today I attended my hostess' sister's baby shower (Her in-laws are Bulgarian)
I enjoyed some Baklava and Banitsa. Banitsa is a traditional Bulgarian food prepared by layering a mixture of whisked eggs and pieces of cheese between filo pastry and then baking it in an oven.

Here I am eating some Baklava. It is a rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo pastry filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey.
http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/Katara007/baklava.jpg

Later on my new friends decided to play a little 'trick' on me. They asked their troll friends and the friendly witch if they could 'scare' me a bit for Halloween.

So I was 'kidnapped' by the trolls

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/Katara007/halloween.jpg

and the witch decided that she was going to cook me in her cauldron for dinner...

Fortunately my friends told me it was just a Halloween trick and they shared some candy with me afterwards  :D

Pretoria, South Africa - 2nd November 2011

By: Katara

Hi Mommy - It's Spring in South Africa, so it's very sunny and warm. Today I spent some time outside. My hostess, Katara, showed me around the complex where she lives.

Katara told me that Pretoria is known for its beautiful purple Jacaranda trees which are now in full-bloom.

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/Katara007/jacaranda.jpg

We took some more photos outside.

Katara and her husband have a magnificent view from both their front door and balcony and from within the complex.

Pretoria, South Africa - 4th November 2011

By: Katara

Katara and her husband went to Centurion Mall late this afternoon and they took me along. We did some window shopping - I spotted a bright red sports car in one of the shops and decided to take it for a test drive :D

Later on we had dinner at Cafe Bugatti - a restaurant at Centurion Mall. Katara told me that they had a BIG SURPRISE for me. I was very curious and excited. She told me that Tuesday evening we will be flying down to Cape Town for 2 days. I couldn't believe it!! I am really really looking forward to it!  ;)

Pretoria, South Africa - 5th November 2011

By: Katara

Hi Mom!

This morning I met another ToyVoyager, Marty, a pink monkey, who is from North Carolina, USA. She arrived today and we went to collect her from the post office. Later we went to a Christmas market, in aid of Autism, at the University of Pretoria's Sports' Grounds (L.C. de Villiers).

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk85/Katara007/TG042.jpg

I enjoyed browsing all the handmade crafts!

The University Sports' Grounds are beautiful - we spent some time outside enjoying the weather and the scenery

All the streets in Pretoria are lined with beautiful Jacaranda trees - Pretoria is known as the "Jacaranda City" in South Africa, and I can certainly see why!

Pretoria, South Africa - 8th November 2011

By: Katara

Hi Mom!

I'm in CAPE TOWN!  :D
It's just a short trip - and we'll only stay for 2 days, but the cool
thing is that I might see a little bit of the city!
Cape Town is 1 700km (approximately 1000 miles) from Pretoria.
Fortunately we flew down so it only took 2 hours.

Cape Town (Afrikaans: Kaapstad; Xhosa: iKapa) is the second-most populous city in South Africa.
As the seat of the National Parliament, it is also the legislative capital of the country.
The city is famous for its harbour as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom,
including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is also Africa's most popular tourist destination.

We took some photos at O.R. Tambo International Airport and in the plane.

Cape Town, South Africa - 9th November 2011

By: Katara

Mom, we are staying in a 4-star guest house called Dunkley House
The room is very comfortable and our one door opens onto the swimming pool.
We are going to be spending the day lazying around at the guest house as Katara's husband will be attending a conference today.
But we will definitely be doing some sight-seeing tomorrow - weather permitting.

Hout Bay, South Africa - 9th November 2011

By: Katara

Tonight we went to Mariner's Wharf in Hout Bay. It was a scenic drive but unfortunately it rained most of the way. I also caught a glimpse of Table Mountain and of the ocean!  :) The interior of the restaurant is decorated to look like an old ship. We enjoyed some seafood for dinner.  :cyclops:

Cape Town, South Africa - 10th November 2011

By: Katara

Hi mom!
Today we went sight-seeing!

Part 1:
First we went to Table Mountain. It is a significant tourist attraction, with many visitors using the cableway or hiking to the top. The mountain forms part of the Table Mountain National Park.

Cape Town, South Africa - 10th November 2011

Part 2:

We walked around at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront which is
situated at the foot of Table Mountain, and in the heart of Cape Town’s working harbour. The waterfront is really beautiful! There are many shops and restaurants and even a shopping mall!
Marty and I have become very good friends! It's nice having a ToyVoyager friend. Together we are exploring South Africa!  :D

All the other photos were taken along the way.

I really enjoyed seeing Cape Town! It was a great experience!  ;)

Over and out,

Hi mom!

Today we went to visit Katara's in-laws - they live on a plot outside the city. I met Sylvester - one of their Boxer dogs and "Grietjie" their
goose.

Pretoria, South Africa - 25th November 2011

By: Katara

Hi Mom!
Tonight we ate some spicy Butternut soup that Katara prepared for us.
She added some ground ginger, curry powder and a little dash of Tabasco sauce. Once the soup was plated, Katara crumbled some Feta cheese into the soup. It was really nice!It left a warm feeling in my throat, but fortunately it didn't burn too much  ;)
Lots of love,
Mo xxx
