Hello again!

We're back from the doc. She got some pills and the doc told her she isn't allowed to drive her car for the next days.

I'm very obliging, I transported the bag with the pills for her.
Here you can see me keeping an eye on the pills.

Than I went to the kitchen and made a tea for Mom.

And now I'm checking my mails

But I'll show you some more pics from me and the Turtle Mr. Monk. I visited him in his aquarium.
First we talked a bit...

... and than I hustled him into the water hihi http://www.bilder-hochladen.net/files/big/4ypk-2n-98dc.jpg

See you

Hi di ho!

Wuuh I'm so excited. I found a new PM with the addy juhiii! Mom told me that my journey will start tomorrow. She had to go once more to the doc and than she'll bring me to the post office.
My first stop will be in Heidelberg at nuriayasmin's home. I'm a very lucky elk. My trip to Heidelberg won't be so long, round about 200km.

I want to show you two more pics from yesterday. Mom and me were watching a documentary film of an little elk called Erika. It was very interesting.

Let's have a look out of our window. In the background you could see a hill called Gräbelesberg. On the top you have a great look around.

Bye for now

PS: I had to pack my bags  ;)

This is a part of the     railway in A-Lautlingen.

Just one more stop in A-Lautlingen.

On the way to A-Ebingen to the post office.

The hill with the tower (red arrow) is called Schloßberg.

Jumping into my envelope. Bye for now.

Heidelberg - At home, Germany - 31st October 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Dear Mum!

I've arrived in Heidelberg. And guess what?  I was greeted by another reindeer. His name is Rendolph. He's originally from Wales but has already travelled to quite a few places so I can't wait to hear his stories. My host and her daughter were really delighted about the goodies I had brought with me but would like me to tell you that it was too much.

Rendolph introduced me to the other TV's who are currently staying here and I'm sending you this group photo so that you know who is keeping me company at the moment. I'm sure I'll have a great time here.

Keep fine. I'll soon write to you again.

Heidelberg, Germany - 2nd November 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Hi Mum

Today I accompanied nuriayasmin and her daughter to the animal shelter. They are looking for a cat. We took a bus and then walked a little.

Heidelberg will get a completely new suburb called "Bahnstadt" and we read a sign which says that houses are built in a way which lizards like but it's also good for human beings :-).

The animal shelter is situated in the middle of some fields, here's the sign showing the way to it.

Apart from the animals who are looking for new homes there are some sheeps, ponies and donkeys living permanently at the shelter.

This is one of the cats we spent some time with but probably not the one who will come to live with us.

After spending time with the cats we also had a short look at some of the dogs.

Now nuriayasmin will have to work 5 night shifts, so don't worry if you don't hear from me for some days. I'll be fine with the other TV's.

Heidelberg, Germany - 8th November 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Hi Mum

I'm doing fine. Today DuDette, DuDu and I accompanied nuriayasmin to a pet shop to get some stuff for the new cat. However, first I played a little in the leaves which had fallen off the trees.

And this is the house where I'm currently living. We're on the 4th floor, just under the roof.

Finally the three of us sat down in nuriayasmin's bike basket and off we went.

The pet shop is situated a bit outside the town, so we cycled along some fields and also passed a horse stable.

The pet shop was quite interesting. We had a look around while nuriayasmin chose the things she needs for the new cat.

Then we went back home again.

Heidelberg, Germany - 9th November 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Dear Mum

Today I strolled along the river Neckar and had a look at the Old Bridge which Heidelberg is famous for. Unfortunately it was quite foggy in the mountains so you can't see much of the castle. However, I may climb up there next week, depending on the weather.

All the best from Willy Olson

Heidelberg - At home, Germany - 14th November 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Dear Mum

Today I'd like to tell you how I spent the day at home with nuriayasmin and the other TV's.

I had breakfast with Rendolph, not very healthy but very tasty: a piece of cake which was left over from yesterday and a cup of hot chocolate.

Then we TV's decided to learn some bits of a foreign language which might be helpful while travelling around the world. Fortunately nuriayasmin is quite a language nerd and gave us all her textbooks and grammars for Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Norwegian, Czech, Slovak, Russian and Japanese.

It probably won't surprise you that I decided to learn some Norwegian, it's the land of elks after all. So here are some useful phrases:
I'm called Willy Olson: Jeg heter Willy Olson
I like travelling: Jeg liker å reise
How are you? Hvordan har du det?
I'm pretty fine. Jeg har det bare brå.
I'm German. Jeg er tysk.
I'm an elk: Jeg er en elg.

Then I wanted to talk to Sammy the cat. He was asleep like always and I woke him up. He looked quite surprised and then started to clean his paws - cats do that when they're embarrassed :-).

I helped with some household tasks and took the clean clothes out of the washing-machine.

Afterwards I went outside on the balcony. It's very cold today and everything looks grey. I guess it was no bad idea to spend the day at home.

For lunch I had Chinese noodles and orange juice.

In the afternoon we TV's gathered around the Swedish cookies nuriayasmin had bought for us and told each other about our journeys and dreams about journeys to come. I also drank a big cup of hot tea.

Then we helped nuriayasmin to write some postcrossing cards. Each TV was allowed to write one card. Mine went to Singapore.

Unfortunately there was still some ironing to do which was really the least enjoyable task today.

Last not least I sat down in front of the laptop and wrote my travelog update.

Greetings from Willy Olson

Heidelberg Castle, Germany - 17th November 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Dear Mum

Today a bunch of ToyVoyagers invaded Heidelberg Castle. There are stairs which lead to the castle which is situated in the mountains over the city and we climbed them - about 400 I guess. Afterwards we needed to take a rest and took the chance for a group photo.

I had a look down to the city. It's a bit foggy up here as always during the last two or three weeks.

The castle of Heidelberg was built in the 13th century. For a while there were two castles, one situated a bit higher than the remains of the current one.  During the Thirty Years War (1618 - 1648) the castle was attacked and partly destroyed for the first time. In 1692 the castle was destroyed by the French and although basic repairs were made, the castle has basically remained a ruin since then. In the early 19th century a French count became interested in the castle and served as a voluntary castle warden. Between 1897 and 1900 the castle was partly reconstructed and became one of Germany's main tourist attractions.

Another look to the city centre, the Old Bridge and the river Neckar.

Bye, Willy

Speyer, Germany - 19th November 2011

By: nuriayasmin

Dear Mum

I went to Speyer today. It's a small town not too far away from here. It took us about 45 minutes by train to get there. Speyer used to be an important city in the Middle Ages.

Speyer Cathedral was built between 1030 and 1080 by the Salic Emperors and designed as their last resting place. 8 German emperors and kings, 4 queens and several bishops were buried in the cathedral's Crypt between 1039 and 1309. Since 1981 the cathedral has been a UNESCO world heritage site.

This is the front of the Cathedral:

This is the back part of it where the Crypt is situated.

After visiting the Cathedral we walked through its park to the Sea Life Aquarium.

Speyer is situated at Germany's biggest river Rhine. Here's a port for small boats.

We took a walk along the Rhine, watched some big freight ships and then returned back to town from where we took a bus to the train station.

It was a great day and not even very cold.

Keep fine, Willy
