Cologne, Germany - 18th January 2012

By: beelicious

The next day...

This morning was very cold!
We snuggled into the warm blanket.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040059.jpg

After breakfast we drove to Cologne.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040076.jpg

BineHH: Where is the cathedral?

Me: Well, over there he is!
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040070.jpg

Boofle: I see I have not even ....

Rapunzel: I see him, I see him.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040073.jpg
BineHH: Yes, I too now!

Boofle: He's so big!
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040158.jpg

From here I had a nice view of the Cologne Cathedral.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040146.jpg

These three buildings are very modern flats behind me. They should look like old cranes on the Rhine.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040153.jpg

Behind me is the great railway bridge over the Rhine.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040152.jpg

We wanted to take the cable car over the Rhine, but unfortunately it didn't work.
Then we made our way home.

Vaterstetten, Germany - 25th January 2012

By: beelicious

Hello!

Today we packed our bags! But my hosts did't tell me where we go ....

I see nothing! Too much fog ...
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040273.jpg

Here is a little snow. Where could we be?
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040275.jpg

And here is yet more snow!
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040276.jpg

We are in the beautiful Upper-Bavaria!
This is our home for the next few days - the hotel "Alter Hof"  in Vaterstetten near Munich.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040428.jpg

We  have a bed for us alone!
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040421.jpg

In the afternoon we visited relatives of my host mother in Munich: Aunt Gerda is a 86 year old lady and Uncle Bruno and his wife Gerlinde.

Tomorrow we take a trip to the mountains!

Bye,
Sir James

Puuh! After 3 hours of driving we were back at home ...

We just back as the postwoman came. And what she brought us?
An envelope. Whether this is probably a new TV?

You see a littlebit of blue ...

http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040449-1.jpg

He has traveled very far. Nearly 16,000 km! He  shows us on the PC where he comes from.
http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff457/Kalea3307/Sir%20James/P1040456-1.jpg

On the road, Spain - 25th April 2012

By: JunCTionS

Hello!
I have finally arrived to Spain, I'm so happy.
I was received by a very eager toyvoyager called Capote, at first I was a bit shy
http://i.imgur.com/nbBp0.jpg
but after greeting him I saw there was no doubt we will be great friends.
http://i.imgur.com/piQzk.jpg
After I delivered a note my mommy sent to my hosts, I was told I arrived just in time and that we would be going on a roadtrip! Good thing I love to travel.
The road in Spain was very nice, and I got to see many beautiful sights. I really liked some bulls we saw along the way, they're an important animal in Spain:
http://i.imgur.com/S9IHU.jpg

Along the way I had the chance to talk to my hosts and Capote, he's a really good and happy dog. He told me a lot about the time he spent in Kansas, and we also spoke about our homes in Germany.
http://i.imgur.com/QChsc.jpg

Along the road we saw many fields with olive trees or other plantations, solar power stations and wind power stations. All very pretty
http://i.imgur.com/tsvbM.jpg

After finally arriving we went to visit some friends of our hosts and there I got to pet a guinea pig!
http://i.imgur.com/tVAPe.jpg
He was very kind but also very afraid... even though he was a lot bigger and heavier than me!.

Oh well, I hope to finally get some rest after so much travel. But I'm really happy I'll get to see more than one Spanish city.

Madrid, Spain - 27th April 2012

By: JunCTionS

Today we got to visit downtown Madrid!,
Here's me with the fountain of Neptune, we also passed by a very similar one called the Cibeles fountain which is where the Real Madrid football fans celebrate their wins.
http://i.imgur.com/6i2jd.jpg

In a big souvenir store they had a very funny looking full size statue of Don Quixote:
http://i.imgur.com/MsyGQ.jpg

We walked beside the Prado Museum. Here's Capote and me with a statue of the famous Spanish painter Velazquez:
http://i.imgur.com/kYxyg.jpg

And this is the entrance of museo del Prado:
http://i.imgur.com/MlgGB.jpg

After passing by there we went to the centric park called "El Retiro", it was very nice and with lots of gardens. And with a big pond with people on rowboats:
http://i.imgur.com/gaT1Z.jpg

Here's me with some pretty flowers:
http://i.imgur.com/NyD1W.jpg

And just outside was the Puerta de Alcalá:
http://i.imgur.com/ci3Ux.jpg

we then went to the main street in Madrid, the Gran Vía:
http://i.imgur.com/11Gjz.jpg
And from there walked to Sol, which is the a square where Spanish people greet the New Year.
http://i.imgur.com/0qVlj.jpg

And before ending our day's trip we passed by the Congress of Deputies, here we are with one of the big lion statues at the entrance:
http://i.imgur.com/g7vdU.jpg

I really like Madrid, there's many things to see, although we had to do a lot of walking and didn't have enough time to visit it all.

Madrid, Spain - 1st May 2012

By: JunCTionS

Today we went back to Madrid,
Here in the back you can see the four really big skyscrappers of Madrid known as the "Torres de la Castellana":
http://i.imgur.com/q27me.jpg
We went to the "Palacio de Oriente" which is the official residence of the kings of Spain.
http://i.imgur.com/cXmFA.jpg
We knocked on the door but apparently they weren't home. Next time we'll call before :p:
http://i.imgur.com/0HrAX.jpg
We went into the Almudena Cathedral and after walking many steps to the top of the bell tower here's the view towards the downtown of Madrid.
http://i.imgur.com/waauk.jpg
It was really rainy so it was good to be indoors.

We went to eat to a famous restaurant called the Caves of Luis Candela. A long time ago it was the hidding place of the famous thief.
http://i.imgur.com/5YQYi.jpg

And it was right below the main square of Madrid called Plaza Mayor:
http://i.imgur.com/7Xz3y.jpg
Madrid was a really nice place. Hopefully some day I'll get to visit it again.

Granada, Spain - 3rd May 2012

By: JunCTionS

On the way to Granada we stopped at a placed called Despeñaperros, which has really nice mountains, here's me and Capote enjoying the view:
http://i.imgur.com/CMC2K.jpg
Today it was the "Día de las cruces" when the city gets full of red flower crosses, people get dressed in typical spanish dresses and there's a lot of music and dancing; it was really nice.
http://i.imgur.com/eOduz.jpg
We had some nice dessert: strawberries and cream, and some churros!
http://i.imgur.com/QZDSA.jpg
This is the Bib-Rambla square which is very centric and in the background you can see the big cathedral tower:
http://i.imgur.com/3xwoo.jpg
Here's me with a funny looking motorcycle:
http://i.imgur.com/dkCcO.jpg
Do you think I'll be able to drive it?

Finally this is me at Plaza Nueva with the main regional courthouse for Andalucía which used to be a prison itself:
http://i.imgur.com/Hoakn.jpg
And the fountain that is at that square:

Munich, Germany - 6th May 2012

By: JunCTionS

And we're on the road again! I know I have yet to see Granada properly, but there will be time for that later, as I had the oportunity to visit Munich again!
This time a new ToyVoyager joined us, his name is Kibblet , and here we are with Capote on the Madrid Metro:
http://i.imgur.com/JdyxB.jpg
and then in the Barajas Airport of Madrid it's very nice how the columns make a rainbow along the very long terminal.
http://i.imgur.com/055sD.jpg
Here's our airplane, as you can see we were very excited to go on it.
http://i.imgur.com/21bSG.jpg
We took a train from the Munich airport to the city:
http://i.imgur.com/kQfLi.jpg
Shortly after arriving we went on a walk, luckily we arrived right on time for the Spring Festival, so our host had a typical sized Bavarian drink:
http://i.imgur.com/S95bO.jpg
And then we went on a large Ferris Wheel to see the city landscape:
http://i.imgur.com/zSMQ5.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/Gw3qV.jpg

We visited the beautiful Nymphemburg castle:
http://i.imgur.com/G3a0b.jpg
It had a big front lawn surrounded by identical yellow houses.
http://i.imgur.com/Bhg9k.jpg

From a bus I saw many buildings, some of the ones I saw the previous time I was in Munich, including the television tower and the 1971 Olympic Arena. But this time I took pictures of the O2 tower and the BMW factory buildings:
http://i.imgur.com/C81zY.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/AK6rN.jpg
Here we are all in front of the Siegestor arch:
http://i.imgur.com/VSwY7.jpg
We also went for a walk in the English Garden, there I saw the Chinese tower again and then went to the nearby Hofgarten, here's the Bavarian State Chancellery:
http://i.imgur.com/AX3k8.jpg
We had to schedule some time to see the pretty figures of the "new" town hall's clock, the Rathaus-Glockenspiel, moving, it was quite enchanting to see:
http://i.imgur.com/AdFyG.jpg
It was very nice getting to go back to Munich, we all had a very nice time, but as you can see we were quite tired by the time we got to the Munich Airport.
http://i.imgur.com/umQIy.jpg
In Madrid we took a short distance train from the airport.
http://i.imgur.com/Wxlt1.jpg
I wonder how many modes of transportation I haven't been on already ;).
