Travelog for: Plato

Essen/ home, Germany - 23rd October 2011

By: LoganCarter

Hey there and welcome to my travel log.
Yesterday, my current host found me because there was an explosion on my home planet Bearania and I fell down to earth. I've never been here before so my current host and elternate mum agreed to send me travelling.
Here are a few pictures of me.

http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/7360/platoandothers.jpg
This is Logan(another TV of my earthmum), Kendall, Jacob, Nina and me chilling on the bed.

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/8035/platoandguitar.jpg
Just like Logan, I like to play guitar.

This is me with my new favourite CD

http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/2236/platochocolateshrimps.jpg
I stole my earthmum's pink chocolate shrimps. They're so yummi!

This is all from me for today. I'm gonna update again when my earthmum knows when I'll be going on my first travel.

Bye!!

Essen/ home, Germany - 26th October 2011

By: LoganCarter

Hey there again,

my earth-mom and I went on a walk yesterday, unfortunately she forgot her phone so there are no pictures.
We walked through the city and it was soooo cold. Most of the time I was hiding in her jacket anyway. I'm just used to warmer weather on my home planet.

Isy, as I call my earth-mom, said that I'm going to participate in a Round Robin and will travel for 4 months. So far we know, that my first new host will be olgamaus. I will spend 4 weeks with her. That's more than I spent with my earth-mom. haha

But I am REALLY excited. Everything is ready for me to go. All we need is an address and I can go travel. But I don't think, I will travel too far because Olgamaus lives in Northrhine-Westfalia, too, just like my earth-mom. Well, we will see, won't we?

Ok, so I guess, that's all for today.

Bye, earth-people.

Hello!

My name is Luzy.
Today, Mum told me that my foster brother Plato decided that he doesn't want to travel so that I will take his place in the RR.

I think Plato is on his way back home and I will be send to olgamaus later today.

Noisy's TV Muggel Rainbow arrived at my Mom's today. He is a very nice TV and I think we could be great friends. But I am leaving today. Maybe we will meet again someday.

Here's a picture of me getting ready for travelling:

Remscheid, Germany - 5th November 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
we are having fantastic weather here, so we took a walk in the afternoon. Katja showed me the vicinity of my current home. There are a lot of lovely old houses.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6040/6315092097_f67c357ece_o.jpg

We went through a part of the municipal park where you can find allotment gardens.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6230/6315092287_671115dc48_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6221/6315609302_46ef22aa4c_o.jpg

We reached the district Hasten than, one of the oldest districts of the city. Here you can find a lot of those old traditional "Bergische Häuser" (houses which are  typical for this region), they are often half-timbered houses or covered with slate. They often have green shutters.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6218/6315609422_b45f0aaa63_o.jpg

Here you can often find old factory buildings close to dwellings.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6055/6315609560_b7c5d7e37c_o.jpg

Soon we reached a woodland area.

Hi Mummy,
I could not wait to take a walk in our lunch break. The weather was fine, so we went around a bit. The first photos were taken in the vicinity of my current home.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6053/6326672266_d568465d0d_o.jpg

We walked to the city centre than.

Here you can see some of Katja's current guests: Jellybean and Krystal.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6032/6325918919_854dfceab3_o.jpg

A few minutes later we reached the city centre with the shopping area.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6039/6325919053_0bd80dbbc3_o.jpg

A farmer's market is taking place here on Thursday and Friday.

Remscheid, at home, Germany - 10th November 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today we helped Katja to prepare mussels for dinner. First the mussels had to be cleaned.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6224/6337054799_33c053aa20_o.jpg

Some vegetables had to be cut, leek and onions. We also needed mustard seed, salt, bay leaf and black pepper.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6238/6337789856_da0485af91_o.jpg

Katja cooked the mussels in vegetable stock with the spices and some white wine.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6055/6337054893_dc0d319ec2_o.jpg

Soon dinner was ready.

Bon appetit!

Remscheid, Germany - 11th November 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
we took a walk in the municipal park today. It is not far from my current home, only a few minutes walking to get there. It is more a landscape park than a park with lawns and flower beds.

In the entrance area you can find the observatory.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6100/6344429045_da240f20ff_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6039/6345177030_ed00a4de7f_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6221/6345177196_dd9d1ab8e6_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6048/6344429523_01df5ce96c_o.jpg

We became witness in a love story: KalliHH met his love HelgaHH. I don't have the slightest idea how she came here from Heidelberg in Southern Germany, but somehow she made it.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6220/6335144772_bace9ffea7_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6224/6344429695_67314d3899_o.jpg

We saw lovely coloured ilex.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6051/6344429791_f9c0743cdb_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6217/6345177752_58c41da651_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6039/6345178304_c40cab6354_o.jpg

When we left the park we saw outskirts of the neighbour city Wuppertal.

Solingen, Germany - 13th November 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today we took a walk in Solingen-Unterburg, a lovely historic quarter in the neighbour city Solingen. Here you can also find those lovely half-timbered houses.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6032/6340623895_01616f54f4_o.jpg

Here are a lot of restaurants.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6031/6341373766_96c3d6ecd7_o.jpg

This house was built in 1654!

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6094/6341374370_10327bf2cb_o.jpg

Narrow lanes like this are also typical for this quarter.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6230/6341374582_68a2256484_o.jpg

Than we visited an old formerly evangelic graveyard. It belongs to this little church from 18th century.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6036/6341375402_8c5e52dde1_o.jpg

The graveyard was opened in 1744 A.D. and closed in 1854 A.D.

52 graves remained. This graveyard really is a speciality because the tombstones were created in a nearly unitary style, made from an originally yellow-reddish sandstone. Presumably they were made at the same time around 1745 A.D. They were probably made with the inscriptions and sayings, later the dates of death were filled in.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6046/6340656157_04023792e1_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6231/6341376012_f09b081bf8_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6221/6341376740_7ddbf8b250_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6232/6341377100_c96a80d8d0_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6031/6340644133_2444d6a5d8_o.jpg

After visiting the graveyard we took a walk in the nearby forest. From a view point we saw Muengsten Bridge in the distance. Muengsten Bridge is Germany's highes railway bridge, connecting the cities Remscheid and Solingen.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6216/6340628807_3cc2d6a7e2_o.jpg

Here is also a zoomed photo.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6213/6341406012_253fc97a3e_o.jpg

We found a lovely place with soft pine needles.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6106/6340644465_2408a06aae_o.jpg

When we left the forest Schloss Burg came into sight. Schloss Burg is a medieval castle, situated on the hill in the background. I hope I will visit it while I am here.

Remscheid, Germany - 16th November 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today we picked up a friend of Katja from her work place and took a long walk in the outskirts of Remscheid. We started our trip in Hohenhagen, a district with recently built dwellings, close to woodland areas and rural areas.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6097/6350737483_3d307b5dea_o.jpg

You can see the city centre in the background with the water tower and the tower of the city hall.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6056/6351481666_4fab63c19b_o.jpg

This tower was once used as a television tower.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6054/6350737557_2a93febe1c_o.jpg

In the background you can now see the outskirts of the neighbour city Wuppertal. I would love to run across this large meadow!

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6120/6350737741_08f30ab4c1_o.jpg

I must have been quiete cold last night, at some places you could still find hoarfrost.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6217/6351486732_a21659f6fd_o.jpg

The motorway A1 was visible than. Katja told me a terrible storm destroyed thousands of trees here a few years ago. The motorway was not visible before.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6058/6351481900_a798b41dc3_o.jpg

There was a small hamlet hidden in the valley.

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6113/6351481992_1fd6da195f_o.jpg

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6045/6351482128_b83a1fb174_o.jpg

I also met sheep, cameroons, but unfortunately they were not interested to come closer :(

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6216/6350738335_8401423b78_o.jpg

Hueckeswagen, Germany - 28th November 2011

By: olgamaus

Hi Mummy,
today we went to Hueckeswagen, a small town in the "Oberbergischer Kreis" embedded in a rural area. First we had a look at the riding stable, where Katja's friend is spending her free time.

We went to the meadows to have a look at the horses. They were all outside.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6420178003_191b2c3e45_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7020/6420178241_c83561d4f4_o.jpg

[img] [/img]

Lots of animals are living here, also two calfes.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7018/6420177679_3c1782425c_o.jpg

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6224/6420178483_719edc8170_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7009/6420178771_e1bb03c70f_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7153/6420178969_8e4e3092be_o.jpg

[img] [/img]

Katja and her friend wanted to walk to the city centre of Hueckeswagen, maybe 30 minutes to walk. We walked along an upstream dam, part of the large "Wuppersperre" (Wupper dam).

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7168/6420219241_777fe4e6d0_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7153/6420179243_6ff0555b83_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7170/6420179333_e913e0aa6c_o.jpg

In Hueckeswagen you can find an old castle, situated on a hill, with a part of the city centre. Stairs are leading to the castle.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7023/6420179851_a4f8c17a4a_o.jpg

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7141/6420180147_7c89e5643f_o.jpg

They have lovely old houses here.

http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6116/6420180447_7a5838b861_o.jpg

Of course we had to walk all the way back to the riding stable. Katja's friend had to care for two horses and than we went back home.
