Christkindlmarkt Salzburg, Salzburg - 1st December 2011

By: Guest

Hi there!

The last weeks had been really hard here in Austria. Although it was not raining or snowing the weather was really bad... we had so much fog, you won't believe! And because of this weather our sightseeing was limited. But within the last days it got sunny.
Although there is still no snow here, we already visited the inner city of Salzburg, took a walk through the very famous "Getreidegasse", passing by "Mozarts Geburtshaus" and had some hot wine punch (called Glühwein here in Austria) and a baked potato.... yummy!!!!

So that's all for today... but as the weather is fine at the moment we can do more sightseeing!

Greetings from Austria.

Vienna, Austria - 18th January 2012

By: Cessy

hello my dears,

Today i reached my new host in vienna.

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2196/img7572s.jpg

I was happy to go out of the dark and narrow box. And now, here i am

http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/9961/img7573v.jpg

The first i saw were friendly looking fluffy toys. They welcomed me very heartily

http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/4446/img7574c.jpg

After the long and strenuously journey i was tired and went to bed soon

http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/6328/img7576.jpg

Next morning i had a fine breakfast and a cup of coffee (decaffeinated of course) together with one of my new friends, the smart little dog named FUTZI

http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7897/img7577v.jpg

Later we went to the supermarket to get some foodstuff, first and foremost sweets for me. I was allowed to sit in the shopping trolley, there i had a fine general survey

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/3723/img7578fv.jpg

In the next days, maybe on following weekend we will make a trip to the city of vienna. I am already excited. Send you many regards and kisses, see you soon

Vienna, Austria - 30th January 2012

By: Cessy

Hello,

last saturday evening i had a nice party day with fluffy toys of my hosters. We played a funny and excitingly parlour game named scotland yard.

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/2806/spiel1.jpg

It is a board game in which a team of players, as police, cooperate to track down a player controlling a criminal around a board representing the streets of London. I was the criminal, mr. x and had to hide in the streets.
Amy, the dog of my hosters helped me a little bit ;-)

http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/5161/spiel2.jpg

It was very funny and I even won the game. Here you can see me at the awards ceremony

http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/2701/spiel3.jpg

Yesterday i could relax and watched tv, the australian open tennis tournament final round between Novak Djokovic und Rafael Nadal. It was a very thrilling play

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9138/tennisc.jpg

On the afternoon we planned to make a little walk to the Donauinsel. I had a look in the computer to be informed.

http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/977/donauinselinfo.jpg

There i could read following:

The Donauinsel is a multifunctional project at the Danube with the ostensible purpose of regulating the Danube in the urban area of Vienna. it is a freestanding island between the main stream and the discharge canal. there are situated naturist beaches as well as a multifaceted bar scene.

Well, here we are. We visited one of the fishing boats (similar to little housboats)

http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/5661/fischerboot.jpg

In the background you can see the Floridsdorfer Brücke, one of the Viennese bridges across the Danube connecting the 21st district (Floridsdorf) with the 20th district (Brigittenau) and the Handelskai (it is a very long street in Vienna, in fact one of the longest in the city. It stretches over some 8,5 km along the Danube)

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/7814/img7613t.jpg

Danube, millenium tower, the school ship, nordbahnbrücke (railway bridge)
The milleniumtower is the uppermost high rise office bulding of vienna at the moment, hight 202 m, built in the year 1999

The Schulschiff Vienna. it is a ship anchoring on the Danube in which is located a secondary high school

here i am watching ducks swimming on the danube

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/631/img7614s.jpg

I had much fun with my hosters dog, the little terrier Amy. She is really a jumping dog which loves timber sticks  ;-)

We went by car to our next target

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/3411/autojb.jpg

The Donaupark with the Donauturm
The donauturm is the highest building of austria, hight 252 m, it is a lookout tower and one oft he landmarks of vienna, with two revolving restaurants at a height of 160 and 170 metres

http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/9071/img7625hb.jpg

http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/6583/img7631q.jpg

http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/8630/img7632y.jpg

the donauturm is surrounded by the donaupark. The donaupark was created in 1963 and 1964 on an island between the Danube and the Old Danube under the auspices of the 1964 Vienna International Garden Festival

Following weekend, maybe, we will visit the centre of vienna and its famous buildings. I am already excited. Send you many greetings.

Rust / Burgenland, Austria - 3rd February 2012

By: Cessy

today we made a trip to the neusiedlersee / burgenland
(the second largest steppe lake in central europe) and took a walk on the ice near the village of rust.
The ice was frozen extremely clear, it was shining in the sun like a mirror and you cold see trough the ice to the bottom of the sea. The temperatur was -11°c and really chilly

http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/88/see1z.jpg

http://img804.imageshack.us/img804/7902/see2.jpg

http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/6896/see3.jpg

In the village of rust we could espy a stork on one of the rooftops (unfortunately the picture is a little bit unfocused) this poor stork, why does he not spend this cold months in southern regions like all his other conspecifics? Hope he will stand this icy temperatures

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/6668/storks.jpg

Later we visited some angus blackbulls on a farmstead

http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/9577/blackbull.jpg

Please show courtesy to the greylag geese

http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/2802/greylag1.jpg

We thought they are still in their summer residences, but few minutes later we could see a big swarm of this birds

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/2789/greylag2.jpg

Best wishes and greetings

Vienna, Austria - 29th February 2012

By: Cessy

Hello my dears at home,

today i had my last day in vienna which i spent in the office of my hosters together with the office mascot NANA.

We had a lot of fun in exploring the rooms and facilities. Also we helped our hosters doing their job. We watered the flowers

http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/3509/bumengiessen.jpg

Helped to make the alphabetical filing

http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/3386/ordnerordnen.jpg

Here we are making scans from ourselves

http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/9537/selbstscan.jpg

Time flies and later in the afternoon it was time to make me ready for the next trip to switzerland.

NANA put me on the scales to be able to fill in the receipt of the post office.

http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/2330/gewichtskontrolle.jpg

And then we had to part and say good bye. We have made good friends and we both were sadly to have to part now. NANA implicitly wants to go in to the box and come with me

http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/1395/abschied1.jpg

But i had to travel alone to my next target. Besides, NANA has to do her job here in the office and could not leave. We kissed each other.

http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/7773/abschied2.jpg

And kissed

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/1787/abschied3.jpg

And kissed

http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/1784/abschied4.jpg

Bye bye NANA. We had a fine time together, i will miss you. Bye bye

Garden (Winterthur), Switzerland - 27th March 2012

By: pandacotta

Today me and LoverBear were taken to the garden. The sun was shining and we got to see some of the early spring flowers. We even climbed a tree. Zurich tomorrow and I can't wait. LoverBear has his little mission to fulfill and I get to join him. Zurich seems to be a very cool city and I'm very excited.
