Travelog for: Mr. Scraps

Ratingen, Germany - 9th December 2011

By: RedSwan

Hey mummy,

this is just a small note. Today was the day and the first of us left my hosts home. So sad to see how the first one already leaves.

Tomorrow PinkLady is about to be given to her new host as well. But still I spend the whole day tomorrow with her, going backstage at Starlight Express and afterwards having a small party.

Love and miss you,
Mr. Scraps

The household decided to open presents early this year. They wanted plenty of time to play with thier presents over the weekend. Everyone in the house caught a terrible cold, so presents made everyone feel better too.

So, we toyvoyagers decided to open presents too! I got a new collar to wear my ID tag on. It fits perfectly and I look good in it. I hope you like my collar too mom!

Oh, and it's supposed to snow this weekend. We'll see!

I know this isn't anything special... but I went shopping with my host today. We picked up a bunch of chicken noodle soup, saltine crackers, tissues, and Theraflu medicine. We also picked up everything we need for our Christmas dinner this weekend and other assorted shopping needs. It was fun getting out the house!

Oh and we saw a helicopter while we were out.

I helped Toki with her house today. We are using a technique called "wallpapering". You put sealer on the wall which acts like a glue, put up the paper, and then put a coat of sealer over top of it. The sealer dries clear. It's quite easy. Although, we did apply a little watercolor to it to create a more worn and colored look. That was my idea ;-)

And then I snuggled with Gremlin. She's cute and cuddly... but kind of moody. Eh, she's a cat. Cats are moody.

Sookie, Sveni, Skylar and I went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner to watch the UFC event on pay-per-view. We shared some chips and salsa! It was good ;-)

We played with a bunch of Steampunk stuff and we had fun! They have a more western style steampunk here in Oklahoma. They like pistols, flintlocks, and the worn "old" look... poker cards... that sort of thing. It's pretty neat!

I went to the Monster Underground Horror Fest and an antique flea market right next door. I had a lots of fun!

There was a book seller ther for Ebon Moon, a werewolf book. There were some Day Of The Day stuff there, including some sugar skulls and voodoo dolls.

There was an animal skull that I posed with that has some wonderful Mendhi art all over it. It was very creative. It's very horror related, but there was some non-horror scifi stuff there. There was a Zombie Survival group there who sells items for charity. I thought that was pretty nice!

I posed with some action figures of classic American horror movies - Freddy Krueger of A Nightmare On Elm Street and Jason Voorhees of Friday The 13th.

Remember those non-horror things I mentioned? That included some dog art! I posed with some of it. I also got a photo with some small Chewbacca soft toys which are from Star Wars (non-horror scifi). Other cool non-horror scifi was Doctor Who and Star Trek.

There was a room with some toxic zombie monsters which was pretty neat too. I met count Gregore, the actor who played a vampire a long time ago. I got a photo with his little gargoyle prop.

The Horror Fest was fairly small, but it was fun. After we'd seen every thing there, we moved to the antique market next store! There were lots of old vintage toys and models. One of the first things I saw was a table filled with many Hot Wheels toy cars!

There was a lot of vintage Easter decorations there too. Easter Sunday will be on April 8, 2012. My host says they have a tradition of eating Easter dinner at Hooters. There is usually no one there, it's great food, and they tip well.

Also, surprisingly, there was a lot of Star Wars and Star Trek stuff at the antique market too. There were also old robot toys, a ton of vintage toy dogs (including Snoopy)!

I had fun celebrating Saint Patrick's Day in Bricktown (down town) Oklahoma City. My host says it's an Irish Holiday that they celebrate with getting drunk, listening to Irish music, and lots of green things and Irish flags.

We ate at Jazmo's, a cajun restaraunt - Black Magic Catfish! Oooo weee! It's blackened catfish topped with etouffee on top of dirty rice, and a side of fried ocra. It is SO GOOD! As a treat, we stopped into the Candy Factory. It's not really a factory, but they have a ton of candy there.

Then, we went for a long walk around the different lots where there was live music and green beer. We also enjoyed the wind blowing off the river. The white stuff in the water are petals from the peach trees. The peach trees smell awful, but they are so pretty!

Jefferson, Texas, United States - 31st March 2012

By: klubwerks

We went to a Steampunk event called Nightmare Machine. It was held in Jefferson Texas, which they say is the most haunted town in Texas. We were sitting in the vistors center with a frame photo on the wall fell and broke, and then a bunch of people walked in saying that the Steam Train derailed and they all had to walk back. Thankfully no one was hurt... unfortunately we didn't get to ride the train.

Still we had a lot of fun. We went camping out by a swamp lake at the Cypress Bayou RV Camp Grounds. We saw a lot of neat things around town. We even visited some of the stores. The town itself was pretty neat because it is one of the oldest towns in Texas.

And it was moth season, because there were a lot of moth caterpillars crawling around. We brought two of them home only to find a third stow away in a bag. One of them already made himself into a cocoon (we named him Jefferson). I can't wait to see what kind of moth he ends up being!

I wanted to let you know that I'm okay!

Sorry about not being in the photos, I just wanted to show you the storm that was moving in. We're in "Tornado Alley" and it's Tornado season right now. There was a very dangerous "super cell" storm that passed through Oklahoma this weekend. It's been all over the news. There were several dangerous tornadoes that killed 5 people (3 were children) and injured 29 others. As exciting and beautiful tornadoes are, they are deadly and very scarey!

Don't worry, we are okay in our area of Oklahoma. The winds got really strong out, but luckily the majority of the storm went Northwest of us.

Boomers - Oklahoma City, OK, United States - 13th May 2012

We ate at a place called Boomers, which is just a couple of blocks away from where my host lives. The decor was interesting and the food was okay. It wasn't great food, but we enjoyed some time out.
